Thank you 'sewbug' for the great site. I didn't know you had to pull the the thread on both sides.
The directions are much-much better than the ones that clover supplies.

And, thank you QIAD-Linda: I didn't know E had a yo yo flag in one of her books. Now I am going to buy that book.

Interesting story: I was in Lancaster PA last year and saw the yo yo flags made by the Amish. They were selling for $70.00 - $95.00.
I know I can make it for a lot less.

Just when I thought I would hold off on buying anymore gadgets, you have to go and start talking about yoyo's!

Well, Hobby Lobby didn't have them so I'll wait for QIAD to get the new shapes and sizes in and order all at one time. I saw a purse at the mall made using yo yos. It was all ivory yo yos with a few gold metallic yo yos scattered throughout. It had ivory tulle for a lining. The price was $125. The purse was small with clear plasic handles.

So, are we going to be seeing a yoyo exchange in our future?

I got a wild hair and decided I needed one of these yo-yo makers. Naturally, once I started looking for it (or remembering to look for it) I could only find the JUMBO, tiny or shapes. Finally found the Large one last night at Michael's. This evening, when I should have been looking for the embroridery thread I bought at the same time, I made 2 yo-yos from a couple of charms. I think I'm going to put this in my handwork bucket, along with some charms to have something to do when I'm watching TV. I have no idea wht I'm going to do with them, just seems to be the thing to do. (as if I don't have anything else on my plate.)

Those yo yo makers are the greatest! There are so many things you can do with the yo yos, especially at holiday times. they make great ornaments and garlands! El's Christmas at Bears Paw book has a pattern for the garland.

Also, if you google yo yo you'll find lots of things. There are patterns for animals made with yo yos. Never tried any of those, but made angel ornaments and diamond shaped ornaments using the yo yo or yo technique. Also make a toilet paper holder for m bathroom of yo yos.

Unlimited only by one's imagination. And a great way to use TV time, as knitnoid said.

Happy yo-yo-ing everyone. Hugs, carol/kittyquilt

Have a beautiful silk dress that I once could wear, it is a size 14 and have wanted to do a yo-yo- jacket with above elbow sleeves. One of the music teachers at my school gave me the idea with her yo-yo jacket from Niemwn Marcus. I would have to lose 25 more #'s to wear it, however, a jacket would be more useful.

Thanks so much for all of the comments!
