SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, Sept 18

Good morning,
We are having purrfect weather this week. I'm praying it holds for us when we go camping first week of Oct. My chiropractor is also praying as his son is getting married in an outdoor wedding in their yard Oct 8th. We're all crossing our fingers!
Yesterday I finally got all my yard art items put away. I have quite a bit - gnomes, dwarfs, animals, owls, funky stuff. Now I think I'm done with the yard until next month when it's time to rake leaves and start nagging Bill to use his heavy duty weed whacker to start cutting back the big sword ferns. We could wait until March, but that makes it much harder - and colder! - to do. And I end up having to clip them frond by frond because by then the little fiddleheads are poking up. I also worked some on SS things yesterday and Nutcracker log cabins. Making progress. Today will be more log cabins until the Seahawks/FortyNiners game comes on about 1pm-ish. I will try to work on Bill's X-stitch Christmas stocking during the game, but it's hard to keep an eye on the game, so mostly it just sits on my lap.
Vicki's son, Jeremy, found the tree over her driveway. Bill talked to him briefly. Jeremy said he was going to try using an ax. We knew that would take him all day as the trunk was at least 12" thick! (we didn't remind him that we had Vicki's ax. No way did we want that returned to her!) Finally Bill could stand it no longer and walked over and offered to bring the chainsaw. He found Jeremy using a Christmas tree saw he found in Vicki's garage. Jeremy thanked him but refused Bill's offer. He said he didn't want to deal with his mom's rage if she found Bill on her property, even though the tree couldn't be seen from the house she might have walked out. So Bill left him to it. In the afternoon Bill ran an errand, looked down her driveway from the road, and saw the part of the tree over the driveway was gone.
BECCA - My oldest brother, Gene, also played football and baseball in high school. Jim and Albert had no interest in sports. What authors do you like? I'm going to send you a few books - I have some extra copies. We also had rice cooked in chicken broth and grilled chicken a few nights ago. The leftovers became chicken soup the next day. I've never been much of a meat eater either. I prefer eggs, cheese, beans, peanut butter, chicken, etc for my protein.
TINA - haha! Scottie would never EVER sit long enough to blow dry him. If we even open the cupboard where his brush is located he runs! Even if we're not going for the brush! So he goes to the groomer about 3 times a year. Our vet told us not to bathe him more often than once a month anyway. We're good on that! We're going to try green chile burgers tonite. I've already got my burger and chilies out to thaw. I'm not sure if we have bacon or not, though. I'll check the freezer again. As for Vicki's driveway, it already is so overgrown even a pickup can't get down it without getting all scratched up on both sides and top. This concerned us so we called Fire Dept for inspection. They came out next day and at first missed the driveway - they couldn't see it! They wrote a letter to family, who, of course, ignored it. We gave permission for them and EMS to use our driveway if they got a call for Vicki. The county records, which they check for each call, will reflect that permission. We keep our driveway wide open for RV's and we KNOW a fire engine can make it into our yard - and turn around and get back out!
JANA - When you have all your stuff squared away maybe you could send Daniel to come live with us for a while??? He is sure a go-getter! Between your two kids, your yard will be a showplace when it's all done! Hope your machine is just having some 'glitches' and straightens up and flies right before long. So, how do you make your pico?
Tonite will be green chile burgers and a salad to go with. Hoping they will be tasty. I think I'll just mix the diced chilies right into the hamburger. The chilies are not hot, just flavorful.
What's on your menu tonite?
