SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Oct 27

Good morning,

It's going to be a soggy, windy day here. They are talking possible downed trees and power lines. Though the worst of it will be further north of us near the Canadian border.

Someone knocked our mailbox down night before last. And apparently left a $5 bill in our driveway to pay for damages. We don't receive mail in the box anymore but it did have our name and house number on it. So I guess we'll put the mailbox away and plant a new post with new numbers. I got Scottie out for a walk yesterday and we went about 1-1/4 miles. He was happy to get out but was dragging by the time we got home and slept most of the day.

I got in a little sewing time with my back-up Bernie and made some Nov lotto blocks which I'll mail to Val today. I'm not sure what I'll work on today - FPP Elf Mug Rugs or my Christmas Blizzard, Every other project I have ready to sew is already out in the trailer. One of those projects is a chandelier quilt and I just tossed folded fabrics together for that. Maybe I'll bring it back in and actually cut the pieces to save space in the trailer. Anyway, between nagging Bill to do his treatments, and giving Scott his meds, walking him, and doing HIS treatments, my day is full even without sewing! lol!

BECCA - Have you heard how Brodee is this morning? Wishing you a painless dental visit today.

CAROL - I hope you'll share a photo of your quilt when you are finished. What does "machine basted a quilt" mean? I'm not sure I get that.

JANA - how did Ethan come to choose the cello for his instrument? No on there could talk him into, say, the flute or piccolo or even a harmonica? lol! He had to have the biggest instrument ever made? Have you gotten much sewing done since Kari left? And is there any report on how Other Gramma is doing? Will she be able to manage after Kari leaves? As for my machine, I tried several needles, different threads and bobbins, and rethreaded everything many times. Whatever is wrong with it, it is in the thread path before it reaches the needle. Probably just a burr or something easy. I hope.

TINA - We didn't erase your post, honest! You probably needed to hit SUBMIT a second (or third!) time. It happens. I've always straddled our fur kids, too, to give shots, meds, treatments. The cone complicates things though. It can come off, but since we have to slide it over his surgical eye, I try to do that as little as possible to avoid the risk of hurting his eye. It's hard to hold his head steady with the cone. Definitely a two person job! I hope your headache is gone by now. I used to get terrible ones. My doctor told me they were a form of migraines, probably hormonal. As soon as I had my hystie, they went away and I've had very few ever since.

LORI - what did you do for your birthday?

The good news here is that there will be no cooking at our house tonite. We're going out to dinner with Tex & Annette, using a gift certificate they gave us last August. The bad news, it's a seafood restaurant! 🤮 Bill and I went there many years ago and they didn't have a single non-seafood item on the menu. Not one! But there is a little market across the street from the restaurant. I guess I can always run across and buy a loaf of bread and a jar of peanut butter and bring it back to the table.

So what's happening on your plate tonite?

Good morning!
I think I'm gonna survive LOL I feel way better this morning, a little sore but way better. I just pray it's over with now.
Mary, I forgot about the cone, yes that would complicate the meds for sure.
I saw you made 8 lotto blocks in 2½ hours yesterday, wow you're uber fast! High 5!
We're supposed to have wind today here too but no rain to go with it, I prefer both thank you 😊
Maybe your restaurant tonight could make you an alfredo pasta without any seafood added?
I'm going to try and get back to my elf projects, I didn't want to chance messing things up with my head not in the game. Other than that it'll be a take it easy day for me.
Oh I had posted that Holly had covid again, I think that was in my post that didn't show up LOL maybe that was before šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø anyways she's been testing negative and she's back at school today. Jazmyne will most likely be going home today too. I've loved having her but having to wash her clothes every night was a pain. She has extra everything here except good pants to wear to school so I made sure they were washed every night.
I'm not sure about supper yet, depends how my day goes and what I feel like later.
Dad hasn't been coming over because he can't keep food down. He's been to the dr and they gave him meds but so far he hasn't seen much improvement. He lost 5 pound in 4 days.
Becca, any news on Brodee?
Tina

Good Morning,

Last evening, I made a list of the sewing projects in my workroom. There are too many, but all are in different stages, so it is easy to work on something.

Maryz - A stationary quilting machine, such as the HQ Sweet 16 that I have, requires that you baste the quilt. The HQ Sweet 16 has the ability to do a very long basting stitch. I used a basting spray, but felt I wanted a little more basting, so I made an X and T on the quilt. Is that enough information or do you want more? It doesn't take too long to do the basting stitch because the stitches are very long. I will share a picture of finished quilt when I am done. Enjoy your dinner out tonight and hopefully the restaurant will have changed their menu selection to include something for you.

Tina - Glad you are feeling better. Hope you feel like sewing today. Prayers for your dad.

Becca - Prayers for you today! Keeping Brodee in my prayers too.

Jana - Thank you for your vote of confidence. You must be enjoying your sewing time today.

Dinner tonight will be chicken. I think I will marinate it.

Carol
