SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, Sept 3rd

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Sep 03, 2022 5:34 am

Good morning,

We have rain! Not a lot, but at least it's wet! I'll take it! Our temps have dropped into the 70's now and will probably stay there until they slip into the 60's. Would love it if they stayed like this through mid Oct (and our next camping trip!).

We had a nice visit with Lee & Lara yesterday and a scrumptious brunch. After they left, we played Mexican Train through the afternoon until 7pm so instead of our tacos, we ended up with open galley, fixing our own plates from breakfast leftovers. This morning Bill and I have blood draws so no coffee for us. After this past month of entertaining family, BBQ's, big meals, and happy hours, I hate to see what our blood work is going to show. And other than stopping to buy some birdseed on the way home, we have no other plans this weekend. I should get outside and deadhead my shasta daisies and some roses, and also feed the last few rhodies that got missed last month when we ran out of rhodie food. It's hard to get started on any new projects, work on old ones, or even keep up with daily uglies when you have other people with you all day long. But maybe I can at least pull a few coordinating fabrics for my motorcycle quilt.

BECCA - I'm glad that Marty and Estel were able to visit. So nice that they are willing and able to give you some help. You can use a hand and they need to be helpful. Win/win!

LORI - I'm not often on FB but I did catch a cute photo of your boys in the car on the way to the beach? park? Loved the smiles on their faces! Is your Summer Solstice quilt a Bonnie Hunter pattern? I made a Solstice quilt of hers, but changed it to Christmas fabric.

JANA - I'm so glad you were able to find your favorite dress again! I love dresses. I don't wear them much, but I do love them.

TINA - sorry your sewing room is so hot. I think I'd give serious thought to swapping rooms. Your back bedroom on the other side of the hall has to be cooler - or your downstairs. We used to swap rooms occasionally but once we got the LA, everything has to stay the same.

CAROL - another happy day in D-land! Do you take a friend along or just go by yourself? We haven't been there for about 12 years now, but I really liked that "inner tube" ride down the river in CA Adventures. I can't remember what it's called.

Since we never got to our tacos last night, we'll be having them tonite. My sis went to the store and bought most of the fixin's. One of Al's favorite meals. His eyes lit up when I mentioned tacos for supper yesterday. Our suppers with them are dwindling - only 3 more nights before they leave. But we'll see them again in Dec when they join us in TX for a month.

What are you having?

Good morning everyone!
Mary, was it Grizzly Rampage? I love that ride!
Yummy, breakfast for supper, my favorite!
All of the bedrooms are that hot in the Summer sadly, except our master bedroom. I can't switch to downstairs because of the furkids, there's gates that close off that part of the house so when we eat they're down there instead of under the table laying at chairs with rollers, very dangerous for them. I think I'm going to buy a small mini split AC for my sewing room before next summer though. I'd only use it when I'm in there.
I need to go get a few groceries today, maybe people are all done shopping for their weekend by now🤞I just need to go to our locally owned store and they're usually not crazy and they usually have all their registers open so not a long wait in line🤞 we also need to find some green chile!
If we find green chile I'll make rellenos for supper, if not I'm not sure yet.

Tina, I thought you got A/C earlier this year. Mini splits are nice, but they are pricy.

Mary, that was last Sunday when we were going to the park. We go to the park every Sunday. It's like Dland for dogs. Sounds like you had a great day yesterday. I post most of my pictures on Instagram.

We went to the International street fair this morning. We usually get Ebelskivers, but they are no longer there. So sad. We still had our yummy street tacos though. And we substituted Beignets and they were yummy. Probably just have leftovers for dinner.

Dinner tonight was dinner at the mall food court. I had Panda Express and DH had Charley's Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich. Both were yummy and it was air conditioned. We were both overheated so it was nice to spend time in coolness. I needed to buy a couple items as well.

Today we just tried to stay cool. It was at about 95 degrees here today. Much too hot.

Stay cool everyone, fall is right around the corner.

Lori, we did get AC in the house that's duct through the ducting but for some reason it's barely getting to the bedrooms and it has the huge fan on the AC unit plus the fan in there furnace pushes it more. If I don't run the box fan in the doorway to pull the coolness from the main part of the house I can't stand to be in there, it gets to 82°. A small mini split is just under $800.

Carol, Charley's still exist?! That was our favorite place to eat in ther mall in Cruces! They closed down there about 15+ years ago. You're lucky you still have one!
