SUPPER CLUB - Monday, July 11th

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Jul 11, 2022 6:46 am

Good morning,

I'm out on the deck, coffee at my side listening to the tinkling fountain, the roosters next door, and the traffic (or could it be a rushing river???) in the distance. Ok, it's traffic, but I can pretend - at least until a big truck uses his jake brake. We're going to about 84* today.

Yesterday I pieced backing for my Star Bright and it's ready to go onto the frame. Then I got label and binding on the Irish Chain and it's ready to be boxed up for Christmas. I pulled it off the machine just as our friends were driving in the driveway in their fifth wheel. Purrfect timing! After a short visit they got themselves settled and went off to do a couple errands. So, with a bit of free time on my hands, I cut a Christmas stocking out of an old quilt I'd made for my massage therapist and he'd used so much it had big holes in it where he massaged through it. He gave it back to me to use for whatever I could think of. So I got an idea from Judi to make Christmas stockings for all his grandkids. (15!! I hope there's enough quilt!). It turned out cute so I'll be working on that project for a while.

The guys are going to the Top Gun movie today and Jackie and I are going to Home Goods and probably Marshalls and maybe even Michaels (they are together in the same shopping center along with the theater where the men will be). After that, we're going to take the dogs to the Bark Park. They have a mini-Aussie named Bogey (Jay & Jackie are golfers, hence Bogey). Tonite Tex & Annette are coming over for campfire and burgers.

CAROL - Glad you straightened me out on that receiving blanket. I was scratching my head.

LORI - You are Wonder Quilter, quilting quilts on your machine. I gave up anything but tablerunners and smaller on my Bernie. My neck and shoulders just can't take it. It was expensive, but our long arm was so worth it for me. Have a wonderful, relaxing time at your retreat! It will be nice to see your friend.

TINA - That's so great that you got rain! I'm sure your parched land sucks it up pretty fast though. A movie with a granddaughter beats doing laundry every day of the week!

JANA - haha! my parade wave! I remember you do your receiving blankets with a crocheted edge. Arghh! That is way beyond my capabilities! But I know they are pretty!

Supper tonite is going to be grilled burgers. Jackie is making coleslaw, I'm making 5-bean salad, and Annette is bring a Costco apple pie. I also have leftover blackberry crisp and vanilla ice cream. It should be a yum-fest!

What sounds yummy to you for tonite?

Good morning from another warm, sunny, day in SW. Pa.....Not sure what happened to those rain drops that had been in the forecast so guess I need to drag out the hose.....

Mary, love to hear about the company you constantly have at your house and the menus and all the quilts! Well, that sure made me tired! But, I really don't know how you do it all......
Does your brother live near Haines, Alaska? In our paper yesterday there was an article about the largest gathering of Bald Eagles that soar into the Chilkat Valley near Haines every November...Haines sits on the deepest fjord in N. American and the churning groundwater prevents the river from freezing providing fish for the eagles through December......That would be an amazing sight to see.......

Well, my extra, old fridge is gone...The organization that picks up old appliances said, they'd be here between 8:30 and 1:00 but guess who was knocking (lightly) on the door at 7:00...I was still in bed but heard the truck...They were the nicest fellows, very polite and super quick.....So, my living room now is boring, no extra fridge..BabyGirl is still walking around wondering what is missing......

AND, the good news, Tim is being sprung today, finally....The really odd thing, Kathy wasn't to go get him, a nurse was helping him with a taxi, to get to the hotel...She did say, they would move to another hotel on Wed., then on Sat. take a water taxi to the airport and fly to Atlanta, then on Sunday, fly to Reno....I was hoping they'd stop here for a couple of days but this is how whoever arranged it...I just hope it's not too much for him....Kathy did say, he's still weak but is getting a lot of the feeling back in his hands and feet...I think, he's also determined to get back to normal!
And along with good news, a little bad...The person who made an offer on Terry's house, has cancelled so it's back on the market....The right people will come along, I'm sure of it......

Not much else happening....Doing some laundry, need to run up the street to play with the cats ( I almost forgot yesterday! How could that happen???) still trying to finish the edging on the flower beds and that might be it for the day.....
Do have a funny....I had made a fancy cake and saw my neighbor on the porch so took her a nice big piece...Well, another neighbor was also there, so told her to split it....Later that night, she texted me, asking if I had any more cake, she had eaten the whole piece I had given her...She said, it was like giving a junkie drugs! So, yesterday, I go trotting over to the other neighbor with an extra big piece and guess who was sitting on her porch but I told her to keep her hands off this piece....Guess it was OK, she asked if I had any more........I really lucked out when I moved into this neighborhood.......

As for my dinner, it might be a burger on the grille...Usually by dinner time, I really don't want to eat....Might be a good thing, I'm down about 7 pounds.......

You all have a great rest of the day................

Happy eating.....................

Good morning!
Mary, you're soooooo right.... watching a movie with a grand is way better than doing laundry any day! She picked some good movies over the 5 days and 6 nights she was here. She would've stayed longer but Holly had to have her home to help with the boys. Holly started back to school this morning and the kids start next week, nobody is happy it's starting back this early!
Your supper does sound yummy Mary!
Love that you're making stockings out of the old quilt, I sure hope there's enough!
Kevin has an old quilt mom made, it's gotten soooooo thin and holes in it, Maria asked if it could be fixed but it can't. So I'll probably go ahead and do like I did Dad's that Mom made, make a new front and back and the old quilt will go inside.
Kevin is feeling way better from his covid, I haven't text him yet to see if he went to work.
Irish, so happy to hear Tim is coming back home! I bet your livingroom looks bigger without your old fridge sitting in it LOL
You and your neighbors are a hoot โค
Well I have to pay bills and do the checkbook, that always wears me out LOL I have to be exact LOL most of the time I am.
Supper tonight will be a little steak on the grill, corn on the cob and salad.
Tina

Good Morning,

Tonight's dinner is going out. I think it will be an Italian restaurant. DH hasn't been to it, but I have been for lunch. Afterwards it will be cake at home.

Think I will spend most of my time in my sewing room today. I have a quilt that needs some work on it and some sorting of scraps. Tomorrow I am meeting friends to go to a quilt shop that is having a sale.

Maryz - Your feast with friends sounds delightful! I like your idea of making Christmas Stockings from an old quilt. Are you just using the quilt for the front with a plain back?

Tina - Yea! Kevin is better! School is really starting early!

Irish - Good for you - no refrigerator. Glad to hear Tim and Kathy are on their way home. What a blessing!

Izzy - Great to hear you are so self-sufficient. Enjoy your dinner.

I think I need to get out for a walk fairly soon.

Good afternoon!

Oh - I am bad! QIAD had a new Kimberbell quilt fabric kit on sale. Cup of Cheer Advent Christmas quilt. I ordered it, the backing fabric too. Found another site for the embellishment kit and the embroidery cd. Michael is saying, you haven't finished the last kit, silly boy! Always need fresh fumes in the Batt Cave! Or just say SQUIRREL! That's me! It's really cute!

Home from Costco, milk gotten and a few things extra. Not much. Dinner will be marinated pork chops and au gratin cheesy potatoes and green beans. I am learning what a picky pixie will eat. I am accustomed to a termite - he'll eat anything!

Laundry is almost done. Haven't made it to the Batt Cave yet. The broadband doesn't reach the corner where Kari needs to work, so Michael is fixing that for her. Hopefully one of the computer geeks in this family will help. It's right up Matt's alley of expertise.

Mary - a very clever way to re- purpose the quilt. Hopefully you can get the oil out. Magic happens when you have a few minutes to spare!

Irish - Yippee! They will be home shortly. What a ordeal to go through, but what a travel story to tell!

Carol - cake, after dinner out - did I miss a birthday or anniversary celebration in there somewhere? Enjoy! Italian is 9ne of my favorites to go out to eat.

Kate and Aaron are home from camping. No lost little girls, they behaved.

The fire is growing, but slowly. The crews have it about 15 percent contained. We can see the plume to the south of the mountains west of me, looks like a gray cloud, not too much of a plume of smoke- a good thing.

We expect Daniel tomorrow or Wednesday to be back here. He has had lots of help from his buddies in making sure everything is in tip top shape at the old house. There's no deposit to get back, he just wants to leave it better than when he moved in. Then he and Kari can settle in here.

Enjoy the fun in the day,
Hugs,
Jana
