SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, Aug 12th

Good morning,
Another pretty day here! We'll be going to Oly for an early lunch with Bill's sis and dbil, Ed & Becky. I WAS going to visit my hair dresser today but hadn't made the appt yet so I guess I will just make an appt for next weekend instead. She only works Fri and Sat. It will be good to see E&B again. They are always fun.
Yesterday was berries again. I hope to end up with eight 6-cup pkgs in the freezer. I have five now. We'll pick again tomorrow or Monday and then whatever I have will be what I have. I also hit the Goodwill as a treat to myself. My sisters were thrifting together in CO so I went in solidarity with them. They said I was the winner - I spent the most! lol! I also hit the hardware store and bought some more jam jars on clearance and a few stocking stuffers to hide in the trailer for B. Since I never get out on my own after we leave for TX, I have to shop early here.
I have a bit of a Chickie update. She had cataract surgery this past week. They told her do not bend over or lift anything. Next day she did a face plant right in her kitchen while sweeping the floor. Her vertigo has gotten worse and she must use a cane, or one (sometimes two!) walking stick. They want her to see another specialist as they've decided her vertigo isn't related to her strokes from 3 yrs ago. But the earliest appt she could get is Feb 5th. February! She is beyond frustrated. Hopefully there will be a cancellation before then. On the plus side, the cataract surgery has improved her double vision.
JANA - I'm glad to hear Michael no longer needs the heart monitor! That's a major leap forward! You know, Bill told me he looked on Amazon for red relish and couldn't find any. It's not in any stores we've been in around the country, and when I Googled recipes, they all began with, "because companies stopped making it, I've devised my own recipe . . .". I guess I need to talk to my tech/ordering department and find out what goes on there - besides nothing!
TINA - I love meals made by combining all the leftovers! Let's call what you had green chili hash! I like it! BTW, I've got a pkg of blackberries in the freezer with your name on it! I'll trade you for a pkg of chilies. Now if I can just get it to fit into my little trailer freezer!
LORI - sounds like you have a good teacher. Was your presewing assignment to sew strips together? I'm thinking of buying his pattern. I love a good challenge and that looks pretty challenging!!
BECCA - happy birthday party-going! I know you'll love being with family. It will be fun to see the kids all excited. And don't all those threads give you a headache. They tangle up the rollers in my vacuum, so I'm usually crawling around on my hands and knees picking up what I can with my fingers before I vacuum. After every project. But since it's a sewing related chore, I don't mind it.
IRISH - thanks for the recipes! I will check them out later this morning. I love trying new stuff. I hope your "lawnman" got the job done for you. I think our grass is going dormant for the season, though it could still use a haircut. Bill usually mows before a Boondocker arrives, but other than one person who has reserved later this month, he's shut down the Boondocking for the summer, so I guess that means no more mowing unless I get out my big stick. I was startled yesterday - I walked into a store and saw a woman I could have sworn was you! She looked just like pictures I've seen of you! So, you have a double and she's living in Gig Harbor, WA!
I don't think I'll be cooking tonite. We're having lunch in Olympia and I'm sure we'll either still be full or will bring home leftovers to have for supper. And we have leftover berry crisp for afters. Oh, and we also have leftover meatloaf because I veered from my posted plan last night. So we're sitting pretty good for another night! Maybe two!
And how is menu planning going at your house?
