Good stormy morning!

We've got wind and rain this morning which, if it doesn't lighten up before 8am, will put the kibash on my morning walk. I'll walk in light rain, but not in hard rain or in wind. Too many big trees here!

The dog alarm went off at 3am this morning. Apparently the owls were having a hooting contest and Scott fancied himself a contestant. And if extra points were given for volume, he won, paws down!

Yesterday was a good day - I finished Bill's Christmas stocking and posted a photo. Then I gave my massage therapist his motorcycle quilt and posted a photo of that, too. He was REALLY happy. He actually jumped up onto the massage table to hold the quilt out for a photo! In the afternoon I had time to make the labels for the Nutcracker quilts. Today I am going to put those labels on the quilts, resurrect my old hexie project - maybe. And maybe get my Cabbage Hill pattern - Over the River and Through the Woods - ready to embroider. It's 3 embroidered scenes separated by pieced blocks, so I need to pull some fabrics, too. As if I need more projects! I'm just not sure yet what I'm in the mood for. Bill and I both have dr appts this morning - just BP checks. And Scottie gets sutures removed this afternoon. Between the three of us we've had 8 appts of various kinds and 2 social dates, all in the last 5 days. We'd be foundering without our calendar!

BECCA - glad you had time for your walk yesterday. It's a great way to start (or finish) a day. So nice of your neighbor to bring you that pulled pork! I bet it was tasty with that garnish of friendship.

LORI - so happy to hear Jack is feeling better. My sis was down for a day, too. Maybe they had the same thing . . . Congrats on getting the binding on the elephant quilt! I am bundling up now on my morning walks - even scarves and gloves, though no ear muffs yet. But looking at next week's forecast, I better dig them out!

TINA - I'm guessing both you and Frankie needed that sleep. I imagine it did you both a world of good. For a small town (~9,000+ official pop) we have quite a bit of shopping opportunities though I don't go often. We don't give a lot of gifts, and make most of the ones we do give.

CAROL - you will be all set for your quilt show in Feb! Thanks for those links. They were interesting. We voted last week - the very day our ballots arrived in the mail. We were able to track them on-line and they were "checked in" two days later at the auditor's office.

I've been soaking beans overnight and am going to make a pot of chili today. It's that kind of weather. Any leftovers, I will freeze for a travel meal - something to just warm up quickly after a long day on the road. It will take us 10-12 days to travel to Austin so I like to stock up with 2 weeks of easy to fix meals.

What's on your menu for tonite?

Mary, your stocking is very cute. That sure is a lot of work. I bet he'll love it. You are on a mission to get the handwork projects going. I really need to finish my hexie quilt I started 10 years ago.
And I also have the Vintage tin embroidery. You inspire me to get those done. So do you shut the dog alarm off and go back to bed? When mine do that, I go right back to sleep. I made some beans last week for chili. I made enough for 4 batches of chili. I freeze them for when I need them.

We have a heater repair guy out checking our new heater. Apparently when they installed it, they crossed wires and it wasn't working properly. Then they came to fix it and messed up the fan system. This guy seems to know more about the system, so hopefully it will work right this time.

I need to get the oil changed in my Tahoe today. Then I have no plans.

The potato ham soup last night was yummy, so I think we'll do it again tonight.

Have a lovely day.

Good afternoon!

Michael and Sarah are off to Costco. We only needed milk, so I stayed home. They are bringing banned home for dinner and I will use the air fryer to fix it. We'll see how Karlie does with it.

Michael is doing fine after his escapade of falling this morning. He has no balance in the dark and trying to put on his jeans wasn't a good idea. One of these days, he'll realize that he's not the spring chicken anymore and needs to do things in a new way.

Carol thank you for the book idea for Karlie - I am checking it out.

Mary - wow, that was a lot of work in that stocking. And he never paid attention? I love how you label boxes you are hiding in the teailer! Around here, things labeled Nunya, means just stay out and don't ask questions. None of your business! Even the check book gets posted that way until January. The quilt was definitely received with love,

Becca - so happy the treat are helping. You are always so busy.

Lori - glad that puppy is feeling better. My new friend, the kitty, keeps me busy being her staff.

Tina - hope you're feeling better. No fun not feeling well.

Well, I am off to find trouble, I'm good at that!

Hugs,
Jana

Good Afternoon,

Today is clean bathrooms, change the bed and wash towels and sheets. I also made a trip to Target and got my second Shingles vaccine. It is now after lunch and I am sewing.

Maryz - Glad you could give your massage therapist his new quilt. It is just so fitting and beautiful. I loved his comment upon seeing his photo. Hope you got your walk in today between raindrops. The other day I couldn't go out with all the cold and rain. Yesterday I put on my heavy jacket and just went out. The first cold snap is always like this. Less than two weeks ago I went to Disneyland and wore short sleeves and no jacket. How can it be this cold?

Jana - I hope Karlie likes the story. I gave my copy of the book to my niece at the shower. The artwork is beautiful, they are wood cuts. I think there are a lot of lessons in the book including history, art, math and science. Glad Michael was not hurt in the fall. Falls are dangerous!

Lori - I look forward to seeing your finished quilt. You seem to finish things quickly, so I am sure we will see it soon. Glad to hear Jack is feeling better. How old is he?

Becca - Hope you got to catch some sunshine. It is very bright here, just chili!

Tonight's dinner is up in the air. We could have pizza, but we could also have ham and scalloped potatoes or even meatloaf. I have not been inspired to work in the kitchen cooking. Soon!

Carol
