SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, Dec 14th

Good morning,

It's a mild morning here - almost 60*. Our morning walk will be pretty comfortable today. We've been having to really bundle up the last several days. Our high temp is to be 76. Just about purrfect.

Yesterday I got all my letters done and we took the quilt top and the letters to the park clubhouse to lay them out on the floor there to see how they would fit. This morning I'll get started assembling that final border but we are having lunch with friends today so I may not get it all finished.

LORI - the letters spell out the "catchphrase", if you will, of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy: Not All Who Wander Are Lost. They will circle around 3 borders because they won't fit on just one or even two.

VELDA - nice to have someone who knows all the back roads! We have a State Route 16, too! The major No/So route through several towns in our area. It bisects what used to be my Grandpa's farm back in 1902 and my property borders Grandpa's old farm. We can hear traffic from our deck in summer, but it kind of sounds like a river in the distance, so that's what we pretend! How was the dance last night? There was a blues band playing in our clubhouse here but with the next new virus showing up here in Austin now, we didn't want to take a chance on being exposed. Both Aut and Antonio work with medically compromised people, children among them, and They are so cautious and we just feel we can't take any risk for their sake. So we stayed in and watched a Christmas movie - Christmas with the Kranks.

TINA - what's the daily stocking count? You don't have to worry about your ugh-lies. They won't go anywhere. lol!

JANA - I would think your electrical engineer could rig up an alarm for when his O2 drops below a set point. That's standard in hospitals. Set him thinking on that. It will keep him busy for a while. :D

Our lunch today will probably fill us up for supper, but if not, we have salad makings. We ended up with alfredo last night with some of our ham so I saved the last of it for ham and bean soup tomorrow.

Happy Suppering!

Good morning, again. I am up early today. Dancing was great fun.
I sure don't blame you for staying away from a bunch of people. Sometimes I even wonder about us going so many different places Hope I can stay healthy so my next eye surgery goes on schedule. My sight is improving. Doctor said the improvement would come around. It's hard to appreciate the change because the other eye is still so bad. On the drive back home last night, watching the headlights, I would close one eye, then the other to compare that night vision. Yes, quite a difference! I will notice it more after both eyes get healed.
I will need to plan a meal for tonight. Better check my freezer or when we go for groceries, just pick up something fresh to cook tonight. Hmmm! What am I hungry for???
I need to get another batch of cookies made. The recipe I tried last week for Low Sugar Oatmeal 'n Raisen cookie was not a winner.
It was good when fresh, but after a day, they were so dry. DH pops them into microwave to warm them. So he almost has them gone .. Good!!
Well off to get more coffee and time to put drops in my eye.

Good morning!
I only slept till 5 but I was in bed by 10 and was sound asleep by 10:30. Those stockings wore me out! 15! They are all ready for cuffs so my embroidery machine will be busy today. I'll do 1 and make sure my little demo is right before I go gung-ho on getting them all made... or I may make each and sew it on before going to the next one. 🤔
Mary, glad your cautious about going out and about. I stay away from everyone too except for family that's been vaccinated and the occasional have to run inside the grocery store.
The LOTR quilt is amazing and will be treasured forever! To me you zoomed right through it!
Vel, glad your eyesight is improving so much! I need to check groceries here too and start making lists, ugh not my favorite thing to do even without covid.
Dad went and got an antibody infusion last week because he got his chemo injection about 10 days before. He also needs to go get his vitamin K shot, his dr here likes him to have that about 2 weeks after his chemo shot to boost his immune system. He's doing thre best he can, putters around, some days over does it and needs a stern talking to..... he tells me.... "blah blah blah", the naughty kid LOL
I think I'll make baked chicken and rice, it's easy and doesn't require me much. I'll put a veggie with it too.

Tonight is our Guild Holiday Dinner. We were reluctant to have dinner, but decided to do it. We ask for unvaccinated to stay home and everyone keeps a mask on when not eating.

Becca - I read your sister-in-law is ill. Hope she is better. Nice to have a DGS wanting to know how you made the fried pies. Another tradition passed along.

Maryz - You really are amazing to get the top of the LOTR quilt put together. The catch phrase is a good one. I agree with a simple meander, especially if your machine stops at each star tip! That quilt has a lot of seams!!

Velda - Glad to hear your vision is improving. Stay safe when you are out and about.

All this talk about Christmas Cookies and Candy have me looking at recipes. After losing weight this past year I really do not want to put it back on this holiday time. Meringues are cookies with few calories and you could probably use sugar substitute. I made chocolate and peppermint last year, both were very good. Both are Betty Crocker.

I did get to the grocery store this morning. The weather reports called for a lull in the rain and I got to the store and back before it started coming down again. I want to do some quilting this morning. I think I am ripping out as much as sewing on this quilt!!

Good morning!

Home from Costco and have everything put away. We went early, one for the senior hours and the other to be ahead of the huge storm coming this afternoon. We have lots of heavy winds right now and the temps will drop quickly.

Dinner - some banned jumped right in the basket and will taste yummy with a pilaf on the side.

Not much else going on here. Sarah is hunting up the Peanuts embroidery for Sandee's bag. We have found several to use. We are adapting the bag with a additional pocket on the back. Sandee needs to carry her tablet there. I have a tiny bit of laundry I am doing. Should wrap a few gifts and sew.

Ethan and I will make cookies on Friday. He has no school that day, vacation starts then for him. We will make Russian teacakes, a favorite here. Next week, we will make chewy cookies for Santa.

Need to scoot,
Hugs,
Jana

Thought I'd stop in and let you all know I have 6 of the 15 totally done. I forgot Jazmyne stays on Tuesday through Wednesday at about 4pm, they do zoom classes on Wednesday's. So I'll do my uglies all up tomorrow and start back on those 9 tomorrow evening. They go pretty fast after I figured out my tension and which font and size LOL I ran into technical difficulties to say the least LOL
