SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Feb 18

Good morning,
We're our usual 43*, going to our usual 49* this afternoon. I got side tracked yesterday so hope to get out and feed all my rhodies and other woody shrubs this afternoon before rain moves in this weekend.
Bill is 1/3 done quilting LOTR and told me he thinks he'll get it finished this weekend so I decided I better get binding (400" of it!) ready so that was yesterday's distraction. Today I'll make a label. We're having lunch with Drew on Monday so we hope to be able to give it to him then. After this, there are only 5 more quilts - all smaller! - in the queue. I would love to have them all finished in the next few months but there's a fine line between "encouragement" and what a husband perceives as "nagging", so I need to tread these waters carefully or he'll stop in his tracks. Men are funny critters.
We talked with my sis and DBIL yesterday and we all decided to go to Alaska this summer to visit our brother, Gene. He's going to be 87 next month and is very active and sharper than we all are, but still - he's 87. We don't want to put this trip off another year. I'm hoping I can talk my younger sis into flying up while we are there. It might be the last time we can all get together. But she hates flying and traveling, and just plain being away from home, so I doubt she'll do it. But it never hurts to ask. Anyway, we'll be leaving on this adventure in about 4 months and will be gone about 2 months.
TINA - wow! You've had some high winds! It's a wonder there is any dirt left west of you! I hope the carport can be moved back into position. I wonder if it will need to be re-inspected . .
IRISH - I didn't know there was a cat food shortage. PANIC!! The vet believes Foxy will survive a month-long famine but Foxy strongly disagrees with that assessment. And he has full faith that his parents will always have another bag in reserve. It's getting exciting for your sis. What's going to happen to her old house?
BECCA - OK, glad you and your doc are on top of things. You do seem to always be on the go - in the car and at home. Poor Avery. Moving can be hard on little ones. Maybe if they talk a lot about her own room, what color would she like it to be? Could she choose things for it? a little rug, a book shelf? curtains? Make it exciting for her to look forward to?
JANA - happy birthday to your little sweeties! You know, there are lots of days in a year - your family doesn't have to always double up! lol! Good luck looking for bathroom vanities and sink tops. When we were looking last spring, there were many - and they all looked alike to us - and we didn't like any of them. We finally found one that we both liked. It kind of looks like knotty pine. Fortunately, Bill and I have nearly identical taste when it comes to things like this.
VELDA - 'twas I who asked what you were sewing now. Good to see you're keeping your sewing machine from rusting up! lol!
CAROL - I'm intrigued by your quilt guild. Where do you hold your meetings when you're not on Zoom? The craft group I belonged to for a short time met in the community room at our library. But that was, maybe, 25 people. And what office do you think you'd like to hold after President, if any?
Gosh, supper tonight. I just went through the available options with Bill and he says he wants fried hamburger and noodles and onions. Okie dokie! I can make that happen. Not sure yet what kind of noodles - macaroni if I have it.
What's your supper story tonite?

Good morning!
We were 18° this morning, I think we're to go to 59° with 3mph wind so it should be a beautiful day and a good painting day!
Mary, I was wondering if it needs another inspection too, I hope not because it takes up to 12 days for the state to get around to these inspections. I think they were just inspecting the hole size for the concrete, it has to be 2"³! That's a lot of concrete!
How exciting to be giving LOTR to Drew, he's gonna be over the moon!
Well the 9 lives pate shortage has hit us. I did the substitution of Little Friskies, Sammy Girl likes it but Winnie won't eat it (who knew that it tastes different? Apparently Winnie that's who LOL) and I buy it mainly for her because she's a little girl. Sammy on the other hand is not little.... well she's getting pretty plump from eating her share and her mommy's share this last week. Dollar General says online they have limited stock so we're going to go see. I did get 2 of the 4 packs yesterday at Walmart, it was their last. Chewy, Walmart, Amazon, Target, Sam's are all out of stock and have been for a couple weeks.
Supper tonight will be leftover chicken enchilada casserole and Dad will help us eat it up.
Off to search for cat food!
Tina

Good afternoon from a cold, windy, semi snow covered, SW. Pa....We had terrible winds last night, I didn't go out to check but this morning, things were tossed around and did see a few complaints on FB....But, did awake to snow covered everything and in the midst of all this, my friend from Naples texted and said, she'd probably be going to the pool again today...What a friend!
Mary, I can only imagine the reaction Drew will have with that quilt...All that work will be worth it, won't it? Finally, my sister is getting excited...She's seeing the property being cleared, the flags set up for the cement and of course, trip to the bank, lol...The old house or farm is acreage, a barn, garage and the building that my DBIL used for his Taxidermy business (which still has some animals, people haven't picked up) and also a 9 room house....Of course, the family is still giving her grief...The only son who is happy for her is the one who's property where they will place the new home...In fact, he's really the only one who has really done anything for her for years...Her daughter has yet to offer to help go through things but does have her hand out when something is given away...She also, when my sister told her about her plans for the new house, instead of saying, Wow, that's great, said, how about the property I want???? Everyone that we talk to have said, for years, my sister needed to be on 1 floor but her own daughter can't see it...Oh well, you know what they say about Karma.........
Becca, I think you really do need to slow down....And especially if you are tall...I remember years ago, when Chris was maybe only 15, the doctor telling him never to get up fast because of his height...This was after he had jumped out of bed and found himself laying on the floor after passing out.....Just keep thinking, couple more months and it will be warm enough to sit on your porch and enjoy your swing......
Tina, Guess this "cat food shortage" is all over...I had thought maybe it was just on this side of the country....BUT, the other day, I stopped in Petsmart and Petco and of course they didn't have the Friskies or Fancy Feast that I usually get but they had all kinds of "very" expensive brands that BabyGirl would turn up her nose at which she did with the 1 can I brought home......And I also noticed, that costly can was made with a different much heavier type of aluminiun (sp) that the cheaper brands....So what's the problem????I have noticed, our Walmart puts out a few boxes almost every day, so there is some in the storeroom.....Oh well, as along as there are treats, Baby Girl will be happy......
Being chilly today, I'm staying home....Good day to change the bed, do laundry, make bread pudding (neighbor's request) and sew.....I have 2 different requests for T-shirt quilts, both are from Harley Davidson shirts and I've been putting it off long enough....It's just the cutting that's holding me back, I think......I kept saying we were going to have a cutting party but no one showed up.......
As far as dinner, this is card playing night and I'm hoping they either come here or we cancel...It's snowing again and maybe no one will want to come out....But, if we play, we always order, either pizza of hoagies and salads...We have a delivery fellow who comes wearing shorts and short sleeves, no matter the temps.....
Better get moving and see how much I accomplish today......
You all have a great rest of the day....
Happy eating...................
Eagle Update: The Hays nest in Pittsburgh now has a 3rd egg...A few years ago, there were 3 eggs and all fledged so here we go again....One of the pictures showed what looked like a very tired Momma, sitting on the nest and probably thinking, "What have I done?"........
If you'd like to see our nest, google, Hays Eagle nest in Pittsburgh, Pa......Guarantee, this season will be a hoot...........

I'm back, we went to 3 stores, I found 9 cans of the pate, also 9 cans of the cuts.... the cuts aren't their favorite but maybe if I smash it all up it'll be ok

if not I'll donate it to a rescue here. I'll be donating the Friskies they don't like too I guess.
Irish, here we can get Little Friskies no problem but not the 9 Lives. I guess I have finicky ASPCA rescues

I think a can lasts 4 days, hopefully by then Chewy or Walmart will get more.

Frankie just went out to paint, he's doing the 2nd coat up top so I guess I'm not painting yet. I hope tomorrow is a nice no wind day and a tad warmer so I can start painting the lower parts.

if we could get 3 really nice days and no wind we could be finished with the west side!

Back -
Jumping with joy is a huge understatement! Daniel just called and they are coming, moving here to Utah! They will be living with us for awhile. That's very doable. They will be, as the tentative plan is, moving to Utah around July 4th or so. Party time at my house!

Good Afternoon,
I made a pot of Autumn Soup this afternoon for dinner tonight. We have some Garlic Cheese Biscuits in the freezer we will have with the soup.
Maryz - We have been meeting in person at a church hall as well as on Zoom since September 2021. The hybrid meetings are working fairly well. Some people like the convenience of staying home and watching on Zoom. They can work on a project while watching in their pajamas if they choose. Others no longer wish to drive at night and find Zoom a wonderful way to keep up with the Guild. I have let the Parliamentarian I would like to be a Co-Chair for Intra-Guild. The First Vice-President and I are both feeling like we could continue the Zoom meetings and add to the Guild in this position. The President is the one who sends emails so I am not sure it will work. If you would like to join a Zoom meeting you can be a guest and tell tell our Membership that you are my guest. There will be no fee for a one-time visit. Membership will forward the Zoom link, you just let her know. Look at southbayquiltersguild.org. (The invitation stands for any one here that wants to see the Guild.)
Hope Bill finished the LOTR today. It is a very beautiful quilt and I am sure your nephew will be over the moon happy with it.
Jana - Congratulations!! How exciting for your family! I know you will make room in your home for Daniel and family. Wonderful news!
Tina - All this talk about a cat food shortage. I had no idea! Our spoiled cat eats dry Blue Buffalo. I will start checking the shelves!
Irish - Thank you for keeping us up to date on the eagle status. Hope card playing is at your house tonight!
Becca - Avery will be fine once she meets other children. It is always difficult to move to a new house.

Mary, a trip to Alaska sounds like a good idea. How long has it been since your last trip?
I bet you are getting excited to get that quilt finished. I bet it will be wonderful.
Carol, we do the same at our meeting. Zoom and in person.
We just had a Zoom meeting for our quilt show coming up. It will be another "Quilt's in the Garden" show.
Things are coming together fast. I'll be handling the money, so I'll have a busy day. I'm also collect quilts and hanging them before we open. I have recruited Jonathan to help.
I had my third class with Jane Sassman today. Very different stuff. I like her technique. She has her own way of doing applique. I also had my knitting class this week, and 3 days of day retreat. Looking forward to the next few days with no plans.
Dinner was a glass of wine and tortilla chips. I had leftover enchilada pie about 2:30, so I wasn't really hungry.
Sleep well my friends.
