MINI IRONS

Post by SHARONMAMAW » Tue Jul 03, 2007 6:58 am

I SAT UP LAST NIGHT SEWING AND DECIDED TO GIVE MY MINI IRON A TRY. IT WAS VERY NICE, NOT HAVING TO DRAG OUT MY BIG IRON AND IRONING BOARD. I'VE HAD IT FOR A WHILE, BUT THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I'VE USED IT. I DID FIND THAT KEEPING IT IN A COFFEE CUP WAS BETTER THAN USING THE STAND THAT CAME WITH IT. DO ANY OF YOU USE THEM????

I've had one for a long time and have never taken it out of its package. I love the coffee cup idea! I may have to get it out tonight or tomorrow and work with it. Thanks for this topic.

I really like using the mini iron. As you said, it nice not having to drag out the big iron and ironing board. Always take mine on our quilt retreats.

I bought the Clover mini iron and at first didn't like it. I put it away. I won a door prize at a quilt show and it was the wooden mini iron stand. I got out my iron and started using it and I found out that the iron has to be heated several times before it 'breaks in' to get as hot as a regular iron. Boy it gets hot too! Do not touch the metal part at all and that is easy to forget not to do. i like it for pressing seams, it does a better job than the big iron. Also saves so much power when I need it on all day. I like the stand that is made for the iron, it holds the iron securely and in the perfect position.

Mine died. I looked at the Mini Iron II at Joann's today. Quilting stuff is 40% off and I get another 10% off, to boot so it's about as cheap as I am gonna find it. I may go back tomorrow and buy it.

No, what am I saying? We have two of our three vehicles down, don't know how we are gonna fix even one so I can't be spending more $$$ on quilting at this point.

There will be another sale.

sigh

I've used my before for small appique. I prefer a regular iron. It's always up anyway.

I have one. I like it for very small jobs. I don't use a stand though. I park mine in a mason jar. Talk about hot! Every time I use it I manage to burn myself! I also have a very small iron with about a 4 inch sole plate. It's good when I'm working on blocks. I covered a cutting board with fabric and keep it by my machine. Very handy.

WalMart sells an excellent Black and Decker mini iron (called travel iron) that is perfect for taking to classes and for staying on all day. My DGD likes using it instead of my big iron.

HI Ladies, Iam in Nova Scotia Canada, and I am looking for a small iron to take to class with me, or in the camper, but not that tiny one used for bias tape. Anyone know of a good model I should look for? Ive seen some used on tv shows, but cant see the name of the brand. Well its raining a great day to strip & sew..
