do any of you after a full day find that your elbows and knees are just a little stiff - what do you do during the day to exercise or stretch it out

I haven't had a problem with elbows and knees. I mainly feel it in the back of my neck and my shoulders because my head is bent over all the time that I'm following the pattern. You simply have to take breaks, even though you're on a roll and don't want to quit. One of my favorite stretches is the "cat and the horse." Squat slightly with hands on knees and round your back like a cat stretching, then push your back down like a sway-backed horse! Keep chin down. You will actually hear your spine popping and crunching. Repeat a few times. Feels so good!

fatcat, there are a lot of variables affecting the time it takes on the queen size. First of all, there is no standard queen size, so it could be different from quilt to quilt. Then, are you talking about a pantograph? And if so, some of them are more open than others, and take less time than one that is more closely spaced. Or do you want custom quilting? You have to figure your planning time on that, plus resizing patterns if need be, and taking the quilt off the machine and reloading it so you can do the other 2 borders. So I'd say, anywhere from 6 hours to a week. Boy, that helps, doesn't it?

It also depends on how long you have to finish it!
