fabricholic

Post by debbieh50 » Sun May 06, 2007 5:30 am

I too love to buy fabric, feel fabric, and have more than I can use at any given time. I usually buy it on sale or for special swaps, projects, etc. I am also running out of space to store it.

Maybe you and GeorgiaPeach should go in together and rent a warehouse!

Welcome to the forum! Sounds like you fit right in.

Hi debbieh50,
Welcome to the Forum, we are happy that you are joining us.
When I first started quilting, I did not know any other quilters. I learned from Eleanor's Log Cabin Book. I became addicted to buying fabric. Since I didn't know other quilters, I thought something was wrong with me! lol
Of course in the many years since then I have learned that fabric purchasing is just part of the love of cutting up fabric to sew it back together again and call it a quilt! lol

I hope you will become an active poster!

PS: Zfatcat & Evie, behave yourselves and play nice! lol

Debbieh50 - you are just like 99.9% of the women on this forum. I'm not one of them so I'm the weird-o. Welcome to this forum - lots of quilting knowledge here. Ask questions and join in the fun!

A fabricholic? Me? LOL I have a problem I agree. I love to buy it, touch it, bring it home and admire it daily. I have a good size stash that I doubt that I could ever bring myself to cut into. I have that stash kept seperate from the stash that I hope to use one day. So yes, I am addicted. I am a fabricholic. And I do not plan on trying to change. We are so very blessed to have the fabric we have today. I think of the women that traveled in wagons and their way of having to make do with whatever little they had to make do with. Shoot, some women were in that situation just not that long ago really. I wonder what they would think or say if they could see the fabric choices we have today.

OK you gals, I am really really jealous. I keep reading about all your "stashes" and I don't have any! I have just started quilting and have two tops that I bought that I am hand-quilting but I didn't have the enjoyment of picking the fabric, feeling the fabric, smelling the fabric or anything like that when it was brand spankin' new! They were already pieced...I am just quilting them! LOL So.....I want to start building a stash and I need some advice. How much yardage should a person buy when they see a fabric they love? Do you pick out your pattern first and then figure out what you need to buy??? Help!

Susie, You know what's the best???? Since you're already on this sight, click on fabric on the home page and then on to sale fabric----you'll love all the choices---trust me, you'll love it and it feels soooo good. Buy at least 3-4 yds if it knocks you over otherwise just a couple---remember, it's on sale so you're getting 2-3 yds for the price of 1 or so. Have fun and we're looking forward to hearing from you and watching you grow and also your stash!!!!!
