cindyg,

That is just great that you have a Yorkie also! Even tho Rosie is
a puppy, her personality sounds like it's going to follow Schatzi.
She tries to boss my 95 lb. yellow lab around. He just looks at her
and walks away bored. Tonite she jumped on his back when he was laying down and she just layed on top of him for a couple of minutes and I ran to grab my camera and just when I was getting ready to snap a photo she took off. She definitely keeps me hoppin' when she is full of energy. It's just like having a baby in the house, when she
sleeps I get things done! Sorry to hear that Schatzi gets car sick.
I have a friend that used to work in a Vets office and she'll be
back in town on Tues. and I'll ask her if she knows anything to help
you out!

That is great that Punk likes to run thru the sprinklers!
I didn't think cats liked any kind of water. That was probaly
so funny to watch him do that. He sounds like such a character !!

SewMuchTime - We also have a 20 lb. Tibetan Spaniel and my Schatzi gives him what for! They run around and chase each other. Sometimes Scooter will jump on the sofa to get away from Schatzi. She's too little to jump on the sofa and he knows it. Well the other day Scooter tried to jump onto the sofa and Schatzi grabbed his tail when he was in mid air and pulled back on it. Scooter wound up flat on his face on the rug - it was so funny. Now he can't get up there without her doing that to him. She has doggie steps so she can get on the love seat. She can get over to the sofa by getting on the arm of the love seat and leaping over to the arm of the sofa. Schatzi takes Scooter's toys away from him - actually he is such a sweetheart that he lets her do what ever she wants, even bully him. Schatzi prisses when she walks. Does yours? Gosh, they are fun to watch.

cindyg,

That is a cute story !! You are giving me a preview of what is
ahead for me. I'm glad Scooter lets Schatzi have her way and
be the boss of her kingdom !
Rosie was teething real bad today. At one point she looked at my labs tail swinging back and forth on the floor and she went after it
with a vengeance. Thank goodness her teeth are so tiny, she connected a few times but no reaction from Dusty. I figure eventually he'll get mad at her and he'll bark at her, and his barking scares the daylites out of her every time he does it!
Her personality is coming out huge and strong, which makes it all the funnier because she is so small. And yes she does prance around with lots of attitude, and also when she runs she'll hop like a bunny.
I just need as much energy as she has !!

SewMuchTime - I ask Schatzi "Does Schatzi love mama?" and she barks "yes" then she gets a treat. She knows how to shake hands and we're working on sit and stay. After she learns sit then I'll teach her how to roll over. I just wish she'd keep her ponytail and bow in. The longest she's kept it in is a little over an hour. I think Scooter helps her get it out - LOL She is so full of personality and I love that Yorkie to pieces even if she is a little bigger than I wanted her to be. Does Rosie have a little tire to chew on. Schatzi loved that when she was teething and she still likes it.

SewMuchTime - in case you are interested in doggie steps - we found ours at Bed Bath & Beyond for $19.95. They are plastic that you snap together and then put the lambs wool cover over it. My DH refused to pay $60 for the ones we saw on TV but when we saw the ones at BBB he snatched them up. I think he was about ready to pay the $60 because he was getting tired of helping Schatzi get on and off the sofa 30 times a night. If Scooter was up there, she wanted up there and if he got down, she wanted down and if she didn't get what she wanted she barked at him and he couldn't hear his ballgame or whatever. LOL In the RV she has a little foot stool that she uses to get up on the couch.

cindyg,

Well I'll have to go to BBB and see what they have for Rosie!
And no she doesn't have a tire for teething, but I'll sure get
one. Now I know what the meaning " ankle biters " is truly about!
Her little teeth are razor sharp and anything is game for
teething on, including ankle bones !! Yikes !
I have her trained to go to the front door when she has to go
potty. But paper training her in the house was good the first
week she was here and now this second week she has no interest.
Nite time is the problem when we are asleep. Everthing is set up
for her to go on, but she won't.
Any ideas for me? I'm so glad we tiled our kitchen, dining room
and living room a few years back. I bought a book on Yorkies but
it says nothing about paper training. I don't want to blow it on
training her, I want to do it the right way and I never had this
problem with my big dogs.
Sounds like you have Schatzi trained doing everything I'll want
Rosie to do in the future. When you told me about the couch episodes
with your husband and the dogs, it makes me wonder with our animals,
who has who trained ?? :) They keep us hopping !!

SewMuchTime - we have Schatzi crate trained. She goes in her crate at night to sleep (that's her cozy place). She cried the first few nights and that's it - she was use to it. They don't like to teetee or poopoo in their beds. The other two dogs stay in the laundry room at night. They all go 'out' first thing in the AM. Schatzi has had some accidents in the house but they were our fault. She will go to the back door when she needs to go out but if I'm in my sewing studio and DH is in the study, nobody sees her by the door. The training pads are a joke - she rips them to shreds. We quit putting them out because I'm afraid she'll choke on the plastic. Rosie's bladder is a lot smaller than your big dog's so she needs to go out more often. Now Schatzi has to stay in her crate while we are working and she rarely has an accident. Oh, when we first got Schatzi I went out with her and watched her. When she went teetee or poopoo I'd pick her up and praise her to high heaven.

cindyg,

Well I agree with you on the pads! I didn't realize that I would
have to take Rosie out more often. I've noticed a few times I've
taken her out she forgets to pee due to too much playing and then
comes in the house and does her business. It will just take time.
I'm just glad I've got tile floors. She had another vaccine shot
at the vets today. I had to stay and wait 15 min. so they could
make sure she didn't have an allergic reaction. She didn't.
She gained 5 ounces this past week. What a crack up ! I've got
her crate trained for when I leave the house during the day, but
at nite, she sleeps next to Dusty in the living room. Today I
planned on quilting when she took a nap. It was sooo hot I
decided not to. Can't wait for winter. I've had enough of sweating
between summer and hot flashes. I know it's hot when I go to buy
a big bag of ice at the store and hold it up to my chest and it
feels fabulous!! :)

SewMuch - when we first got Schatzi I guess I went out with her for the first two weeks just to make sure she did her business. I noticed quickly that she only did it in one corner of the yard so I would make her go over there right away so she would go, I could praise, and then she could play and get into mischief before we went back in. I know what you mean about the heat. My sewing studio happens to be the hottest room in the house. Where is Paradise?
