SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, Feb 8

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Feb 08, 2022 6:39 am

Good morning,

We're a bit chilly at 42* this morning, but dry. And going to about 55* for highs all week long, so I might drag myself outside for a bit of yard work. There's some winter clean up to do out there. And all my bulb flowers are up and some are in bud, so I guess I better get with it! Time to fertilize my rhodies, lilacs, forsythia, and azaleas. And soon it will be time to prune roses. I only have a few and I'm really bad at roses, but every year I vow to do better.

Yesterday I finally got Starry Night Nativity finished and posted a photo. It's across the hall now in the quilting depart. I also pieced LOTR's backing and it's joined Starry Night and 4 other projects in the quilting queue. Bill has several Bill projects on his list so those will all come before my quilting. Right now he is adding a new outlet in the kitchen. For some reason, the builder of this house thought it might be a good idea to put the only outlet to the left of the stove - where I use all my appliances - way back in the corner. I'm 4'11". I always have to get a stool to reach that outlet. After 37 years of just living with it, I finally convinced Bill to add another outlet, so right now he's in the process of doing that and I sure don't want to interrupt anything there!

This morning I think I'll start studying a pattern I have for a wall-hanging by Karen Eckmeier from her book Happy Villages. It's a different process that I've never tried before but saw something similar on a TV show about 20 years ago and I've always wanted to give it a try. I always love trying something new.

TINA - We saw on the news that school districts in NM were bringing in Nat'l Guard folks to help in classrooms. Has this been happening in Holly's or Maria's school districts? 20 mph is too much wind for painting, for sure! But a good day for playing with DGSs!

LORI - your class sounds interesting. and homework! I was always that kid in school who liked homework. I bet I would like your class. Waiting until spring to paint sounds like a good plan. We were going to paint our living room (15' cathedral ceilings in one end of the room) and when we started washing the walls with TSP, they looked like they were already freshly painted! So we just finished washing them and called it good. We are really getting our money out of our 2 coasts of Valspar!

BECCA - Sorry the strokes have left CA (and you!) with these problems. Is he able to be home alone while you do errands or do you have to take him with you? Your first time in Walmart in 7 years?? Even we go more often than that - and we don't have a Walmart! lol! But to be honest, I really don't like the business practices of that store so we only go there when traveling and then if there's no place else to shop. We have slept in their parking lots a few times - but after the last time in NEVER AGAIN. That one was drug-dealing central!

JANA - I hope those glasses work for Sarah. I believe Chickie tried them and they didn't really help her. But then her vertigo was caused by her stroke so I'm sure it's different. My nephew also has them - not sure if they help him or not. And sometimes he patches one eye which does help some. But again, he has a very different problem. I LOVED my paper dolls when I was little! I'm glad they are still around. I think I had Annette Funicello and a couple of generic girls.

Well, supper is probably going to be soup here. Which, as soup goes, means it will probably be tomorrow's supper, too. Not sure yet what kind - potato? chicken noodle? vegetable? broccoli cheese? sausage and white bean? guess it's time to hit my recipe box!

What wonderful things are you cooking up for tonite's feast?

Hi Mary and all the rest. I need to make this short. Have some errands to do this afternoon. Tomorrow DH and I will be helping out at the local Food Pantry. We help them with a truck load of goods. Some things come from government agency. Supplies like TP and bars of soap as example. We would put 2 rolls of TP and 2 bars of in a ziplock bag. So then they are ready to give out. One time we were counting out cereal cups and bagging them out like six to a bag. Canned goods are carried into store rooms that are all organized by catagory. It quite impressive how well they have their project organized. We help once a month.
Tonight for supper, we have soup left to eat.
HUGS, šŸ’• Vel

Mary, that house quilt looks very interesting. We had a speaker at guild once that made something similar. Looks like a fun challenge.

Vel, that's a nice way to volunteer.

I'm taking lunch to my DIL today, then I have guild tonight. I got most of the elephants done. I also started a knit wash cloth. I figured out the pattern. Yay me. I'm getting the hang of the knitting thing.

Dinner will be out with friends tonight. We are meeting up before guild.

Hello all!
I'm running late. Just finished cleaning the kitchen after lunch.
The boys are here again today, we've really enjoyed these 2 days with them. I'm fixing to take them outside but thought I'd stop in and say hi to you all first while they finish watching a show on tv.
It's such a pretty day that Frankie started painting! I should be painting by tomorrow, woohoo! And I made 12 Easter egg blocks already so I won't be stressed.
Mary, glad you're finally getting another electric outlet. Those scenery quilts are soooooo pretty, looking forward to seeing yours!
I'm not sure if the NG has substituted here or Cruces yet but I know they have in Albuquerque.
Velda, sounds like your food pantry really knows their stuff!
Lori, that's great that you figured out the knitting, high 5!
Becca, that's good that CA sleeps while you're running errands, keeps him out of trouble šŸ˜‰
Jana, received your donation for the comfort quilts project ā¤ thank you so very much! I hope the special glasses work.
We can't do too much painting in Spring, the winds blow 50+mph and the dirt is bad. We have brown outs a lot during Spring. It's because we're in such a bad drought.
Dad and Jazmyne will be here for supper tonight so I decided on burgers on the grill and a nice big salad. I won't have to cook anything since Frankie does the grill these days and the salad is already made. Win win for me!

Poof went my long post!

On hold with the O2 company, so this is a quick hello and thanks Tina for letting me know it got to you. I was worried. Next one can be Venmo by Sarah.

Dinner - whatever sounds good with curbside pickup!

Hugs,
Jana

I finished binding, hanging sleeve and labels yesterday, so today I baste pinned two quilts. (I don't want to lose my touch! lol)

Tonight's dinner was grilled chicken, potatoes, broccoli and a salad.

Tina - Glad you got to see the children! Give them a hug for me. I miss children.

Becca - You are going to be well organized soon! You keep after it.

Mary - Your Starry Nights is wonderful. Just the right quilt for the holidays.

Jana - You certainly have had a time returning the O2. Weird they don't pick it up.

Lori - Meant to tell you that Annie's has some videos on knitting. They could be helpful. I need to finish putting a sweater together. It sure would have been handy to be able to wear it in December!

Vel - I really like that your church is sending things to college students.

I really do mean to come on earlier. I got caught up in filling out a new patient form today. It was eight pages long!

Carol
