SUPPER CLUB - Halloween!

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Oct 31, 2022 6:31 am

Good morning and happy Halloween!

It's a dark and stormy morning here. Was windy through the night. I was up a large part of the night and didn't miss a single gust!

Yesterday I cut fabric pieces for my Elf Mug Rugs, then went out to the trailer and started stowing things. After that, the day was all about laundry and football. Our drawers are full of "cleanies" and our teams all won. A good day!

Today: Scottie has dr appt at 0800. I'm hoping we can lose the cone. His dr is retiring today and she wanted to do his post-op check herself, but his stitches may have to wait another 3 days to come out. I just would like to get rid of the cone around his neck. I'm thinking Scottie would, too. I might make one or two FPP Elf Mug Rugs today, or I might just work on my cross stitch. I'm getting so close to finishing. I could take it on the road, but it's on a large frame and just one more big thing to cart along. So I'm pushing to get it finished (Xmas Stocking for Bill).

CAROL - a day of sewing! It's what we all hope for! Are you doing much sewing for Christmas? I've seen that line tamer ruler but forgot what it's like. I should Google it.

LORI - who is the Wooded Whimsey going to when it's finished? You?? Every now and then I need to take a break from sewing, too, and just read, stitch, clean, garden, or go camping.

JANA - did K & K make it home as planned? I bet Karlie has stories to tell! Your turkey dinner sounds delish! I haven't cooked a whole turkey for years. We generally just do a breast (or two) because we all like the white meat here. I kept tabs on your 49ers yesterday just for you. And cheered when they won. Please give me credit. We also cheered on the Broncos playing in London and of course, our own Seahawks! All winners yesterday!

I texted IRISH a few days ago and she answered last night. She has had a really rough time of it. She's still suffering from her Lyme's Disease, had a small car accident which wrinkled her beloved Ruby, and then had another stroke which her neighbor caught when they were visiting at the mail box and Irish was suddenly unable to speak or keep hold of her mail. This won her a ride in an ambulance. Her Lymes is complicated by the stroke - or perhaps the other way around. So the doctors are still trying to figure things out. She is home and, I guess doing fairly well, all things considered, because she said she was getting X-stitched quilt blocks from Kevin that Cindy had done to make a quilt for "the new baby". I hadn't known there was a new baby in the works - due on Thanksgiving. And she's able to make a quilt for him/her so that's good. Oh, and all her finances have been compromised and she received notice that her money was all being sent to Russia. The bank and the police are working on that scam. She has had a lot going on.

Supper here tonite is going to be polenta and roasted veggies. I'm not sure yet how I'll do the polenta. JANA - I know you have this occasionally. What's your favorite way to serve it? I haven't made it in a long time. I'm thinking of a sauce over slices, but debating the sauce: marinara, cheese, Dijon, gravy. . . .

What are you debating over for your supper tonite?

Good morning!

Mary - around here, my polenta is a thick mush consistency, with lots of butter and parm stirred in and served, usually with a marinara sauce. Sometimes meat in the sauce, other times not. I also cook my polenta in a chicken broth instead of water. I have meatballs from Costco that I use as well. Polenta is great with chicken caccatorre. Thanks for the cheering help! Aaron was over here, but didn't watch the game until, after it was over - I taped it. Skipped through the commercials and the 5alking heads that way.

So glad, but sorry to hear of our Irish's troubles. She came to mind while I was sitting in church yesterday. Many prayers that she will overcome these challenges. She will!

Dinner her is up in the air, as the kids are heading to Matt's tonight to ToT his neighborhood and have doughnuts and hot chocolate at his house. We'll stay here and pass out candy to our neighborhood kids. I have a huge bag from Costco, that should last for a short time. We get many!

Sandee sent over a request for some new masks. She catches everything at school and they help. I have her stash of Charlie Brown fabric here, and will use that. They don't take long to whip up. Then I will sew on my CR quilt. Found a wide backing, on Amazon and it will be here Friday.

Well, off to get my day underway,
Hugs,
Jana

Good Morning,

Dinner tonight will be Chili and Cornbread. To me it is a Halloween tradition. We had to eat a meal before we went ToT. We do not get but less than five ToT. None of the neighbors have lights on and the children do not walk up and down the hill. BTW they do like to skateboard down the hill unfortunately they like doing it the wrong way on a one-way street. We do have some candy to give away, but DH will probably eat most of it.

Maryz - I am trying to quilt tops that are done. I had a list of 13 at the beginning of the year and I am working on number ten. I have added two as well. Meanwhile I take classes and need to finish those projects. I also want to finish a quilt for the show. I looked at one on Saturday to make bigger and made more blocks for it on Sunday, unfortunately I miscalculated. I cannot make the quilt bigger without making four blocks that I do not have the fabric. It is one of the three green quilts I received fabric when I was President.

Thank you for reaching out to Irish. I was thinking of her too the other day. I will add her to my prayers.

Jana - Sounds like a fun time this evening at Matt's. Your dinner sounds really good! Hope you get some sewing done today.

Becca - Floors do get dirty quickly! I am just glad to have wood and tile floors throughout the house. It makes cleaning much easier.

I got up much later than usual today and had to take my "don't eat anything" for an hour pill (for Osteoporosis). Time is almost up and will be able to eat in about five minutes.

I plan on sewing today. I need to correct an error made on the class project then I can put it together. I used Superior Bottom Line thread instead of Invisible thread and it was a good substitute.

Hi everyone!
Sorry I've been MIA again, maybe I should change my name to that, it seems to happen more often than not lately. I guess my bad headache was a sign of a head cold. So I've been knocked down but I'm feeling better today.

Happy Halloween!

Mary, glad you checked on Irish. Wow, I'm glad her neighbor was in the right place at the right time. That's crazy about her finances, surely the banks can stop that or the police.
I'm glad Scotty got his cone off, I bet he is too.
Jana, fun times in your neighborhood tonight!
Becca, my floors get so dirty! We can go a week with just us and the dogs and you'd think we had all the kids and grands running through the house. I don't know how they get so dirty. We have wood floors, I think they show more dirt, at least I didn't notice it with carpet. LOL
Carol, wow 10 quilts done off your list, I'm in awe of you!
I've got the bed stripped, I'm crazy about germs when I'm sick, I like to eradicate as many as possible so they don't just go around and around. I'll be spraying lysol again and wiping everything down again today. I think I've turned that corner to betterness and don't want it back.
I'll still be taking it easy though. Maybe even getting back to more elf stuff today. Mailing deadline is 23 days away and it would be bad bad if the head Santa was late..... can't have that happening.
Supper tonight will be leftover roast that I had in the crockpot all day yesterday. It was very yummy last night.
