My Mom, if she didn't want to tell you where she was going, always said, I go to the 99 to make 100

Mom always asked "do you want a spanking" when I was younger and I remember telling her "no but Kerry does". (he's my older brother) My dad, bless his heart, liked it quiet when he was driving, and obviously, us three kids must have been noisy, after telling us numerous time to be quiet, he'd look in the mirror and throw his arm over the seat and start swinging at us asking "do you want me to thump you"? Well my dad had the shortest arms of any man and we knew he couldn't reach us but look out if he pulled the car over!To this day us kids laugh at just the thought of his short arms flailing over the seat.

My Dad would say - That and 69 cents will buy you a cup of coffee.

Use: Dad, look, I got X (fill in the blank) - response, that and 69 cents will buy you a cup of coffee!

Of course Dad would never have imagined that you could buy a $3 cup of coffee!!

When I was a kid it was: Eat your food, there are starving kids in China.

When my oldest daughter was 7 or 8 yrs. old she came out of her Sunday School class crying. Her teacher said they had shown a film of our missions in Ethiopia and it showed all those pitiful children dying from starvation and it really upset my daughter. So I changed my mom's saying from starving kids in China to starving kids in Ethiopia for my kids.

I thank God everyday that I was born in the USA!!!!!

Whenever we got to out of hand I would hear:

God gave you a behind for 2 reasons - - you choose.

We usually sat down after that cuz we didn't want to get paddled.

I used that on my kids too and it worked.

My mom always told me to not do anything I would be ashamed to tell her I did. As I got older, I really understood what the meaning of that was.

Cindyg, we got the "eat all the food on your plate, kids are starving in __"

My attitude was ok so send my food to them!

My mom was the worst cook in the world.......we thought cafeteria food at school was the gormet stuff!!! lol.....

And No, I am not being mean, I'm just telling the truth.
