SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, Feb 6th

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Feb 06, 2024 4:28 am

Good morning,

Yesterday was chilly but today will be much warmer - 67*, I think. We might get in a walk in the stroller. Depends on breeze and when naptime happens. :D Yesterday our little charge took 3 steps! We almost missed it! She was after the cat who was strolling by her. 🐈👣🐈👣🐈👣

LORI - poor Jack! No walking makes Jack an unhappy boy. We've been watching the CA weather, wondering how you and everyone else is doing. We have good friends who are in a condo in Morro Bay in winter. We need to text them to see if they have floated away. We'll be traveling I-5 in a couple weeks. I hope it's all cleared up by then. But at least you are getting a good snowpack in your mountains.

BECCA - I hate returning things so I'd be bummed if the store sent me the wrong size. You are patient. Glad you got in some swimming with a friend. I imagine the dishes at your place are different from day to day because of the folks doing the cooking and the ingredients available that week. Seems the quality of your meals varies widely from day to day.

CAROL - OK, with your description, I'm getting a sense of your table runner. Is it finished now? And it's for you? We once were given a quilt by a customer. Her MIL had started handquilting it and then passed away when it was half finished. It took a little doing but we were finally able to match the LA stitching to the hand stitching and finish off the quilt. No one could tell the difference. And yes, we're babysitting Mon-Fri this week and will get together for pizza lunch with the A-Team on Saturday and say our good-byes. I hate goodbyes. The last goodbye didn't stick, which is why ended up back here from FL. But this time it will, though they did try to sell us on March in Texas being their best month..... lol!

MARY Q - yay!! You're back!! I hope you find some good supper ideas here. That's the purpose of Supper Club, you know. They say diets are much more sucessfull if you allow yourself a few things - like your tater tots - now and then. But remember our rule(s) - and shellf--- counts! It's actually worse than just regular F---! Would peas be easier for you to tolerate if you thought of them as beans? Because they are a legume really.

TINA - just keep resting. You can do things while resting - like go through your recipes looking for EASY things for supper! I don't like canned soups either. Except I'll use tomato soup as a base for tomato basil and creamed soups in cooking. But I go for the low sodium varieties. Hope your dad is doing OK.

Chickie's dr visit yesterday was discouraging. Five months of waiting for an appointment with the very specialized specialist and all she got was he can't tell her the cause of her constant vertigo, there is no cure, and she just has to learn to live with it - like she's been doing for the past 3-1/2 years. She does a 1 hr yoga routine every morning and she thinks that might be the only thing helping her. She does still sew. The great grands keep coming in her family. I think 8 in the last 4 years. So she makes a lot of baby quilts and small items for the ladies in her family at Christmas. Sewing is difficult but is her therapy.

This morning I'm going to put two chicken breasts into Yoshiba's marinade. We'll pop them onto the grill tonite. We'll have broccoli and salad for sides. We always split one breast and the second one will go into something for tomorrow. Maybe a small pot of chicken rice (or noodle) soup since we've been talking soups.

What's your supper plan?

Good morning Fellow Supper Clubbers!!

Tis a lovely sunny day in MN.. Expected high temp of 52* today! Time to get out the shorts and flip flops!!! Well maybe not quite yet as it's getting cold the rest of the week.

So the chicken alfredo turned out pretty good actually. Ok, I cheated and bought a jar of the sauce, but I did add a little extra parm cheese. Normally I try to avoid things with noodles (and rice) but I always check the carb content per ounce. I might have to buy myself a food scale to be more accurate. I did borrow Katie's for a while and measured out serving sizes and put each onto a zippy bag.

Yesterday afternoon I did cut up a whole plethora of veggies: onion, celery, tomato, all colors of peppers, some green olives, and will run to grocery store to pick up a cucumber. Later I'll add a little cut up hard salami and then drizzle on a little Italian dressing!! I think that will be supper tonight with maybe a grilled cheese sandwich! You will notice that there are no PEAS, Cauliflower or broccoli----nor with there EVER be!!!

Sorry to hear Chickie's news that all the waiting to see a specialist didn't give her any answers at all.. Just a "suck it up" kind of attitude from the Dr. But I guess there just some things, diseases or conditions that can't be explained and cured. I'm just sorry that happened to Chickie!!

Guess I better get going, my coffee is cold and I need to get in the shower and get my day started. Have a couple errands to run, then come home and tidy up house for a visit from my DB Tim and SIL Laurie (Laurie just retired from over 40 years as an insurance underwriter) and she's such fun! She's a crafter too and does amazing things with a Cricut machine! I'll have to show you sometime!!

Anyway...bye for now and Don't burn your dinner!!

Good morning all 🌞
Mary, 3 steps! Today it'll be more I bet! Did you tell mommy and daddy? Those kitties are good walking motivators.
That's really cool that you were able to match hand quilting stitches to your LA.
Maryq, I only lost my taste for certain things, same with smell.....just certain things. I'm not sure if it's all back yet but I seem to be ok with tasting and smelling again. I can't eat cauliflower or broccoli, they tear my stomach up but I love peas! When I was little I have a favorite memory of peas.....I was eating a little bowl of peas and Merle Haggard came over to visit, my mom used to sing at a place and she knew him and I love that memory! He came to our home that time. I also got to meet Jim Ed Brown where she sang too, I have some pretty cool memories. When I was 13 Ron Ely (he played Tarzan) was here at a restaurant and sat at the table beside us, he gave me his autograph.
I'm going to do the check book today and pay bills, it's really just writing it down in the check book, it's on auto withdrawal. I try to keep it simple for Frankie in case something happens to me and the kids could help him easy.
Dad had his nuclear stress test yesterday, he's beyond wore out this morning. He's supposed to be checking his calendar for his injection appointment, he can't remember if it's this week or next.
Supper tonight will be the soup recipe from Olive Garden, zoupa tuscany I think it's called. Frankie will help me.

Tina, great memory of your mom and Merle.

Maryq, we made it to 54 today. That's cold for us.

Mary z, The cat will get her running before you know it. There was a short break in the rain this afternoon, so Jack and I hustled out and got a short walk with just light sprinkles.

Becca, glad you had sunshine. We should get some in a few days.

We've had some crazy rain going though. I think we're over 6 inches for the month. 4 1/2 in the last 2 days. That's a lot of rain for us. We don't live near hills that slide, so not too bad.

I finished up a few lotto blocks today. Did a little cleaning, and grocery shopping. It decided to poor down when I got to the store, and when I came out. Good thing I'm water proof.

We had cereal for dinner.

Sleep well.
