I may sound a little silly, but I really don't know what a quilters frame is. Is is something you use with a long arm machine or do you hand quilt with it. I would really love to have a long arm set up one day, but alas I am a poor single parent so I will stick with hand quilting LOL. I do enjoy it though.

Oh yes, and i thought Larry Flynt really changed direction in his occupation. I love coming here every day to see what everyone is talking about and to get my daily giggles in.

Beccasmom - yes, a quilting frame like we are talking about is one that you use with a quilting machine. Some of them are set up, like mine, that you can use your own sewing machine on like a long arm. The super-duper thing about them is that you don't have to baste your quilts because they have bars that you roll your backing on, the batting, and your quilt top and then they are pinned together on the take up bar. It's all stretched nicely and you don't get puckers on the back. When you finish quilting across one section you just roll the whole works up and start quilting the next section. My frame is a "portable" so I can break it down and get it out of the way when I'm through quilting. I almost have 3 tops that need quilting so I'm about ready to set my frame up and quilt. I have a B-line frame with a Juki machine with cruise control on it. The only bad thing is that there is only about an 8" throat on the machine which means I can't quilt in a vary large area before I have to roll it. But it sure beats basting or pinning.

That sounds like something I may have to have one day. I like to hand quilt but it would be nice to be able to machine quilt also. I have tried it on my sewing machine but it is difficult because you have to keep rolling up the quilt and it does not slide well so the stitches do not look even.

Beccasmom - I was recently introduced to the Super Slider. It is a sheet that sticks to your machine on one side and is teflon on the top side. It makes a very slick surface and your quilt will slide nicely on it when machine quilting. It is available here on the QIAD website. It just has a little hole in it that you line up with your needle. It goes on and off easily. I think this would really help with your machine quilting. Hand quilting is beautiful, but sometimes we just don't have TIME to do them all by hand!

I do have one of those sliders, but I was waiting to use it with an extend a table to put on with my machine, but I just found out last night that Sears does not make an extend a table for the computerized machines for some reason. I did not want to cut the slider since it cost me $20 to buy it. I have tried it and you are right, it works well. It is just a little awkward because it is too big right now until I decide what I am going to to about getting an acrylic table made for my machine.

Brenda, There is a company out there, not sure of the name right now, that will make an acrylic extend table for any machine. All you have to furnish is the make and model of machine you want to use it with, and they will custom make it for your machine. I had one made for my Janome and it works fine.

Went to my sewing room. My table is made by Dream World and is called a Sew Steady Table and was made in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. That is all the info I could find. I ordered it through a LQS
