SUPPER CLUB - Friday, March 4th
Posted: Fri Mar 04, 2022 5:24 am
Good morning, fellow cookers and eaters!
I was up at 0330 this morning. Ding Dang Dog! The owls are "on the hoot" and for some reason he just can't abide owls hooting on HIS property! Having owls live here is really great most of the year, but not in March!
Yesterday I made Bill his apple pie, then went for my massage, got the mail, and was home by 12:30. I cleaned up my sewing room, organized everything I have left for the comfort blocks and set that all aside for the time being. Then I pulled floral fabrics for my new project and plan to cut enough for the first block or two to make sure I'm not messing up. (Not that such a thing as THAT has ever happened here . .
). If all goes well with my test block, I'll cut more fabric. I also need to make binding and label for my Tenn Waltz that Bill is working on. He made good progress on that yesterday and it's looking great. I still have the wedding garter to make but I don't think there's a rush on that so it's still in my "in box".
BECCA - Do you use a variety of beans in your cowboy beans or just one kind? I can't remember for sure, but I think Bill's mom, Beverly, used two or three kinds. One problem Bill had with Covid was a lot of phlegm that was almost choking him. He tried Mucinex and it worked like a charm. We had never tried it before but now it's stock medication in our cabinet. I hope you are feeling better soon.
LORI - I'm so glad you caught the problem with your dad's computer and that you think all his accounts are OK. I get so furious at people who make their living taking from other people - especially the elderly. (please don't tell your dad I just called him elderly!) We are getting so many scam calls on our phone despite the service we signed up for that is supposed to weed them out. And we never answer with "Hello". We've heard that some of the nogoodnicks have programs that use that word as the OK to infect your electronics or to transfer your info to theirs. If we don't know who is calling, we always answer with "Good morning", etc. (if we answer at all) If there's a pause, we hang up - it's a robocall.
CAROL - sorry abut your Sweet 16 having to go in. I hope you can finish the quilting with your 630. We have a Nolting, bought in 2008. We've never had it serviced either. We'd have to ship it back to Iowa for that. But Bill is very capable (it's really mostly his machine anyway), and once it was out of time and we called the factory they they talked him through what he needed to do. The Bernettes are manufactured in China. I'm not sure where the 300 series are made. Only the upper numbers are made in Switzerland now. Which might be why you weren't happy with your Bernette. Glad I was able to nudge a bit of rain your way. I have plenty more where that came from!! In fact, it's coming down pretty hard right now!
Tonite's supper is going to be chicken fajitas. I was going to make them a few days ago but decided to go with leftovers instead. So tonite is their night!
How about you?
