My Quilts

Post by Evie » Sat Jun 30, 2007 12:29 pm

The first two are my Road to California blocks for the Egg Money BOM

This one is my Lotto block for Thimbleberries Quilt Club. The focus fabric is the plaid, the block is Winged Arrows from QIAD free patterns.

This one is made up of practice blocks and backed with fleece for the play room.

This one is my Round Robin. I made the Eagle from Sue Bouchard's Star Spangled Favorites book. The first border is by SewSew, the second by QuilterLiz and the third by LHostelley. Isn't it beautiful. They really improved on my center block!

I watched Eleanor demonstrate how to take a cross stitch pattern and make it into a quilt pattern. Well, good thing I used 1" grid fusible because this owl covered my dining room table before I started sewing the seams! Luckily it shrunk down to 35" tall. Mostly Thimbleberries fabric, with some Hoffman for the sky.

The next picture is the Don't Fence Me In quilt that I made for my son's 17th birthday. It took nearly an hour to choose fabric that did not have flowers in it! He loved his quilt. Told me it would be a keepsake quilt and he would always treasure it.

The next picture might be hard to see. It's the back of my son's quilt. The back is smooth brown Minkee. It was not difficult to quilt but very difficult to photograph. I wanted to show the quilting. I did stitch in the ditch on every seam and on the border, I did a large meander stitch (which my son calls military quilting!).

Love your blocks and quilts. Hey girl...it's only June 30th. Do we have an over-achiever here. LOL. I love the center of the second RTC. Makes it look like everyone is heading towards sunny California. I'm glad you showed the minkie backing. I bet that is one cuddly quilt.

Thanks.

The other day, my son was sitting in the recliner with his quilt. He had the top folded down so he could "pet" it. My DH walked by, saw what he was doing, and he starting petting the quilt! I let my son know how expensive the quilt was to make. That the Minkee alone was $75. Hopefully it will last a lot longer than his last quilt which had a flannel back.

On the Batik RTC block. I found that fabric the other day and it had a lot of neat designs on it that just called out to be fussy cut!

They are all fantastic, but I must say the owl really stands out! I love it!

Oh Evie, they are all just beautiful.

I see you like batiks also. I have El's cross stitch book but have'nt done anything with it yet. Just might have to pull that one out and take another look. I can't even say which one I like best, they are all nice.
Have Fun,
