SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Feb 25

Good morning,

We're 27* this morning but should be going to a sunny 46*! It will start warming up as soon as I get back from my walk and not a moment before, as per usual. lol!

Yesterday Bill finished quilting Starry Night and this morning I'll put on the binding, the label, and a hanging sleeve. Though, when it comes down to it, I only have one place in the house to hang a big quilt and this one, at 75" x 78" just may be a bit too big. Guess we'll see. I'd really like to hang it if we can.

Watching the news yesterday was pretty horrifying. And realizing that it will most likely bring even higher prices and more shortages here we went to Costco and stocked up, filling the freezer and our back-up and garage pantries with paper products, canned goods, and pet food. This afternoon I'll be putting everything away.

BECCA - making hankies from that wedding slip was a brilliant idea! I suppose I could do something like that from my first wedding dress (I do have a selection, you know.) but Aut wore that dress for her first wedding so maybe it wouldn't work here. My other dresses were just dresses, and I suppose I should donate them. But they were so pretty! And so special. I'm glad your knee is doing well. When do you have to go again?

LORI - I LOVE your fabric art! You've really got talent. Love how you got the shading with the leaves. And all the petals and their placement is purrfect. Nice job!! Your teacher will be proud of her star student! thank you for showing us what you're doing.

JANA - well, I'm glad Michael lost his mind, and found those items! My mom had a saying on her kitchen wall, "Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most." I hope Aaron's badge shows up soon. That's a big deal. I hope Chewy will be OK.

VELDA - as usual, you've been really busy. Does your DH have a time-filling hobby, too? I was wondering what he does when you're busy sewing. Yesterday in sew-in I posted the title of a book I have for using old doilies, embroidery pieces, hankies, lace, etc. in projects. It's called Hanky Panky Vintage Projects by Diane Brick, or something like that. I can't quite remember the title/author for certain and the book is in my sewing room, and I'm in the living room with a cat and a computer on my lap. Cat can't be disturbed - house rule. But you can check yesterday's sew-in if it's of interest. You know, you don't have to wait for me to start Supper Club. I'm not the queen. (just the princess. 👸)

Tonite we're having stir fried veggies over rice. We haven't had stirfry for a long time and looking at my veggies in the fridge, it's time has come.

What's going on your plate tonite?

Good morning!
Today is painting day!
We're 27° this morning too Mary! But our high is supposed to be 63° supposed to be no wind for at least a week, I'm hoping they're right!
We'll start painting when it reaches 50° which should be about 11 this morning.
I gotta run, I'll try to be back later. Frankie needs my help.

Tina, hope you get all your painting done.

Mary, thanks. I've learned a lot in this class. Today is the last class.
Hope she has a few more tips for us. I've had fun designing and creating this piece.

Today is my class. I started working on the other half of my log cabin blocks last night. I needed something simple to do. They go together so fast.

Dinner will be chili tonight.

Good afternoon from a very dreary, soggy, chilly, SW. Pa....Not sure what our high will be but know, it's not going to be too high....We had a very hard rain over night and across the street and into the field is a retention pond and it's reaching it's banks....I'm thinking my house just went up in price with our new "lake front"......

Mary, I also read in our paper about the rising prices and if I had space, I might be off to Sam's club...But, with just me, I really don't go through much in a month's time, other than cat food (which "Lulabelle" doesn't eat half the time)....My sister is having problems with her Daisy Mae, only eating foods that she can lick the gravy off....So, I told her, we'd make an order from Chewy.com and hope for the best....AND, she did get news on her new house...The lot is cleared and the sales man told her since they aren't too busy, she should be in it by the end of March....Little by little she's getting rid of things in the Taxidermy Shop...She still has 2 of the cutest little bear cubs and if I had room, I'd stick 1 somewhere...I'm sure the cat would be thrilled....These cubs had been hit by a car and found along the road and my DBIL mounted them..He had done a lot of animals that had been found that way along with hunters bringing in the prize mounts....

Becca, there you go, busy as ever...Didn't we tell you to slow down??? So glad you were able to meet up with your friend and bet she was thrilled with the pie...I know I would!

Tina, When I hear about all the painting you're doing, I think of my Jim...He was forever watching the weather channel so he could schedule his jobs. He took on these jobs after he retired from being a plant manager for Papercraft Corp. (wrapping paper/ribbon company in Pgh.)..Finally when he turned 75, I kind of put my foot down, and would tell everyone, he's retired...When we were just starting out, we had a 13 room house and each of the kids had their own room and were allowed to pick their design...We had a red/white/blue room, an Irish room with shamrocks hand painted all over, Kathy's was a big sun and rays coming from it....I hated to give up that house......
But, didn't mean to go on and on....Painting is a big job but one that makes everything look so special....

Today I'm trying to sort through my sewing/craft room...I have decided to get rid of my bin of yarn and since my crocheting friend passed away, I have a teacher friend who said, the girls in one of the classes can use it....From now on, if I crochet, I'll just buy enough yarn for that project...I was going to downsize the cross stitch stuff but hopefully, after my cataract surgery, I'll be able to get back to that...Now, the fabric, oh well, that's another story for another time.....The past couple of days, I've been altering a neighbor's pants (which I absolutely hate) but there are some things you just gotta do, I guess.....And I'm figuring out the design for the latest T-shirt quilt.....

No cards tonight...I'm meeting some friends and we're going to see a HS production of Les Miserables....I am so excited....This has to be my all time favorite, play the CD over and over and have been entertaining the neighbors, lol....By tonight, I probably won't have a voice.....

As for dinner, I was going to make some veggie soup but have no carrots so that's out....Probably end up with a poached egg and toast...But, that might change if I get a call and we're meeting early for dinner before the show......You just never know...............

You all have a great rest of the day.....

Happy eating......................

Good Afternoon,

Maryz - Glad your hands are starting to clear up.

Becca - Using your slip to make the next generation hankies is a beautiful idea!

Lori - Your flowers are beautiful! Good placement. I need to check out the class.

Tina - We have been windy and cold here too, but it is going to get much warmer over the next week.

Yesterday I went to California Adventure then for a little while Disneyland. I needed a break and feel better for having taken it. Today it is the usual Friday laundry, clean bathrooms and chase dust bunnies. I am finally making bread. It has been on my list of things to do for two weeks. Just received a call to sign our taxes so they can be sent electronically. The accountant said they were still waiting for some updates on forms from the government, but guess they got them. We will leave when the bread gets out of the oven in about 15 minutes. I just turned the oven down.

Dinner tonight - I am thinking of sandwiches, but not sure.

Carol

Good almost dinner time!

I have been studying my lesson to teach and my brain is a bit fried at the moment! So I decided that I needed some comfort food for our dinner - so I will make country fried chicken, smothered in white gravy, and green beans. Forgot the mashed potatoes. I wash the potatoes and save the skins and bake them for Michael to have instead of mashed potatoes. The starch in mashed potatoes is not great for a diabetic, but the skins work well around here. Michael puts his gravy on those.

I took a break and worked on my Chocolate bunny skinnie. Took a bite out of his ear and he does look cute! Just getting the right placement for the eggs and grass that goes along with him.

Asked Aaron for a pic to share of Chewie - so far, he hasn't sent one over - that pill! Well, Aaron must have known I was writing about the puppy and that little puppy is too much for Kate to handle right now, so they are returning him to the shelter. It has only been two days, and there was a waiting list for this little puppy, so he will go to a good home quickly. Sad, but for the best. There will be a time later for a puppy in that house.

Well, that's about all right now, need to get going ,

hugs,
Jana
