SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Dec 16th

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Dec 16, 2021 5:11 am

Good morning,

We are 71* at 0500 and going to 80* later today. With about 150% humidity. Sticky, sticky sticky! Yesterday was some sewing - putting a couple 12-block quilt tops together for QIAD comfort project, and then we went thrift shopping- at BILL'S suggestion! That is a first! I did find a few treasures but not a ton, which is good since we are living in a 30' trailer. We might stop at one more today which is north of us. all the others were south. We're making a run to Costco and meeting another couple for lunch - all north. And if I do any sewing today, it will be to work on those comfort tops. I have enough trimmed blocks with me to make a total of 14 tops. I will drop them off with Tina when we go back through Deming again on our way home.

TINA - I would be watching my machine, too, if I had one. My SIL only said she COULD make dinner while her machine worked (all in same room - a great room), so if there were an odd sound she would hear it. But she didn't say she actually DID that. It's good to dream of a new machine. By the time you can get one, you'll know what you want.

JANA - I envy you your snow. I LOVE snow! That's one reason I'm not crazy about coming south for long periods. I don't want to miss a single flake because we don't get much snow - most years none at all. If it weren't for Autumn, you can bet I would be at home! Or at least not here for 2 months! Did you get your skinnies done and hung?

BECCA - nice to have all your Christmas taken care of - 10 days early! So, why are your dried apple pies called "snit"? Any updates on Betty?

LORI - I'm not an LOTR fan either, but when one of my beloved grandsons asks for something quilty, I jump at the chance to make it for him/them. Had I known then what I know now I might not have jumped so quickly. lol! We did watch the movies and I listened to the audio book and I have to say it really helped me understand what I was sewing. But I'm still no fan. Now, Harry Potter - I love! And there are PP patterns for that on the same website. But so far no one is asking and I'm not offering! I miss the Pacific air. We have the Olympic Mtns between us and the ocean, but they don't block it all!

MARY ROSE - long time no see! So happy to have you at the table! That was a dicey drive to work! Glad you made it all in one piece. And back again! A flannel nightie sounds just right for a night like you were having. Did you get the wedding quilt all finished yet?

We're going out to an early lunch today so I'm not sure how hungry we'll be come suppertime. But the plan is to grill some burgers. Depending on how hungry we are we may add baked beans and/or salad to our menu.

What's your plan?

Mary, wow...that's a lot of tops. I bet it's nice to do something simple after the last project.

I'm off to my friendship group today. We'll be painting and having lunch. We always do a craft before the Christmas lunch. I'm not big on all crafts, but I'll make this one for fun.

Last night we went over to the tamale festival early and got our tamales. Then we had dinner at a small Mexican restaurant. Churros for dessert. Yum. It was really good.

Enchilada pie will be dinner tonight.

Have a lovely day.

Good morning!
I ended up taking a not planned break, we lost electricity and I only had 1½" left to go to finish another stocking!
We already ran to Walmart first thing and picked Dad's order up for him and delivered it.
Mary, you're sooooo sweet and much appreciated for sewing those tops together ❤❤ thank you so much!
Shopping at Cosco sounds fun, I actually like shopping at Sam's, I could spend lots of time browsing in there LOL
And a thrift shop and lunch out with friends, it's great to be you!
I loooove Harry Potter too! If all it takes is to ask for a Harry Potter quilt? Ok, I'm asking LOL ..... well you said 🥰
I took my eyes off my machine for like 5 seconds this morning 🤦‍♀️ no strange noise or anything, looked up and the top thread got a knot in it so almost a whole letter was messed up....I fixed it though.... just gotta have 5 eyes to watch everything. 🤷‍♀️
Lori, your friendship group sounds great! Play show and tell with us after, we want to see what you make please 😊
We love tamales and I need to get some made before Christmas! Eeek!
Well power came on, breaks over.
Supper will be pork chops and not sure what else.... maybe potatoes, I don't know what they're called how I make them LOL Mom always made them and we love them. Think green beans too.

Good afternoon!

Snowed this morning and now a break and more to come at the afternoon commute home. Not much, just enough to mess up the roads. I am home, safely hiding and sewing. Sarah is out running last minute errands while Ethan is in school. Her list is long and she will head home after she picks up Ethan in a short while. He has no school tomorrow as his Christmas break starts. We will make cookies together. He's my cookie elf.

Dinner - something simple like tacos or burritos.

Later this afternoon I will be sewing - embroidering for Sarah. A fair trade - she shopped for me, I sew for her. Other than that, it's quiet here. I do need to get some wrapping done too. Daniel has his stuff shipped directly to me, so I sort and wrap for him. I did get even this year and sent his to his house unwrapped. LOL! That boy would stick a bow on the shopping bag and call it wrapped.

Michael tried most of the night with no extra O2. Made it most of the night, but did add it back for awhile. We will keep trying. That's the way this Covid recovery acts, sometimes it works, other times you keep trying.

Oh, Sarah just showed up, got to run,

Hugs,
Jana

I'm back!
I met my goal before noon today of getting 5 more stockings totally finished. We had PB&J sandwich for lunch and then we decided to go to our local grocery store for my baking stuff that had on sale plus some meat and a few other things we only buy there. Meat is crazy expensive! I know the ranchers aren't getting high prices for on the hoof, makes me mad. After coming home and getting all that put away then I had about an hour window so I got all the names on the last 4 cuffs. I was going to try to sew them on tonight but decided I better not, I don't want a repeat of not sleeping and pain like last night. I was up till 1 and trying not to cry....I over did it sewing yesterday.... that's why I'm stopping tonight.
I've already cleaned the kitchen all up and I'm sitting in my recliner with my feet up.

Maryz - The LOTR is truly amazing. It is beautiful. I have not read nor watched LOTR, but agree I really enjoyed reading Harry Potter.

Tina - Glad you know when to stop and rest!

Lori - Hope you share what you made today. You have a wonderful friendship group!

Becca - A ham sandwich sounds so good!!

Jana - Yes, a fair trade with Sarah. She does a lot for you, but you return the favor.

Tonight's dinner was on a sheet pan in the oven - Chicken with Teriyaki Sauce, potatoes, onions, green peppers also had a salad and broccoli. Very yummy!
