Yesterday was a shorts and tee-shirt kind of day and as of about 2:15am this morning, it's now a chilly/rainy/windy kind of day. Sigh. It was nice while it lasted.
Yesterday was a full, but relaxed kind of day. I sewed one row of blocks together, took my morning walk, went grocery shopping, had massage appt, then sat on the deck with my little family (that's Bill, Scott, and Foxy) and relaxed, reading. Then fixed my appetizers and off to an enjoyable evening with friends. We were home by 8pm, in bed by 9. But up by 12:30. Yawnnn..
Now this evening all those friends said they want to come to our house. Which is fine - but we are having a long lunch with my niece from Colorado who is in town visiting her brother so the only time we will be available is around happy hour or suppertime. So now my dilemma is - hearty appetizers (deviled eggs, homemade pizza cut into appetizer-sized servings, veggies and dip) or just make a spaghetti supper which would be much easier I think. I'm really leaning towards the spaghetti.
Funny, our house is usually neat enough to handle drop in company without too much embarrassment. Except now. We have the cushions all off the couch and the covers all off the cushions. Everything is strewn around the living room with the vacuum, the green machine, and a fan Bill had blowing on the couch that he cleaned yesterday. Still not done with that job. Quilts that go on the couch are piled on the dining table, and all the electrical cords are puddled all over the floor. OSHA would not be happy. So we have a bit of work to do tomorrow.
CAROL - yes - that's the name of that baby quilt - A Day at Calico Zoo by Adrienne Franklin. It's been several years since I made that quilt and I'd forgotten the full name. Glad you found it. At the time I made it there was a sweet fabric of baby zoo animals out in cotton and flannel which made purrfect borders and backing.
IRISH - Well, sounds like you all are letting the good times roll at your house! And I think that lemon dessert sounds amazing! I love lemon anything. Not to mention, you are getting your house spring cleaned! You must be having rain the last day or so = Mama Eagle looks drenched and even the baby's fuzz is wet!
JANA - things sound pretty delicious at your house, too! No wonder everyone always shows up at suppertime! I've seen your staircase and I think Grandpa's chair on your big landing with a quilt draped over it would be the purrfect accent! Plus, there's a resting place on the trip up or down if anyone might need it. By the way, my massage therapist also had Covid I think in Feb and his is having some of the same problems with fatigue and fog that your Michael is having. He concurs that it is awful to deal with. He has to write down everything or he forgets it all. I see now why Michael said you could get the lamps - he wants a new tractor!! That's how it works here, too.

BECCA - you are having some tough times at the old homestead. I hope this is a temporary setback and CA will feel better in a few days. Nice to get all the errands done for a while. And yes, our day in the tulip fields wasn't quite what we planned but we did enjoy the drive, the time together, and the scenery. We even talked about that as we sat in traffic.
MARY ROSE - The Flying Nun! What a fun, whimsical TV show that was! I hope you don't blow away! And so sorry to hear you're not feeling well. I have a friend here who is having similar problems and the same tests that you are having. And she's also seeing a hematologist. She was talking to her DDIL who has been newly diagnosed with celiac disease. And the DIL said those were the same symptoms she had! So now my friend is going to be worked up for that.
As for supper here, it's probably going to be spaghetti and if so, I'll start with a purchased jar of sauce but doctor it up and let it simmer for a few hours. I have fresh veggies for a salad and I can send 'someone' to the store for some french bread. Should we have ice cream sundaes or cake for dessert? Thinking . . . With Covid, I'm kind of out practice cooking for company.
What y'all thinkin' about for supper?
