I'm with Maryq and Cathy32078...I change it when it breaks! I will admit to puting a new one in when I started the autograph blocks 'cause I was trying to get them done as nicely as possible.

Welcome, Crazyquilter66. It is always nice to see new ones put a post on. Don't forget to click your little envelope by your post in case someone has e-mailed you.
I have a host of men's ties, but I have not made anything out of them. I have seen a tablecloth made, and a vest. But, I don't know of anyone that would wear the vest. It was cute, but ugly. LOL.(laugh out loud).

Re: How often do you change your needle?
I just recently changed the needle in my machine when I started the autograph quilt blocks...I think the one I took out had been in use for about a year. Unless it breaks (and I try really hard not to break one because I was told it would damage my machine) I don't change very often. I didn't really notice a difference when I did change the needle. I have plenty of needles...maybe I should change it more often.
Marge....I've learned my lesson. I think I'll change my needle after 8 or 10 hours of sewing time. Needles really aren't that expensive if you get them on sale. You've made me a believer! ;

Re: How often do you change your needle?
I bought new needles at the QIAD store last time I was there.
The lady there had great advise about which needles she likes to use the best. It even makes your sewing machine sound better. She advised me to especially use the smertzs (sp) sharp needle for machine quilting, I did as she advised me and was very pleased with it. Maybe Linda can ask Hellen for the advise and correct spelling of the needles she told me to use?

I shudder to think of you gals who do not change your needle often. They do get dull, and think of all the stitching you do. I'm with sewbug and Susie, change that needle often. When I am embroiering I change it after every design. Also clean the machine frequently. Its amazing how much lint and dust gets built up inside the bobbin area. You really need to take care of your machines. Marge

Re: How often do you change your needle?
When I quilt a lot, I do clean my machine almost every day, and oil it also.
I now have learned to change my needles more often also.
*smile* Thank you for the advise.
