Good morning,
We were 80* yesterday - MUCH cooler today. And cloudy. A "marine layer" it's called. Kind of refreshing. I might work in the yard for a few hours after our morning appt in Tacoma with our attorney to sign some papers. And I might start the Aug OWL block. Lots of options to choose from today.
JANA - close call with the lightening bolt! Bet you're happy now you have surge protectors! We do, too, though during storms we do unplug everything anyway, just to be safe. We have a surger protector in our trailer, too, that has saved us a few times when we've encountered faulty wiring in RV parks. Your pizza party sounds fun! My massage therapist built a big brick pizza oven in his back yard and had a party to christen it. All the guests built their own personal pizzas and he slid them into the oven on a big pizza paddle and we could watch them cook through a peephole in the oven. You could build a pizza oven outside too - a summer project! It'll be fun!
BECCA - I would prefer doing my own laundry, too. I'd probably do my sheets and towels as well, but nice to have the option to send them out.
LORI - your quilt is fun! I love the colors! Someone will love it. I have made backs like that, too, to use up leftover fabrics.
I think tonite I'll make French Country Chicken and Rice - a recipe I found in the BC One-pot/Casserole Cookbook I got at Goodwill a few weeks ago. If I have chicken. I need to check the freezer. And a salad. If there's no chix around I guess I'll look for another recipe and get back to you on that.
Any thoughts yet on what you are having?

Good afternoon!
Quiet around here today. Kari has family visiting and they're out to lunch before the family leaves this afternoon. I have laundry going and will head downstairs in a short time. Kitchen is back in order after the pizza bar last night. The kids had a ball , rolling out the dough, then carefully and very creatively arranging their pizza. Karlie's dessert was very yummy. It will be better today, because the cookies will have softened more. They were still a bit crunchy, but good anyway. Michael at 9ne time worked in a pizza parlor and knows how to hand toss and spin pizza dough, so he should the kids and they tried it too.
Dinner - could be chicken with gravy or steaks with a baked potato. Just need to check on which I have.
So not much else here. Chilly outside today, so maybe no thunderstorms this afternoon.
Hugs,
Jana

Hi everyone.
Sorry I went missing but we had a terrible thing happen and I'm really down in the dumps.
Sunday Kevin, Maria, Matthew and Elijah came from Cruces and Holly, Jazmyne, Easton and Preston came over and it was Dad's night for supper and it was a great day, until it wasn't.
The kids all stayed here till right at 10:20 I think it was and the kids were in and out playing and having fun with each other, no problem. Games were being played and fun was being had by all. The kids started heading out and getting in the vehicles and when they were leaving my calico; Winnie hopped the fence to come in for the night but I guess Frankie didn't see her or didn't hear Holly tell him she wanted in and he didn't let her in and with the kids making bunches of noise she hopped back over the fence. Holly text me from down the road about 5 minutes later that emergency vehicles were headed to a fire and Frankie was brushing his teeth and he goes running through the house because he heard a horrible commotion outside. A mountain lion got Winnie at our front gate and it still had her when he went running out and Sammy (our other cat) came running in scared to death. The mountain lion dropped Winnie but it was too late.

He runs back in for a gun but it was across the street at our mailbox just sitting there watching us. He got in his truck after it but it stayed just ahead of him and was circling back around to come back for Winnie. It was a scary, stressful, watchful heartbreaking couple if hours. He ended up taking her to the garage so he could bury her the next day. That mountain lion had to have been out there when the kids were, watching them which petrified us just thinking about it. It has us pretty freaked out. The next day I called Frankie's niece and nephew to let them know and his niece has been having cats disappear the last 2 to 3 weeks, she's missing at least 13 cats, they're fixed barn cats that she has because of snakes and stuff. She noticed some weren't coming up for food and then realized just 2 days before how many she's actually missing. This thing has been really feasting on cats for a few weeks now. I sent a message to our federal/ state trapper who've we've known forever and asked him if he could come do something about it. Not sure what he has to do first but he said yes. We had a bunch of deer come through last night when Frankie was closing the chickens up for the night, they just watched him and didn't run away and they weren't very far away from him. I can't figure why that cat wasn't going after the deer.
Sammy is crying nonstop except to fall asleep exhausted, Winnie was her mommy and they had never been separated except when Sammy was 8 weeks old and they spayed her before they'd let us bring her home.
I sure hope they find that cat!
Supper tonight will be pork chops, zucchini and macaroni salad.

Tina, I'm so sorry about Winnie. It's heart breaking when you lose you're furry kids. That is very scary to think there was a big cat near by when the kids were out playing.
Jana, pizza night sounds fun. I bet the kids had a blast.
Mary, that was a tester quilt. I have another one in the process with greens and white background. It will be going to my Bio mom for her 80th birthday next month. The last few months all we've had was the marine layer all day. We normally get sun in the afternoon, but it's been too thick.
We just got back from late lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant, so no dinner tonight. I have my guild meeting anyway.
Have a lovely evening.

Good Afternoon,
Maryz - I found a recipe for Country-Style Chicken in the International Cookbook by BC. It calls for a whole chicken. It is a French recipe.
Tina - That was scary!!! A big cat right outside. I am so sorry about Winnie. It is so hard to lose a pet. (((HUGS)))
Jana - Pizza night sounds like fun and so nice everyone could help by making their own.
Lori - Our Guild meeting is next Tuesday.
It has been a shopping day for me and I still need to go to grocery store. I have been to Costco and Farmer's Market.
Our Sprinkler System was not completely working, and we called the Sprinkler Man a few weeks ago and got no response. I called today at noon, and he came over and fixed it. Turned out to be some cut wires probably from the weed whacker. DH will be surprised when he gets home this evening from jury duty.
Last night we went out to dinner after a trip to the bookstore. DH was off and we felt we needed to spend some time together. Dinner tonight will be Mac & Cheese. I have a recipe for a Spring Salad so need a couple of things from the store.

This has been a good day!
Not only did the final everything for the kids house happen - signing and keys on Friday, the landscaper is here with our drawings and is working up a quote to do our yard! Whoo hoo! I may have lawn yet again! It's not going to be cheap, but what the heck, it's just money. LOL! I have a stash of fabric to get me through.
