Good cool, rainy morning,

No bears this morning. Just rain. Even the rooster is quiet.

Yesterday I spent most of the day in the sewing room. And today I'll finish my OWL Dec block and maybe even get my little blocks done. Yippee! Then I'll go back and do any hand embroidery on the blocks that need it and I can start putting this beast together. I'm ready to do something else. I'm even looking forward to doing some deep cleaning in this house! Bill had to jump the car yesterday to get it started and went to Tacoma to get a new battery. It was 7 yrs old so I guess we can't complain. Today we're getting out septic tank pumped. $545!! The fun never stops here.

BECCA - I do understand what you mean by keeping busy. This is why I'm always on the go - doing something. More to keep my mind busy than anything. I never sit unless it's in front of the sewing machine. I know how you miss CA and your old life every minute of every day. (( Hugs))💗 I pray you find some enjoyment in the new things you are experiencing.

LORI - I think I'll try using more ground chicken and turkey - and maybe even make meatballs more often! Do you ever make them up ahead and freeze them? I not only hate cleaning my fridge, I hate my fridge! I will never ever order another appliance on-line. Ding dang Covid!! It's so big and deep that things get lost and I have to stand on a stool to reach the back of the shelves. I keep wishing it will fail So I can get a different one. That being said, I LOVE the bottom freezer! So I guess it's a trade-off. I have a nephew that is also allergic to cherries.

JANA - I hope your windstorm died down quickly! Did you make your gnocchi? I love it but have never made it. I just order it in restaurants. I have recipes and keep meaning to try it.

CAROL - I rarely make dessert or serve bread with our meals. But sometimes . . . And I found some Amanda Flowers audiobooks and downloaded them from the library. Or at least I reserved them. A few days ago I was looking only through the "available now" section and at that time, none were available.

TINA - you reminded me that I have one last big potato and I think I'll use it up tonite. Fried with onions sounds good to me! Maybe with a pork chop?

Today is day 2 of 3 of Bill's colonoscopy prep. There is a whole list of things that he can't have right now and it's stifling my "creativity" in the kitchen. But maybe a pork chop, those fried potatoes, and frozen peas will work. He can't have salad, any fruit, raw veggies, nuts, seeds, corn, anything red, and the list goes on. But I'll make his jello today and we have plenty of clear liquids for tomorrow. I wonder what I'll eat . . . .

And what will you be eating tonite?

Good morning all!
Mary, I figured you'd be there first one finished with OWL, seeing it finished will encourage me to keep going 😊
7 years is a good life for a battery but yucky when you have to replace them, they keep going up in cost. Yikes septic costs at the same time.
Can Bill eat onions? I thought those were on the no eat list?
Well my fried potatoes didn't happen, they went bad, ugh. So they're on my grocery list. We ended up with grilled burgers and a salad.
Sammy is still crying for hours, she's started venturing out with the dogs but paces and cries some.... she's looking for her mommy 💔
I think I'll be in my sewing room today, all the laundry is done, the floors and dusting so far don't look too bad so maybe I can ignore it. That's my problem, having a hard time ignoring the dust on everything.
Supper tonight is our pizza night, we haven't been for a month.
Tina

Tina, Mary is focused on that OWL project. I can't wait to see it. I going slow and only committing to one block a month. More if I get time. I've got too many other projects in the works.

Mary, I don't like ground turkey at all. Ground chicken makes nice tender meatballs. I actually like them better.

Becca, I wouldn't like not having a washing machine either.

Dinner will be leftovers or cereal tonight. I've been busy all morning and it's time to sew. I think I'll go get a pedicure 1st.

Have a lovely day.

Good afternoon!

Dinner - up in the air - the kids are heading over to a place nearby called Furniture Row. Beds, couches, tables, desks, etc. All solid wood in one long set of stores. So we'll eat whatever we find here tonight.

Maryz - my gnocchi recipe is from America's Test Kitchen. It uses potato flakes and that takes the guess work on the amount offlour and water nil. The hardest part of gnocchi making is getting the dough right. So I'm trying this recipe. I have a wooden gnocchi paddle to shape them. My kids all love them and so mama is tasked in learning.

Lori - I use turkey burger all the time and when I do meatballs, I make a panade - soaked bread in milk- that seems to keep them tender.

Tina - I feel for your dust! Mine is gone, but I can imagine from seeing what we had, how bad you have it!

Becca - hope the new hearing aids work well for you.

Kari got the carpet meatballs this morning and the company had a cancelation for tomorrow, so it will be installed then. She is also working on the internet service - same as we have here- for their house. The rest of the utilities are already up and running. When we saw the house last night, Daniel was doing what a architect does - measure, record and will draw the floor plan, exactly as built. He plans where the best location is for all the furniture. There's a funky placed light for a dining table, right in the middle of all the traffic flows in the kitchen/great room. We found a much better place for their table and Daniel is taking care of that hanging light. It's also too low and you'll bang you head.

So as soon as my yard gets done m we'll be onto flooring here. I found what I want, and the color is what Michael wants. Now to find it in a store here. Not ordering it from the internet.

So not much else going on here.

Hugs,
Jana

Good Afternoon,

This morning I went to Farmer's Market then came home and made the Farro Spring Vegetable Salad. I also made Sugar Cookies.

Lori - I use turkey burger as well. I haven't tried Ground Chicken, but with the Turkey I buy the 99% Fat Free. I don't think it is available in Chicken.

Maryz - I am in agreement with others that you would be one of the first ones to finish the OWL project. Sounds like you are having repairs done as well. Hope you were in the driveway when the battery decided to quit working. I prefer to have them go out when I am home.

Jana - Glad to hear you gave stamp of approval on the house. lol Daniel is lucky to have you looking, others may not have realized the poor placement of the light in the dining room.

Becca - It is to be expected that you miss your house and CA. Many (((HUGS))).

Tina - Dust! Wow it must be awful. I don't like the wind, but would hate dust!

Dinner tonight will be at Guild. It is our annual Potluck. I have made the Farro Spring Vegetable Salad and Sugar Cookies. I have already taste tested too many sugar cookies so will try to stick to the salad I made and some fruit.

Carol

OK gnocchi report - very easy, and yummy too! Even Michael said they were good and he's not a gnocchi fan. One thing I learned is get them a consistent small size - they called to be 3/4 ". They freeze too. It's a definite keeper. And my little gnocchi board that makes the ridge with your thumb worked beautifully. You can you a regular dinner fork too.
