SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, May 16th

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue May 16, 2023 5:24 am

Good morning,

It's good to be home again. Yesterday was laundry, cleaning trailer, and then working on the flannel shirt I've had sitting on my work table, half-finished. Arghhh!! Either I need to sew more clothing to keep in practice or quit altogether. I used to be quite good - making a shirt in less than a day. Now I'd be happy to get it finished in less than a month! lol! Maybe I can get it done today. Or tomorrow, anyway. Seriously re-thinking the third one. I want to go back to the OWL but figured I'd better sew responsibly and finish this first.

It's been hot here the last two days - 88* on our deck. Last evening a breeze came up and we cooled off nicely. Today will only be 80*. Still hot for a PNW May.

BECCA - the garden stroll sounds nice. So it sounds like, while you are next up for an apartment, it could be a long wait. Are you looking at other places at all in the meantime?

CAROL - those shopping bags will be nice. I have a few and can just tuck them into my purse. They sure come in handy now that stores don't give out bags any longer!

JANA - keep us posted on the kids' house! It sounds like a purrfect house for Daniel - lots of opportunities for projects for him, and he seems like a project guy. Is Karlie excited?

Tonite we're going to grill on the deck. The HOH has spoken and he wants steak. I'll make a salad and nuke two small baked potatoes.

What's happening on your plate tonite?

Good Morning,

Maryz - Sure you will conquer the shirt pattern. Which pieces are giving you trouble? I think all the heat went north. We did not see the sunshine yesterday, but it was about 70*. I had on my lightest weight sweatshirt.

Becca - It sounds like this might be a long wait for a place, but that probably means the facility is a very good one. Glad to hear of an update on all of your littles.

Tonight is Guild meeting for me and DH will also be going to a meeting. I think we decided to have turkey leftovers for lunch and then eat a smaller dinner on our own. DH has quite a drive and can get something.

At the end of the Guild meeting there is an auction. This month it is only three items, a hankerchief quilt top, a Janome 3300 and a tumbler quilt top kit (partially sewn I think). The member who usually does it is sick and will not be attending the meeting. She asked me to fill in for her. I have never done an auction so wish me luck. The auction is for those in the room as well as those on Zoom. (If any of you wish to attend the meeting Susy Nash will be speaking and you can go to South Bay Quilters Guild dot org and for the price of $5.00 you can attend the meeting.)

Carol, she was at our guild in April. She's a little all over the place when she's speaking.

Mary, dang that is warm for you. Hope you finish the shirt and it's easier than where you left off. BTW, I posted my Jen Kingwell "Long Time Gone" while you were away.

I spent the morning up at my dads tree trimming, laundry, and a few other things. With all the rain, his apple tree went crazy. I filled a barrel of trimming just from the tree. I had just sat down at home when Bill came home from golf. So we went to lunch at Cheesecake factory. I had the salmon and it was yummy.
Now to finish up my laundry and sew a bit. I started a new quilt with fabric I won last week at guild.
I wanted to try out this pattern before I made one I'm going to give as a gift. It's coming together pretty fast and easy. Hopefully I'll have the top together by tonight.

No dinner since lunch was a bit late. Probably just snack.

Have a lovely evening.

Good afternoon!

Our afternoon thunderstorm has rolled through. A drip or two of rain. Mostly noise.

The lkds put in an offer in on the house, so now we wait and see if the owners counter. The owners had it way overpriced and no takers, so they lowered the price this weekend. It's still over by about 50,000, so the kids put in an offer at comps and will go up a bit. So we'll see. Daniel came home early to get all the paperwork ready for their agent. He said he had no stress or fear stepping into a fully engulfed burning building or facing a huge wall of flames in a wildland fire, this buying a house is scaring him to death! Karlie has already picked out which bedroom she wants. It will probably change, as the silly girl picked the smallest one.

Dinner is chicken, rice and cauliflower with cheese sauce.

Mary - guess what, you were warmer than us yesterday! Hope your mach8ne gets home soon. Sometimes in clothing patterns, there are oddball pieces that you can do without. Maybe this is one of them.

Carol - you'll be a great auctioneer! Smile and have lots of fun doing it!

Becca - oh I hope your wait isn't that long! But then again, Denise is loving have you to spoil!

.Lori - our trees here too have finally started to take off in growth. I need to trim off some s7ckers at ground level on mine.

Ignored the Batt Cave today, tomorrow is another day!

Hugs,
Jana
