SUPPER CLUB - Wed, May 3rd
Posted: Wed May 03, 2023 8:12 am
Good morning,
We're having the second of our 2-day streak of nice weather - low to mid 70's. Then it's all going literally, down the drain. 50's and rain will be back tomorrow. So today will be another day of yard work for me. I got some done yesterday, cleaned our shop as much as I could by myself (Bill was gone to help a friend build a gazebo), and pulled all my yard art out of storage. Most of it still needs to be placed around the yard, but at least I've got it "staged". My machine has been in the shop and this morning I got an e-mail that it needs a part, which was ordered but will take from 1 to 3 weeks to come in. So, poor "Chip" is on an extended vacation and "Stitch" had to come in from the trailer and take over Chip's duties. And with rain coming in, the yard will sit and sewing will commence once again. I have Feb OWL sitting on my work table, a half-finished shirt, plus I want to make some flower blocks for May Lotto. And if you haven't checked out the pictures of flowers posted yet in that thread, you should take a peek. Beautiful things can happen with fabric!
IRISH - I've seen some of your weather on the Hays Eagle Cam. A few days ago they were panting with heat and last couple days they looked cold and wet. But they are growing fast and there are feathers! And you have been busy yourself! Are the shots helping? As for phones and computers - I'm a dud. Bill's my go-to guy. He sets everything up for me. He makes me look smart, but it's all smoke and mirrors.
JANA - yay for a fridge! Glad the second one didn't go into the reject pile! Did the delivery guys take your old one downstairs for you? What kind did you get? My fridge is kind of organized by what I have in it and that often changes. But the condiments and cooking sauces and milk are all in the door, along with other tall bottles of stuff. (baslamic vinegar, open wine, juice, etc. I use the top shelf very little because I can't reach it except for the very front so I line things up along the front and hope nothing gets shoved to the back. I'd have to get the ladder to fetch it.
CAROL - As to our 20-yr constsruction along 10 miles - they didn't 'repair' it, but they did add a couple more lanes, tore out overpasses, built new ones, rerouted ramps, added a few fly-over ramps that help reduce congestion. It was a bigger deal than building a new 10-lane freeway from scratch because they had to remove old stuff and deal with horrendous traffic. Was still annoying and I avoided it all whenever possible, but it was understandable. Sad/happy thing is I'm starting to see construction barrels going up now in next section of freeway. Sigh.
BECCA - Finding a new doctor that takes Medicare patients can be a real trial. I've been through 4 doctors in the last 10 years. Two retired, another turned into "concierge" where you had to pay $35/month just to be a patient whether you saw the doctor or not, and now we're on our fourth, a young woman who we really like. So hang in there!
I have no clue about supper tonite. I'd like to grill something as it's going to be a nice evening and we'll be out on the deck anyway. But we just grilled chicken, pork chops, and kielbasa. We do have a steak. And 1/2# hamburger. Or maybe we'll just have cheese and crackers and a salad. Maybe one of you will have a great idea for me. I don't want to go to the store. Not quite ready yet for that.
What's happening on your plate tonite?
