SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, Feb 13th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Feb 13, 2022 5:34 am

Good morning,

Happy Super Bowl Day if you "celebrate". If not, then Happy Sunday. And to our JANA and her SARAH, happy birthday(s)! I know you are going to have a great day with all the fam! Your tablegate party sounds like so much fun!

VELDA - good to do your research on your airfryer. We did, too, but I still don't like the one we bought - a Ninja Foodie thing. I do like that it folds upright when not in use, leaving more counter space. But it's so low that only a sheet pan will fit in it. I'm thinking of giving this one to one of the grandsons and buying a regular toaster which is all we really use this appliance for now. I miss our old Cuisinart that lasted for 15 yrs. I used that for small casseroles, baked potatoes, etc.

JANA - Well? Did we get the lemon pie? My favorite!! Just in case you ever need to know. :D So how big is that closet of Sarah's that she can use it as a dedicated baking center? Just to store all her baking items or to actually do the mixing, etc., too? Does she have a pantry like you have? I think the problem with houses is the same as with RV's - mostly men design them, and most men don't know squat about how to use either one!

IRISH - you're home! Yay! We missed you! My sis got home (to CO) from FL yesterday, too! I'm so sorry about your friend, Gin. But it sounds like her work here was finished and she was ready to move on. I think the cup & saucer were the ideal mementoes of her. I'm sure you had many a happy (and sad) chats with her over a hot beverage. So you're going to a wedding today or just a big wedding party? Covid disrupted a lot of peoples' plans for a lot of things. Where are you going in a month or is that still TBA? And hooray for an egg! I wonder if last year's eggs are off building their own nests?

BECCA - nice to be having some warm weather. I don't like HOT weather but temps in the 40's have been chilling my bones. What sort of wedding are M & E planning? Will you be able to attend? I hope the meds do the trick for Brodee.

LORI - I love the idea of a blue/white log cabin. Pretty narrow strips. It's going to be beautiful. What color will the center square be? Do you sit when you use the Accuquilt? Standing to cut really gets to my low back after a while - but I do it anyway. And it can take me as long as 2 or 3 days to cut a log cabin quilt.

TINA - I don't know if you can see "particulars" about yourself when you post, but I can - perhaps as a moderator? Anyway, QIAD says you joined Jan 27, 2010. I remember that you coming on board about 18 months after I joined July 7, 2008. Glad Jaz is OK today. I probably wouldn't use many of the extra bells and whistles on that stove either, though I might make use of that proofing option when I make pizza dough. Now, if it's a cold day, I turn my oven on very low and open the door and set my covered bowl on the open oven door and rotate it every so often.

Yesterday, after cleaning the downstairs, and going out to buy shoes for Bill, he went to help a friend with his electronics and I worked in the yard for 3 or 4 hours. Got quite a bit accomplished and then did some cleaning in the garage. I came inside at 3pm, took a hot shower, prepped supper, and relaxed for an hour with my book in front of the fire. What a great day!

Today - I plan to hopefully finish quilting my wall hanging (it's taking longer to quilt it than it did to make it). If there's time and it's warm enough (only 34* right now!) I'd like to clean another flowerbed before Super Bowl time. Our friends are coming over to watch the game, 3pm here. I think! Better check that, I suppose. The friends are bringing a take and bake pizza and we're doing snacks (veggies & hummus, chips & salsa, and maybe taquitos), and dessert (ice cream).

I wonder how many households are having pizza today? Are you?

Good morning!

My little termite, Ethan will be here in a short while. He'll go to church with us today. That little termite is growing like a weed! He started a growth spurt and has added a inch in height since December and his feet have outgrown his shoes. He is now a size 10 men's shoe, otherwise known as Clydesdale feet! He will be tall!

Dinner - brisket, ribs, chicken, baked beans, macaroni salad, tossed salad, assorted chips and dips, cheesecake, cake, ice cream and yes, lemon meringue pie. Game starts around 4:30, my time and I am rooting for the Bengals!

So feeding Ethan breakfast, then church, then game .

Sew something!
Hugs,
Jana

Good morning!
Oops Mary you're right LOL I joined in 2010. 2008 was when I got hurt on the job.
My oven says not to leave the door open because it'll mess up my knobs, but mine is a gas oven, electric don't have that problem. I really need to download my owner's manual to see about using some of these bells and whistles I guess LOL. The reason he bought me this one was because it was in stock and could be taken that day, it was only a couple days before Thanksgiving and I couldn't wait for a stove to be gotten in. I do love it though ❤
Hmmmmmm that helping a friend for Bill sure came at an opportune time Mary 🤔 got him out of yardwork 🤣😂
Jana, happy happy birthday to you and Sarah! !
Wow your tablegating spread sounds awesome! And turns out to be an awesome birthday supper too 🎉
We'll be watching the game and I'll be rooting for the Rams because they're Kevin's team. I'm not sure who Frankie wil be rooting for.
Frankie mowed the front yard yesterday after he replaced bearings in our riding lawnmower. The dead grass that gets tracked in on our shoes and on the dogs is unreal, so our yard has to be mowed/ vacuumed LOL every 4 to 5 weeks through the winter.
Yesterday was a major busy day for me. I sewed my 1 block, did 5 loads of laundry which 2 were bedclothes so the bed was stripped and remade. I vacuumed, dusted, mopped and cleaned the kitchen. My hamburger helper easy supper turned out to even be a little taxing for me. I finished at about 7 last night and then took a long soak in the tub for my back and legs, ibuprofen was also a part of my evening and pain cream, ugh I think I slightly overdid it..... but I'm good to go this morning! I am going to take it easy though, sew my block, read, possibly sew another block, read, make some finger foods for the game and supper LOL

Good afternoon from a cold, semi sunny, SW. Pa...Coming home last night it was starting to snow and by the time we got home, car and sidewalks were covered but most of it's gone this morning....We've really had enough but Mother Nature isn't listening...

Mary, you really had a productive day yesterday and at it again today.....Any time, you feel you have nothing to do, just come on over...I still have some of my Christmas boxes sitting in the corner waiting to be taken to the shed...But, when it suits Kevin, I'm not home or the snow if piled too high to get to the shed...I might decide to throw a quilt or 2 over the boxes and just leave them there, they're really not in the way and Baby Girl thinks the boxes are hers to jump on or hide behind..... The next trip might be back to Ft. Myers but at the end of April, we're to go to Cabo and Sedona for a couple of weeks..In between, I think Kathy is coming this way....(She can't stay away from Lena too long)....
The wedding is their 2nd, 1st cancelled by covid and then a family only at Seven Springs....This one was a big todo and I wasn't really impressed....In our family, most fellows wear riding or cowboy boots and sure enough, there was Kevin, father of the groom, in tux and riding boots...The brides parents are the ones who are the big "impressers" but it's sure not on our side of the family....We go more for fun, lol.... And, they didn't tell me ahead of time that I'm have to "noticed" so I didn't go out and get a new outfit but sure enough, I get there and they're shoving a wrist corsage on my arm and made me stand for pictures and all that hoopla...My sister was having a great time, laughing.....But, hopefully, this was it, no 3rd, redo......

Jana, Happy, happy birthday to you and Sarah, hoping it's a special day, full of fun and lots of love.....And like Mary and a few others, Lemon pie is also one of my favorites...You just might be surprised one of these times you say you're baking, we might all show up on your doorstep.....

Becca, Many, many prayers being sent for little Brodee...Hoping the meds do the trick....Those little ones have survived so many challenges, tough little scamps, aren't they? I love, love your plans for the day....Cari gave me a gift certificate to a new type of book club and my 1st "shipment" came so I just might be joining you....

Lori, a blue/white log cabin will be gorgeous....I might have to think about those colors, I don't think I've made just blue and white......Now you have me really thinking.........

Tina, your "bells and whistles" stove brought back memories....Quite a few years ago, we got one that you could pre set to start the oven...WELL, we made a casserole, put it in the oven and then all the kids got their chairs and sat in front of the stove to see if it would work....Thank goodness it finally came on....In those days, it didn't take much to entertain us.....Now, any new appliance I look at, I want the least amount of buttons or gadgets.....
Hope your aches are all soaked away...Boy, nothing like a good hot bath and a few ibuprofen to kick the ache.......Hopefully, today, you can take it easy......

Cari stopped by this morning on her way back home...She was at her Dad's for the weekend, picking up some groceries and doing some cleaning...He's only been out of the hospital for 2 weeks and really not able to do pretty much anything...He's lucky he has 2 daughter's who are willing to drive quite a few hours to pitch in...When the kids were growing up, he had no time, especially for Cari but now it's them who are taking care of him....I just hope he realizes how good these kids turned out (because of Kathy)....

Not sure what I'm going to get into this afternoon....I doubt if I'll watch the football game but like Becca, just might delve into that stack of books.....

I had the urge for piogies so for lunch had a couple and then decided to make hulushky (messed up that spelling) but it's fried cabbage and noodles and lots of butter.....My tummy will be revolting but what the heck......I might even mix up a batch of sticky buns......(If I had eggs, I'd made bread pudding, neighbor would be happy)....

You all have a great rest of the day.....

Happy eating........................

Jana and Sarah - Happy Birthday! Hope you had a great afternoon.

Becca - I think the show was a huge success, however we will not know for a while (until all the accounting is done). The foot traffic looked very much "normal", the vendors were happy and everyone thought the quilts were prettier than ever! Prayers for Brodee!

Lori - I want to make a blue and white quilt too! I am thinking of a Double Wedding Ring. I also need to go fabric shopping before I can begin.

Irish - I saw perogies in the frozen food section at the supermarket. I have never eaten them and wonder if these would be any good. Who makes them for you?

Tina - Your new range sounds so intriguing!! I would love to have a proof oven!

Maryz - We are in agreement with you on our Ninja. Consumer Reports said the model we purchased was easy to clean. We disagree! There are a lot of crevices and food is stuck for a long time.

Tonight, we had Turkey Burgers and oven fries. It was a bit late for us to eat, but we enjoyed it.
