SUPPER CLUB - Sat, Dec 11th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Dec 11, 2021 4:19 am

Good windy morning!

What a change in the weather! Our A/C couldn't keep up yesterday and today we might be turning on the furnace! And it's pretty windy out there, too. But no rain.

Yesterday I got a start on putting my LOTR blocks together. I can only do so much and then have to rest my thinker for a while. This quilt never stops challenging me. Today is house-cleaning day. And washing the Christmas quilt on our bed. Poor kitty had ANOTHER hairball 'incident' last night. I've got medicine for him so hopefully that will kick in soon. Autumn & Antonio are coming for mac & cheese supper so I'll be baking brownies today as well. I've been given to understand that Antonio is a chocoholic. I will also have a tossed salad. If the weather keeps up like this - and it looks like it will - we'll be eating inside the trailer, balancing plates on our laps. The table is sewing and cat territory though I can make adjustments in that if push comes to shove. We only have 2 chairs with us so we have to bring in camp chairs to sit at the table.

VELDA - I'm so happy things went well for you yesterday. Let's keep up the good reports!

CAROL - I have a fast way of thawing most anything that's not too large - I just put my package of chicken in the sink or a large pan of hot tap water and put the lid on. Usually in 30-45 min it's thawed. Larger items take longer.

LORI - Do you bind your quilts by hand or machine? I was forced to start doing mine by machine some years ago when I had some painful hand issues. I was awful at first but gradually my skills improved. Now machine is the only way to go for me. We take Scottie to the groomer 2 or 3 times a year. His coat is so long it really needs to be thinned and trimmed sometimes. But we give him a few interval baths in the laundry tub. He hates it all! lol!

TINA - sorry your groomer is retiring. Too bad she isn't keeping just a few 'special' clients. (that would be you.)

JANA - has Aaron heard anything on his new job prospects yet? Has Daniel?

BECCA - I tried dying a few things years ago and also had a big mess! lol! Now I try to be happy with whatever colors things already are.

IRISH - I'm guessing you are really busy with door prizes! Sew, woman, sew!!

Well, my big finish is already out of the bag - mac & cheese, tossed salad, and brownies. With a slice of ham on the side for Bill. But because the weather isn't very nice and we're in a 30' trailer, I'm going to give Aut a chance to beg off if she wants.

What's the plan for your supper?

Good morning!
Mary, I've stood at counter tops before to eat and my grandma's house LOL it was crowded. I bet you all will do fine. Eating only takes maybe 10 minutes, the rest is visiting and making memories ❤
We feed our kitties Purina Indoor Complete I think, I'd go look but I'm lazy LOL if I go into the utility room today I'll double check.
Sadly our groomer is moving away after she sells her house and business. She had covid last year and her heart has been giving her problems since and it's made it harder for her to handle our high temps in the summer so she's moving to the northern border of NM. She's already found a place and I hope it all works out for her ❤ I used to groom my dogs all the time so I'll just be doing that again. Frankie's all ready to redo the utility room sink and cabinet so I can.
I may make soup for supper, we're still cold but thankfully just a little breeze today. Our low tonight is supposed to be in the 20's though 😱🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶

Tina, our groomer retired and that's why we started bathing the dogs. Nice that you will have a place to bathe them. Brrrr sounds like you're going to be cold there.

Mary, your weather sounds like ours. Warm, cold, warmish, cold.....
Our boys get a bath once a month, sometimes sooner. I can smell a dirty dog a mile away. lol I do binding by hand and machine. Just depends on the quilt and who it's going too.

Becca, what a special card that must be. I recently bought a Cricut maker. It makes some really pretty cards. I don't know that I would make them by hand though. It would take away from my sewing time.

Vel, how's you eye doing?

Carol, I'm going to get my Christmas cards started today so they can go out by Monday. Seems this month is flying by fast.

Yesterday I finished a cute pillow with a reindeer on it. I've done 5 embroidery kitchen towels to give away as well. I didn't get the binding on the quilt, so maybe today.

Dinner will be chili or chicken tacos.

Have a lovely day.

Hi everyone
My eye is doing great. Had a follow up this morning. Great report! Now second eye is scheduled for Jan 14.
If you have time check out my post in Photos.
I can't remember who all was there that day. I think it was in 2015. I have trouble remembering last week. LOL
Supper is eating out again. Repeat to restaurant at the local airport. Great food! Going to another dance being held at a little mall in nearby town. Usually draws a pretty good crowd.
Have a great weekend.
HUGS, 💕 Vel

Hi there!

Glad to see all the good reports!

I am very late in sliding into the table today. I finished the tote bag for Sarah and it came out really well. One of the best I have made, if I do say so myself! Then I finished up the Santa and the Snowman skinnies. They are pinned and ready to quilt tomorrow after church.

My eyes are very tired and so am I! Dinner is out! I already called Michael on the intercom phone we have here and told him so. I am now hungry, so we are leaving, just as soon as I get up the stairs from the Batt Cave.

See ya tomorrow,
Hugs,
Jana
