Good morning,

I'm glad this is the last of September. My fingers have been trying to type October for the past two weeks. They seem in a rush for winter to get here!

Yesterday I finished up Lemur and posted a photo. Then I cleaned my sewing room and ran up to the hospital to visit my friend, Carol. She went home late yesterday with a knee scooter and will have in-home help for a few weeks. She's doing OK. I talked to my sister and she and her hubby are not. Tina is down with a severe back, may need surgery, and is waiting for dr's order for an MRI. XR's aren't sounding good. And her hubby, Al, hurt his shoulder and is seeing dr on Tuesday. They are supposed to be meeting us in Texas in 6 weeks. That may not happen. They are 80 and 86, though both very youthful. Tina is the sister who fell and shattered her knee cap 3 yrs ago when we were in Texas together. We cancelled the rest of our trip and helped them back to Colorado that year. In frozen January.

Bill had an eye appt yesterday afternoon and he needs cataract surgery. Dr says he can put it off until we came home from Texas in February but he shouldn't be doing any night or rainy driving. This is a bit scary for us because he is legally blind in his right eye so if anything goes wrong with his left eye, he has no back-up eye. They will do the blind eye first. Funny - our friend, Tex, also had eye appt yesterday and he also has to have cataract surgery.

Today's plan is to do laundry and to make a few blocks for Oct lotto. It sounds interesting and I can never resist interesting challenges. And I will start getting my head and fabrics organized to start Unicorn. Like Lemur, it calls for mostly solid fabrics. I don't have a lot of them so I need to take stock and might have to augment my supply. I looked for them at Trains my last couple visits but they were sold out.

TINA - well, did you get your quilt top finished before the kids arrived? I'm excited for your quilts. At the rate you are going, you will have them all finished in no time! How long does it take you to quilt a quilt?

BECCA - sorry you don't like sauces and gravies. Unfortunately, I love them. And they love me and like to stay with me. :D Can you request sauce-free foods? I think Lori had a good idea - make a soup you like and freeze it in convenient portions. I do that, too, with soups, chilies, and sometimes casseroles. Though freezer space can be an issue. But then you won't have to order forbidden CATFOOD in the dining room! 😸🦈

LORI - that sewing room tour sounds really interesting. I'm curious to hear what you thought of it and if you got some good ideas you can share with us. Not sure what anyone would get from touring my little sewing room other than ideas on how to cram a lot into a small space, I guess. I just dropped my back up Bernie off for spa treatment. I just wanted it cleaned and serviced. I paid for the 3 yr maintainence agreement so it's "free" and it's been since Feb when it last went in. So I wanted to get it done before we go south, even though, I'll be taking my newer Bernie. I have a lot of sewing time in TX and it has more features. On shorter trips, the older Bernie goes. Tri tip on the grill sounds tasty.

I pulled a meatloaf out of the freezer so we will be having that and potatoes and probably a salad. Maybe a veggie to be named, too.

What will all y'all be having?

Good morning all 🌞
Mary, the lemurs turned out so cute! I love the bright happiness of it ❤️
Sorry your sis and dbil aren't doing good, I how she doesn't need back surgery.
Does your friend Carol have someone at home to help her?
Dad had cataract surgery a few years ago but it was only short term helpful, like 6 months. He's been taking occu something vitamins and they seem to be helping him.
I didn't get the last border on the quilt but that was because we went to lunch with DSIL and DBIL. I'm going to do that border this morning and then start squaring up blocks for the next one. I have to break up how I quilt them....I have to get the quilt loaded one day and then the next can usually quilt them in a meander in about 2 to 3 hours total but sometimes I have to break that up either throughout the day or over a couple of days depending on how my sciatic and back and legs feel. I'm really hoping to have them all done and wrapped by Thanksgiving, the sooner the better 🤞
Becca, I bought some devider trays so I can take food to Dad when he's not feeling up to coming over or if he wants to take extra home for the next day. I wonder if your family could possible make you a container and freeze a few and give them to you for the days you don't care for the food there? I hope that makes sense.
We have leftover soup so that'll be supper tonight. I'm not a fan of hot soup in hot weather but I'll eat it LOL
Tina

Good morning!

I kept meaning to post yesterday but was busy with Friday chores and just tired from the drive and staying up late the night before. We had a really great time visiting with one another and the exhibit was outstanding. They represented the politics of the 1930s that led up to the Holocaust accurately.

Today we get the RSV shot, finish laundry, and Zoom this afternoon. I hope to finish the figures for the Nativity so I can work on the holder.

Marz - Your friends sound like my two sisters. One sister will have surgery on Monday for a dislocated elbow and the other sister is recovering from a broken femur, broken ankle, broken arm, broken sternum, broken ribs and getting Covid during recovery. (She had an accident July 1st.) My niece also had a broken leg as the driver of the vehicle in the same accident. They were hit head on with the bulk going to the passenger side. They were in a Chevy Tahoe and hit by a Chevy Equinox. Both sisters are younger than me and totally a mess!

Tina - Glad to hear you are making great progress on the quilts! A meander goes very quickly. You will get them done!

Lori - Enjoy the sewing room tour today and being with friends. Sounds like you have a fun day planned.

Becca - Not sure if you are interested in making a soup but they sell a Rubbermaid small 2 cup container that is perfect for individual servings of Soup. I have been using them to freeze the soups I make so I can pull out what we need to have a meal.

Dinner last night was Garden Vegetable Linguini and a Sweet Kale Salad. I think it will be repeated tonight.

Carol

My goodness Mary, your poor sister has had a hard time the last few years. I remember when she broke her knee cap. My Bill had cataract surgery for both eyes. He said it made a huge improvement with his vision. Hope your Bill can get by until he can have it done.

Carol, how scary for you sister and niece. The other car must have been going really fast to have that big of an impact. I drive a Chevy Tahoe. It's a big car.

Tina, your Christmas quilt is so darn cute. Love all the cute toys. I'll get mine together someday.

Becca, sounds like a fun day at the Nature science center.

The sewing room tour was really fun. We saw 4 completely different sewing spaces. Small and large. Plus lots of quilts though out the house. Some even had quilts outside. Tea was nice as well. Really it was just a lunch, but it was good. I won the center piece which was a cute bag with Mums in it. I gave the Mums to another lady at our table and kept the bag. One of our friends won 2 big baskets full of fabric and stuff.
It was a fun day.

Dinner was leftovers.

Sleep well.
