SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Sept 5th

Good morning,

I never know what each day will bring anymore. With my sis and BIL here it's hard to get into any kind of project, though yesterday I did get the laundry done, sheet's washed, bed remade, and one quilt block done for my motorcycle quilt. I modified a 12" Monkey Wrench block. It turned out pretty well. This is our last day with company here. They leave tomorrow morning around 9am. Then I need to turn to and do some inside uglies, lots of outside work, get the LA uncovered and set back up and finish quilting the quilt that's on it right now, half quilted. Gosh! It's been so long since I've seen it that I don't even remember what quilt it is! And then get working on lotto blocks, the motorcycle quilt, and hopefully, hear from Autumn if she liked my ideas for the Nutcracker quilts. She's got a lot going on right now and those two quilts are not at the top of her think-about list. And, of course, there will soon be Secret Santa sewing to be done.

TINA - oh, do try the ebelskivers if you already have a pan! I bet the kids will love them! I don't have a pan and they aren't available anywhere but a specialty kitchen shop or on-line, I suppose. (I don't even have a waffle iron. lol!) I'm glad Frankie didn't get bitten and was able to dispatch that snake to snake heaven. Do they slither up and over your fence to get into your yard?

JANA - Oh, I bet you DO have to hide all scissors and rotary cutters with Karlie so close to you and "sewing" along side. But with Lila in the house, I imagine you already do that! lol! As for the fabric from the thrift shop, I suspect that someone had a nice stash, died, and her kids just donated her fabric and I was the lucky one who happened along to buy it. Once I found two full sets of appliqued butterfly blocks! I figure the same scenario happened with them.

BECCA - Sounds like you were smart and thinking ahead when you designed your shower! How long have you lived in your house? I'm working on 37 years in mine. I bought it on my own when I was "between husbands". (that sounds bad, doesn't it.)

CAROL - I, too, hope you cool down soon. When it's so hot here I can't get into anything productive. I just sit and mostly read.

I haven't heard anything from Irish for a long time. I hope she's not sick again, but off having more fun.

Since this is our last night with my sister and dbil, I think I'll make homemade pizza. It's my go-to easy meal and I can do most of the prep work ahead of time. I've loved having them here but it will be nice to be on our own again. We've been going through more than twice our usual groceries, paper towels, napkins, etc. I run the dishwasher every day instead of twice a week. I'm so glad it's holding up!! Our new dishwasher is slated for delivery on Friday. We'll see if that really happens or not.

Anyway - we're having pizza. What are you having?

Good morning everyone!
Mary, you've already got a list a mile long prepared.... pace yourself girlfriend!
I'll go on a scavenger hunt for that pan, it's here somewhere, and make them for us and the kids soon, not today, we're doing green chile. 😊 happy dance!
No the snakes thankfully don't usually get in our yard. When they do they come in through the chain link gates. Frankie has 1 to replace in the front yard and all 3 in the back yard. He's making expandable metal gates that fit snug in the gate opening space, he has all the material he just needs to finish up the second set of barn doors for the McSherry's first. He's got a lot of projects right now, he shouldn't get bored for awhile.
I haven't seen Velda or Irish post lately, I hope they're alright too.
Jazmyne stayed the night and Holly and the boys were here till after 10 last night. No school today, happy Labor Day!
Dad wanted steaks last night so we had that, fresh corn on the cob and baked potatoes, it was all yummy and I didn't have to do anything except boil water! Jazmyne made brownies after.
So tonight are the pork chops I believe and a veggie.
Tina

Good afternoon!

Been busy here in the Batt Cave. Working on my quilt. I did one boo boo that involved me ripping out the tack down stitch, which really wasn't too bad. It's now in the machine stitching away. It's a pincushion and I have three to make for the quilt and it is number two. I also sewed up a dress that Lila had ripped and added the new patch to Kate's shirt. She earned this badge taking a class earlier this year and passed a very hard exam to earn it. The tests she did last week was to be hired as a full time actual fire fighter - the ones that go in the fire to actually fight it. Currently she is just medical.

Back again - you didn't even know I was gone - the needle thread broke, rethreaded and then a few stiches laster, it said I was out of of bobbin. Changed tht, and it is now happily stitching away with a satin stich!

Dinner - unknown, as the kids are off on a ride and I have no idea when they will be back, so i will just wing it here. Tomorrow will be the ribs that I set out to thaw yesterday. I am leaning toward adding a potato salad as well. Summer is fast coming to a close, but you couldn't tell by the weather outside! Later this week, we are supposed to hit 105! Daniel has a friend in Vacaville, Ca, and they are predicted on Wednesday to reach 116! It has happened before there. I'll take my dry desert heat here over the humidity in California!

Well, the machine is waiting for me to change colors - it knows that a new color is need, why doesn't it change itself! I know, Silly Jana! LOL!

Hugs,
Jana

Good Evening,

Dinner tonight was Sloppy Joes and French Fries.

I have been working on cutting four small sizes of Flying Geese. It is still just too hot to get a lot done.

I did pack most of my clothes today as well. I checked my meds and needed a refill. It will be ready on Wednesday, but possibly they will text me tomorrow that it is ready. I am feeling like I need to take a whole lot of things just to take care of me.

Goodnight,
Carol
