SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Sept 27th

Good morning,
We got rain! Lots of it! We're getting a month's worth all in two days. We need it badly, but good gosh! It's a lot of water all at once!
Yesterday was lots of cleaning. I'm all ready for company today for lunch. Only two friends coming - nurses and former co-workers in NICU. Two of our group passed away in Jan and Feb so it's odd to only be just 3 of us now. After the cleaning flurry, I had a few hours in the sewing room and got all those rascally lemurs finished! Whew! If there are any spare moments today I'll trim the blocks. Tomorrow, I hope to get the top assembled. I still haven't figured out my backing yet - I have lots of 5-yd cuts in flannels and cottons, but most are themed - Christmas, fall, Americana, kids, etc. None are lemur themed. lol! I'm excited now to start the first unicorn quilt. Those blocks are 24" square but thankfully, I'll only be making 4 of them.
TINA - We are the opposite - we like to eat light in summer and to us soup is a light meal. Plus, many soups can be served cold. But it also warms us up on cold winter days! I have quite a bit of pork roast left over so I may make pozole with it. Tomorrow. Scottie rubs against our couches, too. Unfortunately, our loveseats in the living room are floral with white background and he's a black dog! Bill took the little Green Machine to them last year and it really helped. But it was a LOT of hard work. He doesn't get ON the furniture much, but does rub against it when he's wet from rain or bath. - glad you came back and reported good success with your furniture! $110 for 3 hrs of work that you didn't have to do sounds like a good deal to me!
BECCA - sorry you won't be having family dinner tonite. Maybe you and your friend could go out? Or go back to your apartment for a visit? gin rummy? a movie? I'm so glad Frankie's parents were on their toes and took her to the ER. And happy to hear she is doing better now. You are right - kids do much better than adults with most diseases. And you're right about dogs, too. (and cats!). They can be a hassle but they bring so much love and companionship they are worth it. Are you allowed any pets where you live? A thing on white squirrels popped up on my phone yesterday with a lot of photos. I immediately thought of you. They are very rare. You have something special there! I guess they are your pets!
CAROL - have you made the carrying case for those Nativity figures yet? If so, do you think they will all fit? I'm going to save mine until next Christmas. At 8 months, I don't think Amara is quite ready for it just yet. She's more interested in the cats right now.
I'm making chicken enchiladas and Mexican rice for my luncheon today and I know there will be plenty for Bill to have for his supper tonite. My two friends, Pat & Carol, are bringing salad and dessert. It will be good to catch up with them. Last time we were together was in March.
What are you planning for YOUR supper?
