SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, Aug 23

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Aug 23, 2022 5:38 am

Good morning,

I never made it here yesterday. I've just had no time to myself for logging on. But I knew y'all would be here at the end of our week's visit. I really enjoyed my brother and sisters. They left 1/2 hr ago for the airport. Bill and my DBIL drove them. I have another 1-1/2 hrs til they get home, so here I am, finally checking in. My older sis and DBIL will still be here in their RV but the others are gone.

I've got lots to do today - two sets of sheets to wash for starters and don't get me started on the overflowing hamper of clothes. So that's what I'll be working on. I've done no sewing at all for at least 10 days. But when I get time, the first thing I want to sew is a mug rug from that Santa gnome FPP pattern Chriss shared with us a week or two ago. If it turns out as cute as it looks to be, and if Autumn would like, I will make several for her to give out as little gifts to her staff at her library at Christmas time.

BECCA - I was so sorry to hear of Mark's accident! I am praying he will be OK soon and have a complete recovery. Please let him know we are keeping him in mind and in prayer! This is really the last thing your family needs right now.

TINA - I know you are getting lots of rain. LOTS! Hoping all is well on your property. I have to tell you that we made your Philly Cheese steak sandwiches and everyone loved them and asked to have them again next visit. You got 12 thumbs up!

JANA - how did yesterday go? And how is your Sandee doing??

Supper tonite? Anybody's guess! We have dibs and dabs of leftovers - Some in the fridge and some I stashed in the freezer. Or maybe someone (probably me!) will suggest we go out to eat. It seems I have been cooking and cleaning up from cooking, loading and emptying dishwasher, and making pots and pots of coffee non-stop for 8 days straight. I'm ready for a break from my kitchen.

What's happening at your house?

Good morning from a summery, sunny, SW. Pa...Going to be a gorgeous, perfect day......I think we're all back to what we might call normal...Kathy flew back home late Sat. evening and I've been kind of sitting around trying to find my elusive energy....We did go to Cari's and then onto the beach for a couple of days where I did more sitting but it was so much fun just to watch Lena chase after the waves and sea gulls....But, the highlight was little Lena having everyone stand and sing Happy Birthday to me, with her singing the whole thing...I'm constantly amazes with kids these days.....
Kathy was anxious to get back home to Tim...He's been doing therapy and she was hoping to see some improvement but they did tell her, it will take awhile....But, they'll be ready to take off again in a couple of weeks, going to Hawaii for 3 weeks....That's just a bit too far for me this time, maybe next time.....
I've been trying to keep tabs on all of you but, you guys are all so busy!
I really do want to thank you all for the special thoughts, prayers and cards....Hopefully, the germs are gone and stay gone, lol......
Mary, I can just imagine the fun you have been having with your family visiting....Always exciting and then soon, it will be time to head south....Thank you so much for your cards brimming with all the news, love it!
Jana, Have been thinking of you and keeping your family in my prayers....Just saw that you had a passing and that's always hard....
Becca, Also hoping and praying your husband is feeling better and sorry to hear there was an accident.....
Velda, thank you so much for that special card.......You're very talented......
Carol, I know this is a silly question, but what are you doing with your spare time since, you're not guild president? How quickly you fill that time, right? or What spare time???

I talked to my sister and she said, she'll be stopping over today...She checks in just about every day and heaven forbid if I wouldn't open the door, lol......But, I'm very blessed to have her, I still think she's the one that kept me going....

Not sure what I might have on my menu for today.....With all the fresh veggies, I've been having lots and lots of salads...On our way home we stopped in Chambersburg for peaches and fresh corn...Well, I did make a cobbler, just couldn't wait...Also had an ear of corn which was heaven on earth....

You all have a great rest of the day...........

Happy eating...................

Good morning!

Delivered the kids to the airport this morning, early! We left here at 4 am. Their flight left on time and I am waiting for the text they are on the ground, safe and sound. Gracie and Lila still have no idea that "sprinkles", tomorrow is Disney World. They think it's something their dad learned about when he served his mission in Florida. Won't they be surprised!

Then on our way home we stopped at the good doughnut shop and the grocery store and arrived back here before Daniel left for work, so he got a doughnut. He is my doughnut efficiando! He should have been the police officer, not Aaron! LOL! Although Aaron loves doughnuts too. Karlie took a favorite doughnut for her snack today.

Dinner - corned beef, fresh corn and mashed taters. Absolutely no cabbage allowed in this house, unless it's coleslaw. We have cookies and doughnuts for afters. There is funeral potatoes left from yesterday, so that may replace the mashed taters. Kari loves funeral potatoes! When she found out the Ward was doing the after everything is over lunch for the family, she excitedly asked, is there going to be funeral potatoes? Yes, yes, there was! She was happy!

The service went very well. Aaron delivered the eulogy, Matt the religious talk, and Sarah, Kate, Crenda, Joseph and our good friend, Jason sang. Just like angels! I was a very good girl! Even went over to my SIL, first, and gave her a hug. My not so nice brother and her have six children and those nieces and nephew all gave me hugs. That is except the one who kicked the flowers I sent to my brother's funeral to the corner. I didn't expect anything less from her. There was much drama that brother stirred up with those children about me, but they all saw through that and realized what the lies were all about. I am still the loved, and missed Aunt! In fact, the oldest of those kids is moving back up here from St George and is looking at homes here in Herriman. But that won't happen as her husband works at Hill Air Force base. A way too long commute for him. She wanted to be by my family here, not her siblings and mother that live up by Hill. I have three other nieces by this brother and his first wife, in California that saw through everything a long time ago.

Mary- hope your brother Gene? is OK. Just having the 9ne sister there, you will still be busy! But I am with you on eating out!

Irish - good to see you. Yes, sitting and watching Lena play in the ocean is the best medicine! Hope Tim gains back quickly, especially with PT. It did much for Michael.

Just want to say thank you for all the prayers and cards. They mean much to me and the rest of the tribe. Sandee is doing OK, so far. We keep a watchful eye. She is going back to work on Monday, which will be a great help. She loves her Special Ed kids and they love her. Sandee is a tiny bit of a hoarder. She shops all the time and Sarah is reigning that in, watching finances. Sandee has a basement full of junk, old furniture from her parents house, etc, so Sarah is keeping Sandee focused on what we are calling the great purge. In September a dumpster is being delivered for a ton of it! Sorting through what can be donated to DI as well. One possibility being bantied around is to finish the basement as a apartment for Sandee to live in and Daniel and Kari buy the house. And if not Daniel, Aaron if he can afford it, after Kate is full time with fire. Michael will be the one to keep all sitting on their hands, dragging their feet and watchful over everything. He's very good at that, keeping important decisions from being a spur of the moment possible mistake..

Becca - oh my! Yes, he is in my prayers and family too. I remember when he did ride across the country.

Time to get the uglies caught up and out of my hair, and sink! It was get rid of hidden science projects out of the refrigerator and they are now sitting 8n the sink.

Hugs,
Jana

Good Afternoon,

It is so nice to see Mary, Becca and Irish posting. (We have missed you Mary!)

Maryz - You must be enjoying doing your regular chores and getting to sew a bit today. You also must miss the family that went home. Do you remember when Chriss posted the gnome mug rug? I cannot find it. It sounds very cute. You definitely deserve a dinner out!

Jana - Glad everything went well. Kari has found the silver lining in funerals - the potatoes! lol Sandee will have lots of support close by and that is what she will need. My condolences and prayers.

Irish - You are not the first to ask how I am spending my "spare" time. I am sewing, going to the farmer's market and shopping with friends, soon my DH and I will go on a vacation. (Read the sentence slowly.) I know you have read many times that I had a sew-in on Zoom, however most of the time I did not get to actually sew. I was answering questions. I missed going to the Tuesday farmer's market too, because I had to prepare for two meetings each month on Tuesdays. (The Tuesday market is when my favorite peach farmer is there during the summer and early fall.) I got to spend time with the friends I have made a several times in the past couple of months. Soon DH and I will go on a two-week vacation. We are going to Yosemite, Crater Lake and Mount Rainier. We are not camping. I have been to Yosemite countless times. I have also been to Mount Rainier. My DH has only been to Yosemite once when he was a child. I just hope the air clears. The air quality today is very unhealthy. My parents had a cabin at Bass Lake and I am planning a nice walk to visit that area. We are staying in Oakhurst. Now in the future I also will be cleaning house because I want to leave the house sparkling.

Becca - Hopefully the treatment works for you today. Sorry to hear of the bicycle accident. Hope Mark recovers fully. You get lots done. Do take care of yourself.

I did get peaches, grapes, corn, green beans, tomatoes, baby spinach and oranges at the farmer's market today. I am freezing some of the corn and green beans. The peach farmer had O'Henry peaches this week. Now here is a funny, I never can remember O'Henry and always say they are O'Brien. Where do I get this from??? O'Brien is Irish and O'Henry is an author, right?

Dinner tonight will be Mac and Cheese, fresh corn, green beans and salad.

Sew on!
Carol
