SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, February 4th
Posted: Sun Feb 04, 2024 4:47 am
Good morning,
Yesterday was a pretty day after a stormy night. We watched Amara for four hours while her parents were out on their date. (I think they went to a winery. There are lots of them springing up here in the last 10 years). And while they were gone we found a new tooth! That makes four now! After a bottle and a turn on the dance floor, she slept for 1.5 hours so I spent that time cutting sashing and borders for Fab Farm. When she woke up we took her out to the patio and had a little picnic. She loves being outside. We took some photos of our picnic. We're taking a lot of photos and plan to write a little book, "Nonnie and Pop Visit Amara", add photos, and send it to a company to print the book. So she won't forget us. Hopefully we'll get it done in time for her birthday, April 7. We'll get a copy for ourselves, too.
We aren't babysitting today so we plan to clean house. That only takes about a half-hour in our 200 sq foot tin box, so I'll get a pot of chili going in the crockpot and start putting Fab Farm together. It's supposed to be a cooler, windy day so there won't be much patio time today. When the weather is nice, I put relaxing on the patio with a book ahead of sewing because I won't be able to do that when we get home. But today will be a sewing day, I'm pretty sure.
LORI - It's so nice that your dad's neighbors will help keep an eye on him. Between them, you, and maybe some in-home visits from a home care company, maybe you'll be able to keep him in his own home for a while longer. I'm so sorry Jonathon lost his beloved friend. That's the hard part of having pets. They don't last nearly long enough. But for what they give while you have them in your life, it's worth it. Your son - and you, too - have my sympathies. Boxers are such sweet dogs.
BECCA - you do fill your days! Did you play cornhole or were you 'in the bleachers', cheering them on? Is it played like horseshoes? I really don't know the rules. I see a lot of RVers playing cornhole, but I think it's kind of a big item to haul around in an RV. You are making fast progress on that quilt. I guess you will be off to Joann's one day soon for that Wonder Under. What day is the baby due?
TINA - all good news coming from your house! End of Paxlovid! Negative test! You cooked! That's a lot for one day. You better lay down and rest! And yes, I think both of my girls had a good day. I think the A-Team went to a winery and I got to talk to Lara for her birthday. And I sent her some photos of Amara. Lee & Lara made a visit here last October, so she has at least met Amara (and Antonio, too!).
CAROL - I think I'll be wanting to see a photo of that poppy block when you get it finished. It sounds intriguing. Sorry your DH keeps picking the oranges. How long will they last on the tree? I saw a recipe once for an orange pie. Maybe you can find other recipes for them. (hint: they are good in Sangria . . )
And yes, we've seen a lot more of the kids this year. We've stayed a month longer than usual. Plus, we babysit every day. It's our joy and they are thrilled that we are willing to do it. In years past, because both A & A were working, we only saw them once a week on weekends. When we leave next Sunday, Antonio will start working from home again which is difficult with an almost toddler. He mentioned that he sure wouldn't mind if we stayed even longer! lol! First rule of anything is to leave them wanting more!
Tonite we're going to have our chili and cornbread, too. I mix up all the dry cornbread ingredients at home and put them into a zippie bag and write the rest of the recipe on the bag. So it's easy peasy. I'll freeze extra chili and cornbread for one or two travel meals.
What will be on your plate (or in your bowl) tonite?
