Good morning!

We're nearly 70* this morning with almost 90% humidity. Nice for our early morning walks but I could be happier with - say - 85% humidity . . . At least my skin isn't all dry and itchy like it gets in AZ!

In case you didn't hear me cheering for myself yesterday, I finished my LOTR quilt. A picture is over in photos. Whew! Now on to lesser projects. Something I don't have to think about while I sew. But first, I believe we're going on a round of thrift shopping today. There are 3 shops close by and Bill wants to look for a couple of specific things. I told him I'd go along 'for the ride' because that's the kind of good wife I am. ;)

VELDA - Lara had cataract surgery just in one eye about 5 years ago and the thing she noticed was colors are so much more brilliant. Have you noticed that? Bill is legally blind in one eye and has cataracts in both. He'll need surgery in the next year or so I think. They will do his bad eye first. His doctor is very cautious. But I notice he is squinting a lot more in the past 6 months.

TINA - Way to go on those stockings! Smart to just do a practice cuff first to make sure you've got it right. Do you have to sit at your embroidery machine while it stitches? My SIL said she could set hers to a project and then go make supper while it stitched.

BECCA - Is there any update on your SIL? I would be extremely cautious, too, with CA's medical history. I used to make fried pies - 5" circles of pastry folded over a Tbsp of filling, crimped, and deep fried was my "recipe". How do you make yours? I haven't deep fried anything in years now.

CAROL - I'm sure it was nice to be able to have your Christmas gathering again! Do you have many members who are not vaccinated? And were they OK with staying home? I've found some folks get very angry, which I don't understand. I don't think they are thinking beyond their own selves.

JANA - you have to be more careful about what jumps into your cart when shopping! I'm ever vigilant, myself. Russian Tea Cakes. Yum! My son's very favorite cookie. I used to make them for him every year and sometimes just because.

TINA - again. Only 9 to go! You can do it! Don't you hate 'technical difficulties'? Usually, when I have them I discover it's operator error. But you know how technically challenged I am! lol!

Tonite I'm finally going to get my ham & bean soup made. It won't be a big pot - at least I don't think it will be. You know how soup can grow. lol! And a few rolls. And salad.

What's on your eating schedule for tonite?

Good morning!
Mary, your day sounds fun and no sewing brain relaxing, enjoy! I had to go twice on rides yesterday, I had to go take pics of a backhoe that Frankie sold for his cousin to our septic tank guy. They needed pics of the ID number on it for the bank I guess. The first time we went over the gate was locked so we came back home.... that all took 30 minutes. Then Frankie got a hold of the owner of the property and just when I was ready to start sewing again we left....45 minutes later we got back home LOL so a chunk of my sewing time was out the window. Oh well. I'll get finished if I have to pull an all nighter!
I do sit at my embroidery machine, needles can break and if you don't shut it off immediately then you can have a totally messed up machine that needs to go to the shop for repairs. Plus the thread does weird stuff sometimes and I have to stop it and fix it before I have a total mess or a ruined project. The manual says not to leave it unattended so I don't. It's kind of mesmerizing to watch it LOL
I guess my main problem yesterday ended up being a bobbin my machine didn't like in the one. The other one has to go to the shop, I can't fix it. Thankfully I have backups. I'm looking at a new purchase LOL but it'll have to wait till I get my LA paid off. But I can look and plan and dream.... I'm good at dreaming 😉
Hmmmmmm supper......I think I'll make red Chile enchiladas, we haven't had those in a long long time. There's salad too.

Good snowy morning!

Mary - you definitely deserve a no sew, no brain thinking hard day after finishing LOTR. It is beyond gorgeous, stunning, awesome and some other fantastic non-existent word

Tina- I too babysit my machine while it does embroidery work. Mine does tell me about thread problems and stops on its own, waiting for me to fix it. I tell the machine, since you know the problem, fix it yourself! But to no avail.

We have snow and snow and more snow! Aaron is on duty, it's his normal day off and they called him in, in the middle of the night. School is on a remote learning day, kids are all home. Since the pandemic, schools have changed from snow days, no school, to remote days. Sarah came over and shoveled us , as well a a neighbor helped too.

Dinner - more banned, sorry Mary, it's a favorite here.

After a few uglies, heading down to sew.

Stay safe,
Hugs,
Jana

Mary, I not a "Lord of the Rings" fan, but your quilt is quite fabulous. Lots of time and love went into that one. I with you on the humidity. I would rather have it than be dry.

Tina, I didn't know you had to watch the machine. I do all my embroidery by hand.

Jana, we got quite a bit of rain here yesterday, and our local mountains got some good snow too. Hope it continues.

Today is sunny and cool. Only reaching 56 which is quite cold for us. Jonathan said the other day that i seems colder here. I said that's because we get the moisture from the Pacific. Cold in Utah isn't nearly as cold because it's so dry.

I had my guild meeting last night. We do member showcase in December. They pick 2 members to tell their story and quilts. It's my favorite program. Today we will be heading over the the Tamale festival about 3:30 pm. We'll get 3 dozen tamales and some yummy churros to eat while we wait. Everything is freshly made and it's quite yummy.

Tamales for dinner.

Have a lovely evening.

Good afternoon/evening. This morning we had a snow/ice storm. It started right when it was time to leave for work. Trying to drive in it was almost like driving in a blizzard. My 4 1/2-mile drive took me 30 minutes. On the way home from work, I stopped at Denney's and got a chicken fried steak dinner for tonight's supper. There is enough left to take for lunch tomorrow or have it for supper tomorrow night as well. Now I'm ready to get my flannel nightgown on and get warm.
