We are owned by four retired greyhounds and a black lab mix wannabe greyhound!

We also have 4 cats who loves when Mommy quilts.

We have Buffy (12 yr. old Shih-Tzu), Scooter (almost 2 yr. old Tibetan Spaniel - Tibbie, for short), and my little Schatzi (9 month old Yorkie) who thinks she's a big dog. She is sweet and cuddly when she wants to be and the boss of the house at other times. Schatzi and Scooter stay in my sewing studio when I'm in there - under foot and in the way and they chew on any fabric that happens to be on the floor. I have to keep my floor picked up and be real careful not to drop pins. But they will not get out of my room. They use to go between my room and my DH's study. Now they just stay in my room but what's a dog mom to do????

I have a cocapoo (sp?) that is more cocker than poodle, but she is the best dog I have ever had. Her name is Gidget, and I had her for many years (about 12) before I discovered quilting. She just lays down where ever she wants, as long as she is close. Of course, she prefers a pillow if one is available.

Now, the cats are a different story. Sassy just loves to knock things off my sewing cabinet and play with the thread on my serger.
Snuggles on the other hand, wants to be wherever I am, and hides behind my machine on the shelf that lowers it into the cabinet. He also thinks he was born to sleep on whatever I am sewing! That wouldn't be to bad, except he is 14 months old and weighs 16#. Have some cute pictures when he was little, sleeping on a quilt I was working on.

Somedays when I am tired or stressed, I just close the cats out so I can accomplish something! Gig doesn't bother anything excet for a pat on the head once in a while. You all sound as crazy about your pets, as I am about mine.

Right now we have Tigger, my orange tabby that DH and he are always antagonizing each other.......Shaddow is a rescue as a 6 week old puppy from the pound about 5 years ago. She looks like a black seal pup and we believe she is a mix from some of the herding dogs as she likes to 'move you around'. She is extremely smart and obedient but at times we think she misses Christopher, our golden that we had to put to sleep a few weeks ago. He was 14...a real love.

Our older son has a big rotweiller that is a fradey cat, his name is Inon, and the first thing he learned is to "not eat Nana {me}" plus he has a rescue mix of some kind that is best buds with Inon, her name is Mojo. Shadow is possessive of her mom and doesn't like Mojo getting my attention so we had a dog fight. . . .Sounds like real kids doesn't it!

One of these days I would like a real small dog for inside, but Tigger tries to be aggresive with Shadow and I'm not sure that would work. Shadow killed 6 skunks last summer {and never got sprayed] but she hasn't even tried to be aggressive to Tigger........I hope she remembers the difference........Moma aint happy, nobody is gonna be happy! Dog or Cat. LOL

We share our home with Snowflake, a 5 year old St. Bernard who maintains a delicate
feminine weight of 150 lbs. Sydney, my ds's dog, is a 15 year old Australian cattle dog
who adores the Arizona heat and dirt. Peaches, my namesake is at least 20 years old and a
light peach tabby. My kids call her mama. Phoebus, who really belongs to dh #2, was a
"gift" from ds best friend on her 16th birthday-so that would make him almost 10 years
old. He is the biggest cat we have ever owned-closing in on 20 pounds and afraid of his
own shadow.

All of our animals, to some extent, are rescue animals-Peaches and Sydney came from the
pound, and Snowflake was returned by her owner at 4 months to a pet store because her
nails scratched their hardwood floors. She has severe hip dysplasia and cannot undergo
hip replacement due to a congenital heart problem common in Saints. Like most really big
dogs, she is nearing the end of life expectancy...Saints go downhill fast at 4 to 5 years.
She is dumber than a doorknob but is the kindest, sweetest dog we have ever shared our
home with. I don't let her sleep in our room anymore as she snores worse than I do!

I am also owned by my chocolate lab, cocoa. She has a sewing chair right beside mine. My DH's dog is a black lab, lady and she is a true lady she even crosses her front paws when she lays down. Doesn't like to get dirty and tells him when she needs a bath. I also have 2 cats. I have tigger, he is tiger stripped, and then I have Jewel. He was a rescue cat, He was attacked by a dog and lost one of his eyes and the pound wouldn't foot the bill they were gonna put him down and I couldn't stand for it. So now I have a very spooky one eyed solid black cat who is the sweetest/meanest full of himself cat you would ever meet. The name jewel may sound funny for a male, but he is a true jewel to go through something like that and still be a great cat.

dsf618 mentioned having greyhounds. My DH works with greyhounds. If we deciede to get another dog it will probably be a lab, but greyhounds are running very close, we may get both. They are wonderful animals.

We have a Brittany. She would rather be out running around flushing up birds than just about anything, except maybe eating ... but she will hang with me in my sewing room. In the winter she is in front of the warm fire on the rug, in summer in front of the unlit fire on the rug. She will always try to worm her way up onto the couch, but as soon as she gets there .... I scoot her off. We also have a calico kitty who loves to be wherever everyone is, so she will curl up on the couch while I sew ..... I know, unfair that the cat can be on the couch and the dog cannot ..... however, our dog is ALWAYS dirty. She MUST run through the woods and through the swamp. Thus her nickname, "Pig".
