SUPPER CLUB - Friday, June 30th

Good morning,

It's a beautiful morning here out on the deck - 58* and cloudy but going to a sunny 80* this afternoon. Could it be more purrfect?? The chickens are serranading me this morning, but the owls are sharing themselves somewhere else.

We enjoyed our dinner out last night. But boy, have restaurant prices skyrocketed. Ouch! And let's not talk about fuel. Gasoline here is is about $5.29/gallon. Our news tells us we are now the highest in the nation - higher even than CA and HI! Such a distinction! And there I went and talked about it!

Yesterday I played some in my sewing room, sneaked out of the house to buy a dash cam at Costco for Bill's Christmas present, and relaxed a bit before going out to dinner. Today's plan is to play some more in my sewing room with my Christmas swap blocks, load my OWL if Bill has time, do some relaxing on the deck and enjoy the weather.

TINA - that is wonderful that something is finally being done to make the farmer aware! But I feel so sorry about those poor cows. And grocery delivery to Dad will take one more chore off of you. I hope it works out. Glad you got your porch cleaned. Sounds like you could have a mud wallow in there with all the dirt! I hope the blowing dirt that winds its way into your house doesn't affect your sewing machines. When I bought my Bernie, they said if I even took it outside to sew it would negate my warranty because of possible dust in the air. You keep it covered when not in use, right?

JANA - everything sounds like it's a 'go' at your house with both new houses and the landscaping. I'm glad Kate and Aaron found a plan that will work better for them. I think a room designated for little sleepovers is an excellent idea! It will get used a lot more than adult sleepovers, I'm sure. So will D&K be moving this weekend? They are sure having some good luck finding furniture.

BECCA - Your caramel cakes sound so good! Wish I was there to sneak a piece! I still haven't made one.
Maybe I will do it for the Fourth, too! Your family has big doin's planned. Enjoy!

CAROL - You have really been on a soup roll lately. I think I have one more container of a "kitchen sink" soup in the freezer. I just put everything into it I could think of. Sometimes I keep a container in the freezer and toss in dibs and dabs of leftovers like veggies, bits of pasta, potato, meat. Then when the container is full, I make soup.

Last night at the restaurant I had chicken and linguini in gorgonzola sauce. Bill had salmon putanesca. The traitor! He earned himself some demerits for that! I loved my dinner. Tonite, I think I'll make a pizza because I have 1/2 jar of sauce and some sliced pepperoni and a bit of bell pepper and a cut onion. All the makin's and they all need to be et up. Along with a salad.

What's the plan at your house?

Good Morning,

Maryz - Yesterday I paid $4.89/gal at the corner gas station. I didn't want to go to Costco, but would have saved $0.60/gal if I had driven to Costco. So yes, gas is more expensive in Washington than in California! The latest dish was called a "skillet". It is delicious. The problem with these recipes are that they serve 6 or more. They use cans of ingredients, so I am having trouble reducing the size of the recipe. I need to figure out how to use fresh ingredients instead of the cans I think. We are enjoying them very much.

Unfortunately, the animals in the neighborhood figured out how to get around my wrapped Apricot tree. They ate at least 6 and there were only 12 on the tree. They were getting beautiful. I will pick the rest today.

Sheets are washed and need to go on the line outside, bed is changed, and I started the bathroom cleaning. I will be leaving for the gym in a few minutes. I plan on taking a yoga class and want to do weights first.

Yesterday I did sew the binding onto the front, so am working on hand sewing the back. If I have time I will baste the second quilt today. I would like to get it finished too!

Tina - How did it work out on the ordering of your Dad's food? I hope it works. I know it takes a lot of time.

Becca - Are you baking cakes today? Enjoy your walk!

Jana - Do you have the littles today? I think a trundle bed makes a lot of sense for a bedroom. You have the littles over quite often so they need to have a place to stay and perhaps their toys can be in there too.
Do you keep toys in the basement?

Dinner tonight will be leftovers again. Tomorrow will be new food.

Good morning!

Beautiful day here - will be hot too. Maybe even triple digits! But at least there's no humidity.

Internet provider is at the kids house right now installing the system. Daniel is home today, working and Kari is playing hooky most of the day. All the littles are over there playing in the trampoline or swings.

Yes, Grandma has toys at my house. Magnetic paper dolls is a favorite as well as the Nintendo. So there's all kinds for the bigs as well as the littles. Movies too - there's a TV in the Batt Cave.

Last night while I was working at the kitchen sink, Michael was helping me by putting away a cookie sheet in the cupboard right over my refrigerator. Well, that cupboard is up high, right behind where I was sitting and another smaller, but heavy cookie sheet slid out and clocked me right in the back of my head, leaving a huge egg! About the size of 2 large eggs! Boy it hurt! Today all swelling is gone, so I'm OK.

Dinner - we have leftovers, so they will get used up.

My Highlander should be done this afternoon. Kari will help me pick it up and return the rental. So that's about it from here.

Hugs,
Jana

Good morning all!
Miracle of miracles, I woke up this morning and the house still looks clean!
Mary, we were just talking about restaurant prices this morning too, crazy expensive! I think our gas prices are $3.29 a gallon at the moment. I feel bad about those cows too, how awful to die from lack of water. I imagine with our 100+ degree days that it didn't take very long either. I do keep my machines covered except the one a use all the time, I don't have a cover for it and thankfully my sewing room hardly ever gets actual dust in it, material dust yes but not dirt dust.
The delivery was great yesterday, we just had it come to our house though, I'm not sure if I can have it go to another address when my membership address is mine. But he only had milk for the fridge and I just kept it in mine till we were ready to take it over, sure made it nice and saved us a gallon of gas. The delivery guy was really nice and said it beat working at Dominos by a long shot, he even had a friend in the car with him.
Carol, Holly and hers are fixin to go to San Diego Monday for their vacation, I'll let her know about gas prices. Sorry about the animals finding your apricots.
Jana, oh gosh that sounds painful, did you stay awake to make sure you don't have a concussion? Glad you'll be getting your Highlander back, have they determined who was at fault? We have a toy box here, a Wii, books, tons of movies, puzzles, games galore, colored pencils and crayons and all kinds of contruction paper for crafts. Easton and Preston love to draw pictures, my fridge is covered with art and I have a special Grandparents day project on our bedroom wall.
We saw a kitty on the game cam from last night, it's a grey tabby and we've never seen it before.....maybe I can start putting food out and catch it and get it fixed and keep it :) I think that sounds like a good idea LOL I mean it's just walking around in the desert, right.....
I'm going to wash some fabric because I didn't the other day and with all the cleaning we've been doing I just didn't have the time, it's for the July lotto, plus I had found some WOW christmas fabric when I was looking for the batik background fabric. I'm hoping to just be doing me and be playing in my sewing room today, gonna put a "Do Not Disturb" sticky note on my forhead!
Let's see, supper.....something light.....we still have salad......maybe some chicken to go with it?
Tina
