SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Feb 28

Good rainy morning!

We're 50* and pouring rain. And we'll be pouring rain all day long. A pineapple express, they call it because it's a weather stream coming from the Hawaiian Islands. A good day to stay in and sew something.

Yesterday I put binding on my R/W/B Stars Lotto quilt from last year. It turned out really nice - purrfect for the deck this summer - or for our trip. I like to have a few seasonal things in the trailer. I'm hoping, since today is a lousy day to do anything outside, and our taxes are done, that Bill will be bored and load my Christmas swap quilt next. Only two more after that! Whoo Hoo! Then what will the poor guy do?? He's lucky to have me. Right?

LORI - did that quilt have bits of batting stuffed into the 'windows'? I know my yo-yo quilt is very heavy, and there's no batting in it at all. Is your plumeria project the wall hanging you were working on from your class? that was a beauty for sure! How did the mashed cauliflower turn out? I wonder if Bill would notice if I tried to pass that off as mashed potatoes . . .

MARY ROSE - how was the birthday party? Was it a surprise and if so, was she surprised? You've made a lot of March lotto blocks - you must really want to win those Celtic Twists! I hope you do!

BECCA - OK, so now I guess I'm up to speed. I thought you were able to do steps, but then it sounded like you weren't and I was concerned. I sure hope your treatment works. I've heard so many encouraging things about alternative treatments for joints. Autumn got several bids, too, when they sold their house and ended up $80,000 over asking price. It's a good time to sell, but not so much for buyers!

IRISH - I'm not so sure if I'd be all that happy if my sister brought me half-eaten asparagus. I don't think I"m the energizr bunny (I LOVE that little guy!) but I know how to write so it appears I'm energetic! lol! So where will Terry be taking all the stuff you plan to load into his car? His house? Goodwill?
Tennessee? And what's the story on the TN rumor? I do know what it's like to delve into a cleaning/pitching/orgainzing project, get just so far and finally have to close the door on it and walk away. Arghhh!! Can be overwhelming! Really, wouldn't it work better if we all traded each other's messes?

JANA - congrats on another successful lesson! We all knew you'd be great! Hope all the TV stuff works out. We have a DVR, too, and record our shows. I'm not sure how Bill does it - through the magic of invisible wires, I think :D - the DVR is downstairs in the family room. But in summer we are usually upstairs and out on the deck where we have another TV and we can watch our recorded shows. We have cable TV.

VELDA - Bill did toasted cheese sandwiches in our air fryer/toaster oven, too. They turned out pretty well. He uses it way more than I do.

We had ham last night, and since we're only two people, we'll probably be having ham for many nights to come. I think tonite will be a ham, potatoes, broccoli, cheesy casserole. I need to use up the last of the broccoli. With a salad on the side.

Are you having any supper thoughts yet?

Good morning all!
I thought I posted yesterday but either I didn't or I'm blind.
Mary, we're hoping we get the east side done this week but we're not sure. The wind changed to ENE winds which we MAY have a day here or there of an Easterly wind maybe 5 times in a while year and anytime we have it stops by 10am, not these LOL it's like we moved to the east side and the winds followed. Very weird. We got the backyard all cleaned up yesterday. I'm going to pressure wash the cushions today and call it done for awhile. Frankie cleaned where our grill/ smoker stays and it looks way better. I also had him remove a landscaping timber that had fallen. He's out there everyday walking past it at least twice a day but never picked it up and moved it for months 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️
I still have my list for the week so whatever I can get done I will.
I was so tired last night and hurting that we just had a tv dinner.
Tonight will be grilled chicken, baked ziti and cheese and either salad or a canned veggie.
Tina

Well look at this: I am here at the table IN THE MORNING for a change!!
I decided to get on my laptop today. I needed to order refills on my meds, so it just made sense to do my reply here. It’s so nicer because I can have a document opened along with the thread. I can read and make reply as I am reading the messages. When I do this only from my phone, I can’t remember all the things I really wanted to reply directly to each person.
It is sunny today and temps going up into the 50’s. I know Maryz, you are having a rainy day. We will no doubt get some of that rain long about Thursday here. Oh, my, what a wonderful day for sewing when it’s a rainy day!!
Your R/W/B Stars Lotto quilt sounds lovely. I am hoping you will share a picture. Probably you did a while back???
Lori: Cathedral Window quilts are so pretty, but I have never made a whole quilt with that pattern.
Wow! Mary Rose, you are really pumping out those March Lotto Blocks. Can’t wait to see the pictures.
I found the Celtic Twist a bit of a challenge. Mostly because I get distracted so easy and make mistakes. LOL.
As far as the DVR: We have that option on our DISH plan and last Wednesday, we recorded the Chicago episodes to watch later. When we were Watching Chicago PD, The big news break broke up the program. We were not expecting any interruptions, so we missed the end of the episode, because it went over the time. Our recording ended on the hour. We have on-demand option, but a little uncertain about using it. I think, maybe, next week we may be able to go to “on-demand” and click on the last episode and then watch it again (on-demand) for free. We will be trying it. It was a very good story and we really want to know how it ended. These new features with these on demand stuff and other free things to watch via the internet connection are all new to us.
Supper tonight is at Pizza Man Restaurant on the way to the dance. Monday night special is a small spaghetti with garlic bread and side salad for only $6.00. It’s a nice size serving and I will no doubt have a carry out for lunch tomorrow. The have great pizza and last week I ordered their Veggi Pizza Specialty Pizza and boy was that yummy, too! I don’t like mushrooms, so I had them hold that item.
I plan to do a little more sewing later today. I really should do the dust mop for my floors. But that’s not as much fun as just playing in the sewing room. LOL
Tina: sounds like you are ready for spring! All the outside clean up is a lot of work, but feels so nice to have it ready for enjoying the nice Spring weather. It's headed this way for us in Illinois. This week we even have a day or two into the 60's. The winter wasn't too bad. At least it didn't last so long. Just like last year when we lived at our son's house, it was February when the worst winter days hit us.
Becca: Hope you will feel better each day. Your grilled chicken and chocolate pie sounds so yummy!

So I wish you all a great Monday!!

Mary, the birthday dinner went well. Dinner was not a surprise, just the attendees were a surprise. We all enjoyed the visit very much. Although we are all friends with each other, it seems that we seldomly all get to visit at the same time.

Vel, The Celtic Twist block was a great confidence builder for me. I have always been afraid to try making partial seams for fear of messing up. I don't know why though as I had no problem tackling curved seams and y seams.

If I get my kitchen cleaned up soon, I think I will put on a pot of beans today before starting to sew. Are hams still packaged in those teeny tiny tins? If so, maybe I will pick one up for me. My son cannot eat ham, so it has to be small. I'm not sure what will be on our table if this doesn't pan out.

Good morning!

Waiting for the Dish guy to arrive - he's late - lol! Most of the uglies are done, that's a good thing! The new installation stuff is supposed to take 2 hours. I really doubt it will take that long- swap out old receiver, plug in new. OK - he's now here.

I am packing away my Valentine decorations and have out my St Patrick 's day decorations for the month. I have something for each month / holiday to put up somewhere. I am always adding something more.

Dinner - I am toying with the idea of making soup or chili. Either will be good with how cold we are! But pizza may be the dark horse rounding in the back stretch. Salad and cornbread sound good too.

Not much else here. Matt and Andrew were out for a short visit. Andrew is learning to drive and Matt takes him out to practice. I have to teach Matt how to teach the driving skills. I trained and taught all my kids to drive. Sheriff and UDot refined Aaron and Daniel drives fire engines. Guess I didn't do too bad! LOL

Well, my assistance is now needed,
Hugs,
Jana

Mary Rose: I don't see the tins, but we buy a package of thick ham slices ( like 6 to a package. And sometimes a ham steak. They are in the meat area, near bacon and other packages. They are perfect for us, so we don't have leftovers forever.
