Re: Breaking thread
Quiltcreator - good idea about the silicone. Where do you get Sewer's Aid - your LQS or JoAnn's? No worries about stains - well, I guess not since you use it on your LA.
CindyB - I heard you shouldn't use the compressed air because it is wet and can make your bobbin area rust.
Somewhere I've seen a small vacuum or vacuum attachments specifically for cleaning your sewing machine. Maybe it was Clothilde or Connecting Threads.

cindyg - I don't remember where I got it; it's been a long time ago. (It lasts forever). Walmart may even have it. And no, there is no staining whatsoever.

I get Sewer's Aid at JoAnn's in the notions section. It's nice if you can time it when their entire notions section is 50% off, but the small bottle is not very expensive and goes a long way.

Re: Breaking thread
I use the vacuum all the time on my machines and don't forget to oil the bobbin area with a "Good quality Oil"......one that does Not turn fishy smelling.
For somereason varigated threads are harder to work with. I personally think it's the 'dye'
Tension check, new needle, cleaning out fuzzy stuff [thats a real technical term]lol.........maybe speed up the machine and slow your hands down.
Let us know what works for you!

Incase anyone didn't say.......how is your thread coming off the spool??? Some need to be horizontal and others vertical......it does make a difference.

You are not being disrespectful at all! It is brand new, so servicing should not be the issue, and it as not making any noises. The bobbin is in the bottom 1/3 full, so maybe that is it.
Can I get that silicone at my LQS?

Thanks for all of the ideas, some i never even considered so I will check those. This thread is a brand new spool and I am at work and can't remember the brand. I will let you know which suggestion was the one that fixes the trouble!

Re: Breaking thread
I just bought some Sewer's Aid at JoAnn's because y'all convinced me it is something I can't live without - LOL. I'll use it on my quilting machine for sure but should I use it on my sewing machine, too?
