SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, Jan 8th

Good morning!
How are all our Northeastern friends? Rumor is you've got snow. I hope Irish is OK. Maybe I will text her later this morning and check on her.
Yesterday we made an early run to the grocery store. It was nearly empty of customers but we knew later in the day it would be a madhouse. We saw on Gig Harbor Town Talk (at home) someone posted a photo of our Fred Meyer grocery store (part of Kroger empire) and the check out lines extended halfway down all the aisles! I guess the mountain snow caused everyone to hurry and stock up! All routes to western WA have been closed for a few days due to snow and/or flooding so maybe there were a lot of hungry stranded folks.
After cleaning freezer/fridge and cabinets here I started sewing and made the stable to my Starry Night. This allowed me to sew Mary, Joseph, stable, and donkey all together yesterday. About 1/4 of my quilt. I have about 8 more sewing days left before I have to start packing up my stuff but even so, I don't have enough background fabric here to do more than half the quilt. I ordered more but it will be sent home. Hopefully it will be waiting for me when I get there.
I also ordered a new book. I was looking for fox patterns on Pinterest for Chickie, saw a cool pattern of a Halloween town on a hillside. Because I'm a computer clutz, I accidentally sent that to Chickie when I was trying to save it for myself. Then neither of us could find it after that. Enter Tina, who found it in short order in a book called Happy Villages by Karen Eckmeier. We ordered it and it, too, will be waiting for me at home! It has several different village patterns in it.
BTW, Chickie is about the same, having lots of very dizzy spells. Her vertigo, remnants of her strokes, at times has her on the ground, not knowing which way is up. She is able to sew some and do houseworky things but much more slowly with lots of rest periods. She is having another new Gr Grandbaby come June so is planning another baby quilt, her 6th in about 2 years.
JANA - sorry about the cooking woes. I think we all probably go through spells like that. I know I sure do! and it usually happens when we are having a spate of company! Did you ever get your CR all together?
CAROL - glad your eye appt went so well. Let's hope the carotid scan does, too. I had a cardiac artery scan last Sept that also showed good results. The reason - my cholesterol was ~230 for 3 yrs in a row.
TINA - lots of activity going on at your house these days! A good place to steer clear of! I hope the dust settles soon. Oh wait! Bite my tongue. There's no dust there now!!
BECCA - it always feels so good to have cleaned out drawers, and cupboards, doesn't it. I will be late to the January Urge to Purge Party by the time we get home.
VELDA - raffling a quilt for a charitable cause makes some think is gambling? lol! I think not! We Catholics love our Bingo and some people frown on that, too.
Our supper tonite will be hamburgers on the grill tonite. Salad and maybe a few chips, too. I have two burger buns left that we need to use before they go to that great breadbox in the sky.
How's your supper story going to read?
