SUPPER CLUB - New Year's Day, 2022

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Jan 01, 2022 6:32 am

Yikes - another new year! They seem to be rolling by faster and faster. But the past two years couldn't be gotten rid of quickly enough! Here's to a new, happy, and HEALTHY New Year for us all! Fireworks are legal here and we listened to SEVEN HOURS of booms until 1am. Poor Scottie and Foxy. They were totally freaked. We tried snuggling them up but they would break free and pace and whine. Now they are both napping, making up for lost sleep. Sigh. Not me!

We never made it to the LQS (the Cotton Cupboard) yesterday. Well, we got there, but they didn't. I guess they took NYE off. Rats. Will start researching quilt shops in south Texas, I guess. But we did get the laundry and grocery shopping done. Autumn & Antonio are coming out this afternoon. We'll celebrate her birthday a week early and say our good-byes. But at least, sad as I am to leave her, at least we're leaving her happy now. Before Antonio, we could see how unhappy she was and it broke my heart to leave her in Texas. We'll be on the road as soon as it's light tomorrow and we get hitched up.

BECCA - you work awfully hard! I hope today is a day of rest for you. Enjoy your embroidery. Between you and Lois, I'm starting to feel a new project beginning to bubble up. It's probably just as well the LQS was closed yesterday! lol!

TINA - Bill doesn't think I need help spending money. I do pretty well all by myself, though there have been a few times you've saved my quilty bacon, I'll admit! lol! Is all the cleaning and rearranging done now? Can we sew, guilt free now?

JANA - Love that picture! I have a similar one of our yard from our security cameras. When I get too hot here, I look at it to cool me off! I bet Matt's loving being able to play with his toys and help the neighbors to boot! When we move our heavy furniture we put those little carpeted gliders under the feet. You can easily push everything around with those. Do you know yet when you will do the recarpeting? Or are you going to do flooring? Is Ethan negative? Our test results came back in about 24-36 hours. They must have a backlog for the holidays. Is anyone else showing symptoms?

LORI - what book were you reading? I'm a mystery fan, myself, though in later years, I prefer my mysteries toned down so I tend toward cozies most of the time. Oh, I hope I don't sew my camel looking backward! lol!!

CAROL - oh, let's hold the curved sewing kudos until I actually manage to do a little of it! lol! Not my best thing. Do you walk every morning? 7500 of my steps would be about 3 miles. Our morning walk here in the RV park is about 3500, I think. I counted them when we were here last year. So nice of you to take your sis some food. Sounds like she's going to need more soon. Can you have some easy frozen meals delivered to her?

Autumn and Antonio (dang! just typed Aaron! Had to correct!) will be here about 1pm. I'm making pesto linguini and adding black beans, fresh tomato, and sliced olives to it. Also salad and garlic bread. I have a red velvet cake for birthday dessert. That used to be one of her favorites.

What's happening on your New Year's plate today?

Good Happy New Year morning!
Wishing you all a way better and healthy New Year!
We stayed up cleaning and rearranging until midnight! Then took care of the furry kids and tucked them all in and then took our showers and went to bed about 12:45. We got all the furniture moved but I have to wash all my China cabinet pretties and put them back this morning. I dusted then vacuumed then mopped everything as we moved it. I have to say that I couldn't believe how bad it was under the china cabinet! Geesh, makes me feel like I'm a dirty person, I know it's not a furniture item that can be moved easily but still.... yucky! I used to rearrange my furniture every couple months when I was younger and healthier but that china cabinet has been in its same spot for about 6 or 7 years, yucky.
Sorry about the fireworks and stress for Scotty and Foxy. Living out where we do if neighbors have them we hardly ever know. The wind last night sounded like a hurricane and our furry kids never even budged, they were snoozing on the couch or in their kitty beds oblivious to anything.
Sorry the quilt shop was closed, maybe that means there's a better project waiting for you at another one!
Jana, your snow is beautiful! We had a beautiful overcast rainy day yesterday, it was greatly appreciated!
I did get my chinese food last night and there's plenty for tonight so that'll be supper.

Happy New Year!

This morning I need to start the undecorating. I think it will take me a couple of days to do it and to clean. I am quilting the background areas of the quilt and am trying to do three motifs a day. It is small stippling. It is tedious. I want to get it completely finished by January 16th. I have another one ready to quilt after Road to California that will also be in the Guild Quilt Show.

Maryz - My sister needs to hire someone to come in and clean the house. She has a daughter who helps with the shopping. I made a few suggestions that she add to her list. It is a 60-mile round trip for me to take her prepared meals. She will be laid up for about three months. We had only a few fireworks. I think it was too cold for the revelers! (Thank goodness!!)

Tina - Moving furniture around all evening! Don't feel too badly about the dust under the china cabinet, it happens to all of us.

Jana - Your snow really is beautiful. Hope you are enjoying it and getting to stay inside. Glad Ethan was negative as well as parents.

Becca - You are making me want to embroider again! Have a restful day and enjoy visiting family via facebook.

Breakfast will be quiche, croissant and fruit salad. Dinner will be Ham, yam and vegetable.

Happy New Year Everyone!

Carol

Happy new year everyone. Hope each one has a very blessed year in 2022. I miss having time to keep up with everyone, but I'm hoping that will be able to change this year.

Well...I landed in the frying pan this Christmas, . Then I jumped from the frying pan into the fire. Everyone take a seat and hold on. Ready?!???...I purchased a new B 790 plus Crystal Edition Embroidery machine. Now it's time to name her. Any suggestions???
As far as supper for today, time will tell. Today is my day to fix something for the family of one of our employees. He is in the hospital with covid, and his wife has some other health issues which makes it difficult to stand long enough to prepare meals. When I figure out what I will be taking for their meal, mine will then be decided.
Happy new year again,
Mary/Rosebud

Happy New Year!

Mary, I finished "The Lost Quilter" by Jennifer Chiaverini and "The Planet Patchwork" by Ann Tyler. The I liked the Lost Quilter. The other one was a waste of my time. I kept thinking it was going to get better.
It never did. I like cozy mysteries as well.

Carol, hopefully your sister will get someone to help her. Meals on wheels might be an option.

No much going on today. I took Jack for a walk, and Bill is out with Wrigley now. It's a beautiful morning.
Sunny and the mountains are covered in white. I didn't sew yesterday, but I did a little embroidery. I get seem to get going on sewing. Maybe today.

Not sure what's for dinner, but maybe Enchiladas and Spanish rice.

Have a lovely day.

Good afternoon!

Watching the Fiesta Bowl - rooting for Notre Dame! Go Irish! Utah comes on next in the Rose Bowl. So in between games and halftimes, I m accomplishing things. The front bathroom is clean, floor mopped and awaiting me to put a coat of floor finish on it. The upper cabinets in the kitchen are done, except one, which I will do next. I am a terrible housekeeper and we have company coming tomorrow. It's Crenda's parents for a short family gathering. Just them, and Matt, Crenda and tribe. The parents will only be here a few minutes and then Crenda is bringing out dinner to have with us. So my house needs to be clean. Almost there. Plus it's a head start on Spring cleaning. Can't do much with all the snow outside.

Ethan is feeling better. I called him and sang Happy birthday, which I rewrote the words to We wish you a Merry Christmas, to be We wish you a happy birthday. I could hear him giggle at the new version. Turned out quite well.

Dinner - there's some leftover pizza or I could be good and cook. Nah, starting in early on my Santa's naughty list!

Not much else here. Aaron starts on the 10th and will be in the office training for awhile. Good thing as they haven't got his vehicle yet. The job comes with a take home unit. It's on order, but y'all know about the shortages.

Better scoot, need to finish,
Hugs,
Jana

Hi everyone. Happy New Year! I am cooking supper now. I am browning and simmering pork cube steaks. Then a vegetable and a couple of frozen hash brown patties with a little gravy spoon across the top of meat and potato. Dessert will be mini ice cream cones with choc dip and peanuts. They are small but just a bit of sweet at the end of our meal.
I didn't sew today. Put away Christmas stuff and watched a Christmas movie we had previously recorded back between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
The house always looks kinda bare with Christmas tree put away. 😏
I be back earlier tomorrow. 🤗
Wishing you all a better Year ahead in 2022.
HUGS, 💕 Vel
