SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, Aug 20th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Aug 20, 2023 6:32 am

Good morning,

55* here this morning, but going to 82 this afternoon - they say. Yesterday was breezy with smoke from fires in WA and Canada. Looks like air quality is to be 85 today - moderate range and worse than yesterday. I was planning to do a little yard work this morning. We'll see how that goes. I've also been painting my barn block outside. But I'm not crazy about breathing in smoke. And I may hold off on laundry as I like to hang it on the lines.

CAROL - I Googled your project. It's lovely, but not sure I'd have the patience. Though I do cross-stitch projects that take me years to finish, so maybe . . . . Aren't rings beautiful when the come back from the jewelers. I just had mine done a few months ago. Sometimes, when they get dirty, I brush them with a tiny bit of toothpaste and the electric toothbrush. I save an old softened brush head just for this purpose. I hope the storm doesn't affect you too much other than maybe some nice rain. Not a torrent! Wondering how Chriss will do up in the hills east of Fresno and Merced. The last big rain left her stranded for several days.

BECCA - are you relieved to not be making a baby blanket or disappointed? I think I'd be both. Like you, I like to stay busy all day long. I don't like to sit around. So you say a neighbor bought your property and he's a trouble-maker? What kind of trouble? I'm sorry to hear your beautiful land isn't in good hands.

LORI - I checked out your Arkansas Traveler. A very pretty and unique block! I'm wondering what your jelly roll is like if you didn't care for it. Hoping all is OK with you thru the storm. My barn block is a simple sawtooth star in Red/White/Blue but painting the corner squares black gives it a different look. On Marcia Hohn's quilt block website, she calls it "Austin", which is my maiden name, so that's why I chose it. I tried many color combos, using pieces of fabric. This worked the best with the color of our house.

I have leftover grilled chicken so we might have chicken sandwiches for supper tonite. Or else chicken alfredo. Or maybe the chicken noodle soup I was thinking of a few days ago but didn't make. I'll discuss it with the HOH and get back to you on that. 🍝🥪🍲

Have you got a plan yet?

Good morning all 🌞
I sure hope everyone in the path of that storm stay safe 🙏🙏
Mary, I've been wanting to put a barn block on my chicken coup, I haven't decided what pattern yet, I love so many 🤪
Carol, I looked up your project I'm not able to do it but oh my gosh it's beautiful!
Lori, what don't you like about your jelly roll?
Becca, sorry your property was bought by a trouble maker, what kind of trouble is he making? That's a big baby, congratulations!
Yesterday was the party, I loved seeing the kids and boys. It wasn't long enough for me, only 2 hours. But that's the time table they allow at Chuckee Cheese, it was the first time we had been there. Holly and the kids and Dad and us all went in our van, we were a full vehicle 😊
We got home about 7 and then Holly spent 2+ hours in my sewing room going through blocks and fabrics and setting aside what she wants me to make her 😂🤣 she wants a Fall quilt and says my Bee quilt could fit the bill, no LOL. She also wants my Fruit Salad blocks for a Spring quilt and she went through Christmas and winter swap blocks and wants a Winter quilt so she can have changes for when she changes seasons in her house decorations. I'll make them but Christmas sewing will be getting done first, the goofy girl LOL. I did tell her any cutting that I need to do she has to help me with because it kills my back, she agreed to learn.
Tonight is Dad's night so I better look in the freezer and see what I have for supper. Easton stayed the night and I let him sleep in, he's still asleep at 8:17 which is really unusual for him, he's usually up by 7, he's not a sleep in kinda kiddo. He must've really been tired.

Tina, how fun that you have someone who loves your stuff. It's nice to have someone love what you make.

Mary, Your barn block sounds prefect. The Arkansas Traveler block is pretty. I'll have to decide on colors.

The Jellyroll I received is to bland. I have it with a cream fabric background. Some pieces pop, other fade to the background. And it's not really a kids fabric. Maybe a teen girl will like it. I got most of the pieces sewn together yesterday. Will finish up today and start the blocks. I'd like to get it done and move on to something else.

We've had some rain since about 4am. Only about 1/2 inch so far. The big part is supposed to come though about 2pm. We'll see. This is the most rain I ever seen in August. The plant will be so happy.

Dinner will be leftovers again.

Have a lovely day.

Carol, I like that pattern. I have several stencils with Sachiko patterns. I've done a few. It goes faster than traditional embroidery.

Hello everyone sunny & nice here I went to Church made lunch now chatting with you
Maryz I feel kind of relieved in one way due to not enough room in this place plus I don’t have my frame to quilt with so it’s not as nice here
On the selling of my house It isn’t them It’s the one that bought our neighbors property He died The same time as when C.A. was critical His DD got it & sold It was an under the table deal Had any of us know it we would have given her more money He bought it at a very low price
I wouldn’t sell him a corner I owned of his
Property which included his driveway &It was a big mess and I thank God it’s over He wanted my property but didn’t buy I’m sure because of price
On to a better topic
I really enjoyed the games last night The little twins ages 5 won & so did Kade who is 9 yrs old Those little kids were so cute
Tina That must have been a fun party Glad the boys could spend the night
Lori I know your choice will be great on fabric
Maryz I love barn blocks Love seeing them One of our neighbors had one on their barn
I choose chicken with broccoli and jello salad and fruit
