SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, Feb 8

Good morning,
We're a bit chilly at 42* this morning, but dry. And going to about 55* for highs all week long, so I might drag myself outside for a bit of yard work. There's some winter clean up to do out there. And all my bulb flowers are up and some are in bud, so I guess I better get with it! Time to fertilize my rhodies, lilacs, forsythia, and azaleas. And soon it will be time to prune roses. I only have a few and I'm really bad at roses, but every year I vow to do better.
Yesterday I finally got Starry Night Nativity finished and posted a photo. It's across the hall now in the quilting depart. I also pieced LOTR's backing and it's joined Starry Night and 4 other projects in the quilting queue. Bill has several Bill projects on his list so those will all come before my quilting. Right now he is adding a new outlet in the kitchen. For some reason, the builder of this house thought it might be a good idea to put the only outlet to the left of the stove - where I use all my appliances - way back in the corner. I'm 4'11". I always have to get a stool to reach that outlet. After 37 years of just living with it, I finally convinced Bill to add another outlet, so right now he's in the process of doing that and I sure don't want to interrupt anything there!
This morning I think I'll start studying a pattern I have for a wall-hanging by Karen Eckmeier from her book Happy Villages. It's a different process that I've never tried before but saw something similar on a TV show about 20 years ago and I've always wanted to give it a try. I always love trying something new.
TINA - We saw on the news that school districts in NM were bringing in Nat'l Guard folks to help in classrooms. Has this been happening in Holly's or Maria's school districts? 20 mph is too much wind for painting, for sure! But a good day for playing with DGSs!
LORI - your class sounds interesting. and homework! I was always that kid in school who liked homework. I bet I would like your class. Waiting until spring to paint sounds like a good plan. We were going to paint our living room (15' cathedral ceilings in one end of the room) and when we started washing the walls with TSP, they looked like they were already freshly painted! So we just finished washing them and called it good. We are really getting our money out of our 2 coasts of Valspar!
BECCA - Sorry the strokes have left CA (and you!) with these problems. Is he able to be home alone while you do errands or do you have to take him with you? Your first time in Walmart in 7 years?? Even we go more often than that - and we don't have a Walmart! lol! But to be honest, I really don't like the business practices of that store so we only go there when traveling and then if there's no place else to shop. We have slept in their parking lots a few times - but after the last time in NEVER AGAIN. That one was drug-dealing central!
JANA - I hope those glasses work for Sarah. I believe Chickie tried them and they didn't really help her. But then her vertigo was caused by her stroke so I'm sure it's different. My nephew also has them - not sure if they help him or not. And sometimes he patches one eye which does help some. But again, he has a very different problem. I LOVED my paper dolls when I was little! I'm glad they are still around. I think I had Annette Funicello and a couple of generic girls.
Well, supper is probably going to be soup here. Which, as soup goes, means it will probably be tomorrow's supper, too. Not sure yet what kind - potato? chicken noodle? vegetable? broccoli cheese? sausage and white bean? guess it's time to hit my recipe box!
What wonderful things are you cooking up for tonite's feast?
