quilt retreat activities
I need some activitiy ideas for a fall weekend quilt retreat. Of course, we will be eating, shopping, laughing and sewing, but I need just a few fun things to add spice to the mix. Thanks for your ideas.

How about a "stash exchange"
Have everybody bring some of the fabric they don't think they'll use and have an exchange!
Since you'll be eating... how about have the guests bring the recipe. If it's pot luck... bring the recipe for the item they are bringing.
Or names in a hat for a drawing of a bag of fabric scraps.
HAVE FUN!!

If you have small prizes to hand out and don't know how to do it, here is a suggestion that should not hurt any feelings. Put an x under one of the chairs that they will be sitting on. Also, put a x on a plate that they will be using. Mix up the paper plates and no one will suspect. We sometimes have a birthday that is the closest to the day you are having the quilt retreat. Either before or after the day. Have a prize for the 3rd person to come in on time.
Hope this helps.

Hi gayleode,
Welcome to the Forum! I hope you will enjoy all the discussions and become an active participant. We have a great time here and just love new members.
At Eleanor's retreats, she has the ladies split up in small groups. Each day at lunch or dinner, a group has to put on a skit, sing a song, tell a joke, or something. Everyone gets involved, even the bashful. It is fun for all.

Gayleode ~ I love the idea of celebrating birthdays, with my DD youth group, we have an "un-birthday party". Each girl brings a wrapped gift (maybe in this case, a FQ, notion or favorite gadget) and as they arrive the gift is given a number. Then we each draw a number and that is the gift we receive unless they brought it. Everyone is included and just loves to get a present. We wear party hats, sing "Un-Happy Birthday", have pie instead of cake and take a group picture. For this forum, it would be great black mail material!! LOL Hope you have a great time.
Happy stitching!!

Re: quilt retreat activities
At a couple of retreats in So. California, the gals sit in a big circle. We all bring UFO's, unfinished items, and spread them on the floor in the circle. Two gals go from gal to gal with a pie pan that has two dice. Each person rolls the dice and if they get doubles, they get to pick a UFO from the floor. After the floor items are gone, anyone getting doubles then gets to steal from another person. That goes on for a certain amount of time and the only other rule is that a UFO can only be stolen three times. It is fun and a great way to get rid of things you will probably never finish.
Another activity is playing BUNKO using a fat quarter to get into the game.

How about an ugly fabric contest? Everybody brings some ugly fabric and get into small groups and they make something with it.
