SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, February 25th
Good chilly morning!
We are 25* this morning and it's going to be like that for a few more days. We might even get snow anytime between now and Tuesday. They keep changing the forecast. So I guess we'll see . . .
Still working on shirts. Got the sleeves on, (yes - with flat felled seams!), and one cuff. Of course, I put the cuff on wrong so I have to frog that this morning and re-do it. I turned the continuous lap the wrong way. Sigh. But the shirt - a size 42, is small for Bill (he is my model) so I guess I need to go buy a new pattern. Argghhhh... This shirt will fit Alec, but no one else. We'll be going by Joann's later today so I will stop in and see what I can find. And the reason we'll be going by Joann's, which is right off I-5 in Tacoma, is we are driving south about 70 miles to Shelton to meet with Bill's sis and dbil at a BBQ restaurant for lunch. We won't get home until about 4pm so not much time to make more errors today. Whew!
Yesterday Scottie got his hair done. He looks like somebody else's dog! While he was at his appt, we ran a few errands for Bill. But we ended up at a different Costco 30 mi north and I picked up a couple of cute 3 mo size outfits for Kumquat. And today they should be receiving 10 doz diapers and a case of baby wipes. Surprise! I talked with Aut's friend in TX and they are planning a shower for her after Kumquat makes her appearance.
CAROL - thank you for the quilt show tour! Yes, I do my sleeves like you. I thought about doing assembly line sewing, but decided I better do at least the first one alone. I'd rather make all my mistakes on just one shirt instead of all of them! lol! Besides, I wasn't sure just what size "Size 42" was going to turn out to be. And so glad I did that!
BECCA - So happy to hear you have better news about the house. Hopefully it all plays out just that way.
IRISH - I remember when Ozzie was injured. We were all sad, but Harriet found a new young fellow. Now I feel badly about Harriet! But such is nature. With people, too. I hope everyone in the nest does well and if we need New Mama, that she gets accepted. When are the babies expected to fledge?
VELDA - I often use my seam ripper like that and it goes much quicker but like you said - it's messy! I find sometimes ironing with steam helps remove the little bits or I use a lint roller. And sometimes, through the course of reusing the fabric, the last bits disappear. When I'm all done, I wipe down my work space, vacuum, and wash my clothes. lol!
Supper here tonite will be either leftover pork chops and scalloped potatoes, or there might be lunch leftovers. Or we might not even be hungry! Tomorrow I'm making white chili and friends are coming over. They are the friends that both talk NON-STOP and stay late. Sometimes, Bill and I feel like we are at a tennis match with our heads swiveling back and forth, one to the other. lol! But, silver lining, we never have to worry about conversation lagging.
What's the plan at your house?

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, February 25th
Good late morning from a chilly but a little sunny, SW. Pa....Not much happening in my neck of the woods...Today was going to be my big cleaning day but so far nothing has been getting done, except cleaning up the dishes....I make my best plans while laying in bed at night and somewhere along the night, they're all out the window....
I had a text from both Nick and his wife and they are counting the days as so am I....Stephan, the old one keeps saying, he's not staying in and wants to buy property back in N. Carolina and build...He said, he doesn't like the idea of being in the AF and relocating after 3 or 4 years, where Nick said, it's an adventure and both he and Trisha are looking forward to seeing and living in different places....
Mary, wouldn't you think a size 42 would remain 42 but then maybe people are bigger these days....When I think about it, I wouldn't know where to start, sewing clothes again, lol....But, those shirts will be treasured..Our late DDIL had made Jim a shirt, way back when and I had it made into a teddy bear....Enjoy your day, sounds busy as always.....I need some of your "pep".....
Becca, really sounds like things are coming together...After having such a big house, you'll soon have lots of time for yourself to do what you want to do...It's strange at 1st but doesn't take long to really love it.....
Chriss, was so sorry to hear hubby is having a rough time...But, with all the prayers and good thoughts coming his way, he'll coming out on the winning side.....
Carol, I also want to thank you for the quilt show, it was great....Makes me want to try harder, quite an inspiration......Of course, seeing the quilts that you've made and posted is special.....
Well, should do something, even if it's wrong as my dear late friend in Florida always said....Even if I just run the vacuum cleaner, but should dust, 1st, but also have so much yarn, might just work on the afghan I started...See how fast I can talk myself out of "uglies"...
Not sure what might be on the menu for tonight...My sister and I are friends with a couple who loves to play cards but that also includes eating out 1st....That could be a possibility....But, what ever, I won't go hungry....
You all have a great rest of the day!
Happy eating................

Good Morning!
Maryz - The Grapevine has been closed since sometime last night. There are several other places the freeways have been closed due to flooding. Glad you enjoyed the show. Have a nice day with your DBIL and DSIL! Scottie must be very happy to have the grooming finished. Bet he is beautiful.
Irish - I am so glad you enjoyed the show. It is fun to see it in person, but was delightful to view it again online. I cleaned house yesterday so can sew today. I am working on the Tennessee Waltz Quilt I started a couple weeks ago. Enjoy the card game.
Becca - Glad you got a break from house clearing. It is hard work and must be emotionally exhausting. Prayers are with you.
Today I will spend most of my time in the sewing room. Dinner is leftover Autumn Soup. I will make fresh Cheese Garlic Biscuits.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, February 25th
This is late again. I was so busy sewing lap quilt tops. Then I had to cut backs to correct size and piece up the scraps of batting to the correct sizes. I got 5 lap quilts made out of those valances. I was pleased.
Tonight is a dance and this community center sells sandwiches and has homemade pies.
Hope to get here sooner tomorrow.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, February 25th
Good afternoon!
I have three giggly girls, sewed a few parts of the sawtooth stars, and washed and polished all my lower kitchen cabinets. Also polished and cleaned the stove and dishwashers. One face of my island. I'm tired! Later I'll move up and clean the backsplash. Ethan will need to do most of my upper cabinets, as I can't stand very long to do those. Plus he can do the upper uppers, which are glass doors. There are two layers of upper cabinets. I guess spring cleaning has started! Guess that happens when you have a large family gathering for a brunch. Can't let the in laws see dirt! LOL! Brunch is next Saturday morning.
Not much more happening here. Kate will be back shortly to get her littles.
Daniel has a friend that was driving from California to Iowa for work. He does hardwood floors - he does fabulous work - he did my house in California, but had work with family in Iowa. Well he got stuck with all the storms up in Wyoming this last week, so came back here as all the roads are closed going East, and he took the southern route through Vegas, which was still open. He will probably come back here later this year and do the floors in this house. We are still debating real hardwood or very high grade LVT. He and Daniel do both.
Dinner - I think everyone will be on their own. Tomorrow I'll do either ribs or a pot roast after church. Pot roast is winning as I want mashed potatoes and gravy.
Carol - enjoyed the video of the show - thanks for sharing.
Becca - glad you found a good place for the things at the house. Closing early can be good.
Mary - lunch out sounds yummy! And a stop for a pattern too. Hope the other shirts work out and fit.
Vel - 5 tops! Wow! Your patience paid off.
Well, those last uglies aren't getting any prettier!
Hugs,
Jana

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, February 25th
Hi everyone!
Sorry sliding in late again.
We went yesterday and bought the dishwasher and a water heater. I had to go in so I could see
the dishwashers. I picked out the middle priced whirlpool. Our last one was a whirlpool and it lasted about 25 years, I'll be happy if this one lasts half that even. Frankie's been taking out the old and redoing some things to fit the new one in, they all seemed to be a hair bigger these days.
My leg was giving me fits after walking around Lowe's and the drive over and back but somehow I managed to sleep from midnight to 6 without waking up. I've been the reader of instructions today. It's ready to go in but he's checking the flooring tomorrow first before he puts it in. I think he's going to take my step up into the kitchen out first, neither of us like it and lots of people trip on it.
We had take home Mexican food tonight because the hot water can't be used yet.
I'm waving to you all and hugging you all.
Tina

Mary, pattern sizes are never the same as clothes off the rack. The information printed on the actual pattern seems to be the most accurate. I have a blouse cut out ready to sew. Maybe I'll make it this week.
Dinner was honey, ginger chicken with rice and zucchini.
Sleep well.
