Good morning,

We are dry today! Well, most of the day. Even the flowers are hesitant to poke their cheery heads out, this spring is, so far, cold and wet. Our camping weather - Sunday thru next Thursday - will only be 50* and 50-70% rain every day. Sigh. Guess I better take my sewing machine.

Yesterday was long lunch out with Bill's sis and DBIL and it counted as supper. I had a burger and Bill had F--- & chips. Then we stopped at Costco on our way home. Our bill there was only $39! The least we have ever paid! But we needed a couple items for camping and for tonite - friends coming for H.H. I got some frozen taquitoes, and today I'm going to devil some eggs and also have a tray of veggies and horseradish dip. And green olives. I think I finally finished my closet/dresser clean-out. Four tall kitchen trash bags full of clothes I no longer wear or that don't fit. Yay! We also have a big box of household items to go away - vases, muffin tin, and about 15 baseball caps. (Bill had almost 30!)

Today I will start putting my penguins together. Last night I hand-stitched my label for A&A's DWR wedding quilt so I need to put a few finishing touches on that today, as well.

VELDA - when you quilt and do SITD, do you use a special foot for it? I don't have a walking foot but I do have a foot that sort of skims down the 'ditch', parting the fabric like Moses and the Red Sea. My SITD got a whole lot better when I got that foot! Ican't remember the name of it off-hand but I have a Bernina and it's the #10 foot. Glad you had little reaction to the booster, though they say a reaction is a good sign that the vaccine is effective.

BECCA - I'm glad you got to have your time with your friends, even if she wasn't able to converse as in the past. And whew! Found the phone! I just read a news article yesterday about a woman who dropped hers in an outhouse up in the mountains here in WA. She fell in HEAD FIRST trying to get it back! She used the phone to call 911 when she couldn't get out. I was amazed it worked! But she found her phone!

JANA - I bet you were wore out yesterday! You really had a day! Kids are definitely for the young! Though after watching Drew alone I think it was much easier when Alec came along. They played together and the pressure was off us! lol! Did you ever get your basement floor in? I can't remember. What's wrong with my rememberer??

CAROL - Sorry you have another 2 weeks of steroid ointment. I should probably do that, too. I'm truying to get by with the non-steroid cream.Dr.said use the steroid on weekends if I needed it and come back in a year - sooner if necessary. Since it's 60 miles of 4 different freeway and AWFUL traffic, I can guarantee it won't be necessary! How is your other owie doing? I remember having a small toy tractor and log truck when I was little. I played for hours making roads in the dirt. And yes, I made engine noises!

LORI - I lied to you yesterday. We are going to the ocean but I told you the wrong campground. We're going to Grayland Beach St. Pk. near Westport/Aberdeen, which is further north up the coast and only 2 hours away from home instead of 3 hrs. Bill and I make a good team - I remember the dates we're going and he remembers the campground where we're going.

Well, since we're happy-houring with our buddies tonite, our supper will be the deviled eggs, taquitos, veggies, and olives. Happy hour here means about 4-6pm~ish. Everyone is home in jammies by 6:30. :D :D

What's going on your plate tonite?

Good early afternoon from a very sunny, gorgeous, warm, Sw. Pa...Today, our weather is perfect for spring.....Of course, they're saying by Sunday, it will be in the summer and in the low 80s...But, why not, that's the day, I'm leaving, hopefully, when I get back in 2 weeks that weather will be sunny and warm....I'm not sure just where my sister has been but nearly had a fit when I told her our flight leaves at 6:30 Sunday morning...Now she thinks we should play cards all night and just go to the airport....I think she forgot, I'm the one who is driving, hopefully awake.....

Mary, I'm hoping your weather people are like most of ours and your camping weather will be much better...You're cleaning out closets, I'm cleaning out the fridge...Thank goodness today was garbage day....I have yet to really get things packed, only because I dread trying some of my things on...Oh well, good time to donate.....You had asked how far away Terry is and not sure milage but it takes about 8 hours to get there...He did say, when you get to Wythville (sp) make a left instead of the right we used to take when he lived in N. C. So, that might be my next trip.....

Being so nice today, I'm thinking Kevin will be over to do the yard...I worked outside all afternoon on Wed. so he should be slightly impressed....1st thing I do when I get back in head for the nursery/greenhouse..Not sure what I'm after this summer but I'm anxious to have a look.....Kevin is also going to be "not so impressed" with all the pretty yellow flowers growing in the grass.....

Last night I had my sister, her son and his new GF over for dinner....I made suffed shells, huge salad, garlic bread and anything that looked edible from the fridge (told you I was cleaning) and for dessert I made a lemon fluff thingie....My nephew and Gf are talking wedding and I don't think my sister is ready for this or thinks they are ready but they're both old enough (60) to know what they're doing......

I have lots of stuff to do before we go but feeling really lazy today...I do need to go to the bank. Kathy said, to bring small bills for our time in Cabo.......Baby Girl suspects something...She really got clingy as soon as I got the suitcase out of the closet....Doing a good job on making me feel guilty......

You all have a great rest of the day......

Happy eating.................

For my dinner, it's left over shells and anything that hasn't made it to the trash.....

Good afternoon!

Home from my haircut and our supposed inch of rain has not shown up. It's just barely spitting, just enough to need the wipers, every 5 minutes or so.

Dinner - the tamales from Costco were, well, just above a full yuk rating. No taste, bland, and I even had good red hatch sauce for them. Didn't help. I was hoping, but alas not. My favorite is a California brand, Garibaldi, and the beef ones are made with polenta, not masa. Masa is too dry for my liking and I like more filling in mine. No idea yet what to cook here for tonight. Still pondering....

As for the quilt, ideas are still jelling in my brain. But need my cohort and she is still not up to par.

Mary - that sounds like quite the haul for your donation shop. We are gathering up another run for here too.

Irish - off and gone again. Are you landing in Phoenix this time? If so, watch out for all the wildfire smoke. It is thick and is even drifting up to me in Utah. Enjoy the trip! Oh, don't speed, not even one mile per hour over the limit on the Reservation land down there. They are their own police force and absolutely love giving speeding tickets!

Becca - No fair! 86! We are barely in the 40's, but I know spring is somewhere, just not here. We will skip spring and jump right into summer.

Working on my lesson for Sunday. It's coming. I get a break next month, as we have Ward Conference and the Stake leaders will be teaching, on my normal lesson day.

Hugs,
Jana

Hi, Maryz and all the others.
I did get my quilting finished today. I had a hard time with an idea that I thought was soooo clever, then it turned out awful!
My machine has a fancy stitch of Butterflies. I used my "program mode" and set it up to stitch just one.
I tested it on scraps sandwiched to same thickness. But when I started with the " quilt".
It was getting distorted. Grrrr! After picking out motifs three times ( no fun!). I had DH come and help to hold the weight of the quilt so there was no pressure. I got through it, but not all little butterflies look perfect. 😒
But it is was it is! Tomorrow I will sew the binding and the label. I can give it to our friends on Monday night when we get together to go dancing.
Walking foot? Yes, that is what I use, but I am not good at Stitch in the Ditch. It's still the only quilting I can handle with my machine. It would look so much better if I took my quilts to LA, but it's so costly to have LA do the quilting. It costs plenty, just to purchase fabric, batting, etc. Along with thread and other notions When I am giving a quilt, I want to say that I made it.Two quilts I have done with tying. I am loving the technique of tying quilts because I can sit in living room with DH as I work on it. I do tie pretty close( like 3-4" apart). They look kinda pretty with the tuffs of tails across the top.

Well supper tonight is leftovers. Easy supper when this happens.
Enjoying a really warm day. 83 degrees on our thermometer at 4pm. Yippee!

My machine has a "ditch foot" there's a blade in the center and the needle can stitch on either side and the blade pushes the fabric. So the stitches nestle under the fold of the seam. It works really well. Maybe there is a universal ditch foot that will fit most machines. Mine is a Pfaff. The other foot I love is my 1/4 inch and my open toe applique foot. My 1/4 inch foot has a blade on the side that I can butt the fabric edge against. I can also adjust by moving my needle to get the exact seam allowance needed.

Good Afternoon,

Maryz - You are leaving again? Camping in the rain does not sound like much fun in my opinion, but I know you will have a good time.

Vel - SITD is difficult! I think I have it almost mastered, but it isn't perfect. (I use a Sweet 16 so do not have a foot to help me.) I love the #10 foot on my Bernina. It is one of my favorites.

Jana - You are right I love the #57 foot on my Bernina. The guide makes sewing so much easier. Also, the Applique foot (#20).

Becca - You are so warm at 86*! We are to have a warm-up in the next few days, but today is 61* and windy. We did get a little rain last night though, so the wind is the normal cold front moving through.

Irish - Have a great time!! Your off again.

Tonight's dinner will be Turkey Burgers, Salad and Fries (Air Fryer).

I have been trying to do some Spring cleaning. I am working on the baseboards. Unlike Jana I do not have GC to help me, so I do it myself. I did go to Target and bought a couple of new scrub brushes and they are making the task quite easy.

Have a great evening!

Carol

Carol, I have to do things myself too. I need some littles to help me.

Jana, I've found that tamales you buy at a grocery store are never very good. We go to local Mexican restaurants and buy a couple dozen and freeze them. Then we steam them right out of the freezer for 30 minutes. They are delicious.

Mary, good thing you are Bill work well together. Otherwise you'd end up at the wrong camp site on the wrong day 😂

Jonathan flew up to Utah yesterday. He drove part way back yesterday and got here about noon today. He had to get his truck. Yesterday was a sew day with friends. Not much sewing, but a lot of chatting going on.

Dinner with be chicken, mashed potatoes and salad.

Have a lovely evening.
