SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Jan 5th

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Jan 05, 2022 5:27 am

Good morning!

Today will be low 80's. Sure wouldn't want to be here in the summer!

Yesterday I had lots of sewing time so I got my Mary block finished and also Joseph. Both are 7x23". Lori is right - this will be a big quilt. I also cut out the donkey because I have good donkey fabric with me. I hope I can get him finished today, too. This quilt isn't quite so scary as it appeared at first glance. Directions came in ruler package and IF I pay attention and follow the directions, all goes smoothly, if slowly. But you know, sometimes that's a big "IF".

We have another couple of friends rolling in today. We all met, camping, 10 years ago. It's always a good time getting back together for a few weeks. We'll probably be hitting the road again, heading for home, around Jan 16-19. No firm date set yet. We should arrive home about Feb 1-ish and a few things in our yard will starting coming into bud soon after that!! Spring!! It can't be far away now!

TINA, I've heard so many folks who have had front load washers and they die after only 5 years, or less. Frankie can always take the barrel out of it and use it for an outdoor fire pit! lol! Kittens in the Christmas tree - what a show! That happened to my younger sister once, about 45 years ago. she had family over and when family left, her kittens went with the guests. She called them door prizes!

JANA - nice of you to help your friend with her quilt. Bill saves some things, too. Mostly electrical and electronic, but for some reason, he kept big speakers that my LDH#2 had from when he was 18/19 and in a band (he even cut a record!). Not sure why Bill held on to those speakers for 28 years, but I finally convinced him to let them go. They took up so much room in garage! lol! Glad you figured out your tote problem.

BECCA - this special ruler cost about $25 and directions did come with it. It's about 6"x10" and it has a curved cutting slot in it. And lots of lines and dots to line up your cuts to the specific piece you are cutting. I have to really pay attention and as long as I do, all goes well.

VELDA - we did enjoy the dancing, and there will be more dancing events, but we are no longer late night folks. Nor do we do crowds, so we probably won't be doing a lot more dancing. This last event was 2-4pm and only about 60 folks in a room for 300. We felt safe.

CAROL - I agree - you can't fix stupid!! In tardy honor of spaghetti day, we'll be having that tonite.

So, happy supper, y'all!

Good morning!
Mary, it must be hotter in the summertime there than here, yikes!
We replaced our old front loader with a new front loader a couple years ago. I wouldn't have anything else after having a front loader, Frankie says the same. They use so much less water and clean the clothes so much better we found. And they don't wear the clothes out. We love ours!
I think a power surge got our last one, it was almost 9 years old, we now have a surge protector on this one.
Today is take Jazmyne to the dentist and the solar company is coming later this morning to start the install of the AC/ heater units. Frankie is staying home to be here for them.
I hope I have good luck with that ruler and pattern when I get to start mine.
We ended up having chicken fried steaks, potatoes and peas last night because Jazmyne doesn't like banned food so tonight just might be that banned food and a salad.

Tina, oh happy days. New heater and A/C unit. Your summers will be much nicer.

Becca, I had ham and cheese for lunch. Always a good combo.

Mary, you'll have that top done in no time. That's a money maker if they charge you to watch a video on how to use the ruler you just bought from them. I wonder how many people actually do?

Yesterday was girls day out. 4 of us went to a winery for lunch, then quilt shop, then downtown to shop in cute boutique shops. Always fun hanging out with friends.

Dinner will be leftovers tonight. There's a couple enchiladas and some chili.

Have a lovely day.

Maryz - I didn't think you would have trouble with that ruler and pattern. Sorry to hear about your mail snafu! Hope there is nothing too important in the mail. I know you are happy having a date to start home. You will be traveling this way, maybe stop by Road to California on the 19th-22nd. It is in Ontario, CA. I will be there all week, so will my quilt! lol

Jana - You have every right to be proud of Aaron. He certainly finished his degree in the Knick of time. Again, congratulations to him. Glad you found the containers. I have a couple of small ones and several larger ones. We keep them on shelving at the back of the garage (where we do not park our cars, because it is so full.)

Becca - Ham and cheese sandwiches are so good! I had leftover scalloped potatoes and ham for lunch. Just love this ham!!

Lori - Glad you had a good time with your friends. Sounds like so much fun!

I have Zoom in a few minutes. Tonight's dinner is Chili. We are trying to empty refrigerator. I started soaking the beans for soup today.
