SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Aug 11th

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Aug 11, 2023 7:10 am

Good morning,

It's going to be another purrfect day here! Yesterday Bill helped and we picked 19 cups of berries. I got one batch of jam (my LAST!!) and 2 pkgs for the freezer. I'll check for more berries this morning. I want more for the freezer and also to make a berry crisp - or two. Then I made some red hamburger relish. It is OK, but the recipe needs work. But now I have 2 pints to use up before I try again. Guess we'll be eating a lot of burgers for a while! I also got half the laundry done (Bill helped with that, too), straightened up both pantries, and finished sorting my quilting pictures. They are still in little piles all over my sewing room and today I'll label and file them back into my photo box. I need to go through the photos in my phone next. And print the ones I like best. Today's line-up includes finish the laundry, including sheets, pick more berries, put away all those photos, clean kitchen, and just some general straightening up around here. None of these chores are biggies so it will be kind of a relaxing day.

IRISH - I can't believe Emma is already 4 yrs old! So Lena must be even older! Going on 6, maybe? Time does fly! And yes, if you could, it would be great if you posted those recipes over in the recipe section. Then everyone can access them if they wish. What I'm looking for specifically is red hamburger relish. Most of the recipes I've found have red bell peppers in them and some have tomato, so maybe yours is The One. I would like to try it. So is your sister procrastinating on the hip surgery? Or does she have a date already set and she's just waiting. Tell her the older she gets, the harder the recovery.

JANA - it can be an intricate dance to get the diet just right! I'm sure you will find a good balance soon, though. My dad lost a lot of weight when he was undergoing radiation back in the early 80's. So my mom cooked a lot of high calorie foods for him. He didn't gain any weight, but she put on 20#!

LORI - I love that quilt and I do remember now that I Googled it when you gave us the name before. It is quite a project! How big will it be? Is the $47 charge listed for the class or for just the pattern? Is the class a one and done or do you go back for more sessions? And how would you transport all your parts and pieces?? Organization and labeling are key in these kinds of projects.

I don't know about supper tonite. I think the problem is we have too much food. If we had less it would be easier to decide! What a great problem to have!! But I'm leaning towards burgers as I really want to try my relish on a burger. But we had them 2 or 3 nights ago so Bill may want something else.

What's the decision at your house?

Good morning from a pleasantly warm, sunny, SW Pa.....The makings of a purrrfect day.....
Have to make this a quicky...Will be picking up my sister and we're both getting haircuts...What's funny, this is a neighbor of my sister's, (not too far away) but she won't walk so I drive over and she hops in my car and we drive down the street, lol.....And then Kevin will be over to take care of the yard which takes about 12-15 minutes...If he brings the tractor, it takes him longer to unload it off the trailer than to actually cut the grass.....

Mary, I have posted both recipes on the recipe section...Hope I hit all the right keys and it all makes sense....Yes, our Emma is 4 going on 30...She really is funny, did say, we wouldn't have enough candles for Pappy's cake and he's so old, he can't work any more...And Lena will be 5 in October and there's another one who is too smart for her britches.....Where do these kids come up with these things...Both girls do go to Pre school or whatever it is and I am amazed at how much they are learning...No longer the baby sitting it was when 1st started....And with JoAnn's hip, it's really the doctors...They don't have the help and many of our surgical units are closing...A friend of ours was telling us, his back doctor apologized for not being able to do him until October..He said, he is assigned 1 unit every week because of lack of nurses and help....

Got my floors all done and both bathroom's rugs are on the line....When I get back, then I'll do some uglies outside....Hopefully, later I'll pop back in and see what everyone is doing...

At this point, have no clue what dinner might be...Last night I had a burger with fresh tomato and lettuce and it was delish....I'm even being good, have been having fruit for afters.....

You all have a great rest of the day....

Happy eating...............

Irish, I need to go with you for a hair cut too.

Mary, that's a lot of berries. What's in the red relish? The class was $35.00 though the guild, and the pattern $12.00. He offer us another day of teaching to put it together to finish. The other guild that he taught the week before will host it. He's not charging extra. He's learning to teach and how long it takes to make his patterns. I think a big part of it was people didn't do the pre sewing. I work faster than most, so I'm not going the second day. He covered what I need to do, and I'm confident I can do it.

Jack took me for a walk this morning, then I went to my dad's to take care of a few things. Now I need to vacuum, then work on my Bargello.

Dinner will be spaghetti and meatballs, with a salad.

Have a lovely day.

Good afternoon!

Been busy so far today and my Termite and his band of littles will be down later this afternoon.

Mary - I used my "magic" finger, no not that one, and went on Amazon and found several different brands of red hamburger relish. You may want to try there too.

Not much else going on here. Dinner will be, sorry, banned, air fried. Works very well in there. Veggies and a salad.

Michael is doing well. We got a phone call about returning the heart monitor, it's no longer needed. A good thing! Making progress.

Well, my littles and termite just arrived,

Hugs,
Jana

Hi all!
You know I thought I stopped by yesterday but I didn't see a post from me.... strange 🤷‍♀️
I made grilled reubens last night and tonight I used the leftover meat with some leftover potatoes from another night and added green chile and made burritos out of it, they were yummy!! We have enough for lunch tomorrow.
It's after 11 here, gotta scoot to bed.
Hopefully I'll make it earlier tomorrow.
Jazmyne is spending the night and I have lasagna planned for tomorrow.
