Scottie has surgery this morning for a growth on his eyelid, so no food for him. He is NOT a happy dog! I explained things but he's not buying it.
Yesterday we ticked off our entire chore list! Yay, us! The Baby Nutcracker is done, Christmas presents are wrapped, deck furniture stored away, Christmas lights are out on the bushes, and the rug is dry. We decided to store it flat, in the house, under the dining room table for the winter. Come spring, we'll simply drag it out the sliding door and onto the covered deck again. It's about 70# and Scottie, 35#, laid down on it and rode along as we dragged it through the house. Gotta love a dog with a sense of humor. Then we relaxed and spent the afternoon in front of the fire, watching the Seahawks game. It was a winner! (Sorry, Carol and Lori).
Today is an unknown. Scottie is having surgery first thing so we don't know how long it will be before we can pick him up again. Bill's thumb infx is getting worse so we are off to Urgent Care as soon as he comes back from his Y exercise class. Not sure what's going to come of that or how long we'll be there. He's been soaking it in hot water with Epson salts many times over the weekend and keeping it bandaged with Neosporin between soaks. But it's worse this morning. Since my BIL nearly died - really! - a few years ago from a similar infx, we aren't taking any chances. If I have any spare time today I will either stitch, sew a few Blizzard blocks, read, or bake. Nobody's made any cookies for a long time . . .
JANA - so sorry to hear about Other Gramma falling and breaking her ankle and foot and needing surgery. But how wonderful that Kari is able - and willing - to make the trip back to CA to help her. And it will be an adventure for Karlie - a train trip, a plane ride, getting to see Other Gramma, who I'm sure she has missed, and she gets out of school for a week! A little kid's "Quatro-fecta"! And it's great news that Mr. Scrooge is talking Dickens Village! I bet you could sneak those new pieces in and he'd never notice.

CAROL - glad you enjoyed that class. And even learned new things. I've always imagined that you could probably teach all kinds of quilting classes yourself!
LORI - You know it's been a good walk if the dogs have to rest afterward! I'm looking forward to seeing WW all finished. Don't forget pictures! I've been thinking of your hubby and hoping things are 'looking' better today for him.
BECCA - I'm so sorry you are having to go through all you go through. Every day seems to be a new challenge for you, along with the old ones! But I know you wouldn't be anywhere else.
I had this all typed out and ready to hit submit, but it suddenly poofed itself! I hope this isn't a harbinger of the day to come. 'Cuz with Scott and Bill both doing medical stuff, I want everything to run smoothly.
JUDI gave me her Gramma's recipe for Hungarian Goulash and it sounds interesting and tasty and I happen to have all the ingredients on hand so that will be tonite's culinary adventure. I haven't made it before and I'm going to put it in the crockpot instead of the oven or on the stove.
What interesting thing are you cooking up for tonite?
